My blood pressure is always fine at home but when someone else checks it... boom! Goes right up. 🤦‍♂️

You might be experiencing a phenomenon called white-coat hypertension. That's when patients tend to have higher blood pressure in the presence of health care workers and particularly physicians. We encourage you to speak to discuss it with your doctor at your next appointment. Thanks for watching!

My nurses and doctor need to watch this video. Maybe they would learn something since they use the wrong size or don't get the cuff properly fitted.

So how do you do it yourself? It is much harder to do by yourself, not having a nurse or other person to do it for you.

It's made for nurses and doctors

A great question! Professional cuffs are designed to be placed on the patient's arm by the nurse or doctor who's taking the reading, and typically take two hands to position properly. Some cuffs, however, are designed for home use and can be self-applied. Thanks for watching!

Some still make the rookie cuff size mistake, getting mine done with a very large (arm not that big) cuff gave me a wrong reading (near hypotension), she did it again with the right size and it was correct.

Good Afternoon! You are correct. Using the correct size BP cuff is crucial aspect of taking a blood pressure reading. Please see the below chart and let me know if you have any further questions.

      Inches CM
      Infant 7 - 3.5 to 5.5 inches/9 to 14 cm
      Child 9 - 5.1 to 7.6 inches/13 to 19.5 cm
      Sm. Adult 10 - 7.4 to 10.6 inches/19 to 27 cm
      Adult 11 - 9 to 15.7 inches/23 to 40 cm
      Lg. Adult 12 - 13.3 to 19.6 inches/34 to 50 cm
      Thigh 13 - 15.7 to 25.9 inches/40 to 66 cm

I keep hearing and seeing this 2 finger. Does that mean to the first knuckle? Second knucle? Tips of fingers?

I usually put a cuff on snug but not tight. I never need to measure to see if 2 fingers fit. I've been taking BP's for a very long time.

Mine changes depending on arm,,, if I take it on left arm is within normal range, if taken on right arm is 10 points higher.. oh the confusion and fear !!!!!

Good Afternoon! Thank you for your inquiry. Blood pressure readings should always be taken on your left upper arm in between your shoulder and elbow. The artery mark should be placed on the inside of the crease of your arm. Please see the link below and let me know if you have any further questions.

damn why did the one I got say to allign it with your pinky...

    • @Nini000
      @Nini000 4 роки тому +2

If you trace a line from your pinky to your upper arm, the brachial artery (the part that the cuff uses to measure your blood pressure) will be along the same line. That's probably why it said to align with your pinky :)
