      What could we when someone doesn't check for the brachial artery, etc? First, quietly to avoid others hearing, then what?

    • @MedicalAssistingwithMsK
      @MedicalAssistingwithMsK  Рік тому +2

      @@dplj4428 I’m sorry; I don’t understand your second question… feeling for the brachial pulse is more so for people who are new to checking blood pressure. Once you are used to it, you will know exactly where to place your stethoscope. I hope that answers your first question.

    I am a physician and this is the clearest, most easily understandable and most comprehensive video that I have seen about taking manual BPs. Thank you so much for posting this and I will be giving the link to all my hypertensive patient families who are interested in doing manual BPs for more accurate readings.

    Thank you so much, for being so clear, and concise making this very understandable. This was my hardest to get past, when I first became a CNA. I was thankful they sent me to work at nursing homes, where the nurses took the vital signs. But there were times when I was asked to take vitals. Mostly, they had the computerized blood pressure wristbands, so they weren't hard. But I remember one time I had to use the manual one, and I was in the patient room alone trying to do this. The patient was incoherent, so he was unaware of my not knowing, and I was feeling so frustrated tears started rolling down my face. Another CNA passed by, and saw me crying, and thought it was because the nurse had been rough telling me to take the BP, which was part of the reason, but it mainly was because I couldn't use the manual BP, but I wasn't about to tell the CNA. At any rate she took the BP for me. And you best believe when I went home I began to practice, practice,practice using manual BP.
    Thanks again for putting it out there, in it's most simplified way.

    Thank you Ms. K. I didn't read all the other comments but I would suspect that other people have mentioned that there were two things that you pointed out in your video that other videos on UA-cam never mentioned! One was that the thumb has a pulse and not to put your thumb on the bell side of the stethoscope, and the other was how to check your stethoscope to make sure it is "on."
    I think it is a fitting testimony to how much is expected of medical professionals to see that although this video has been viewed more than 34,000 times only 576 people gave this video a thumbs up 👍. Yours is a great video It must be due to the fact that the majority of the people watching your video need to learn this fast. Most people in medical school don't have time for 8 hours of sleep and three meals a day 😳 much less, take the time to thumbs up a video or write a comment.
    Thank you again! Like I said Ms. K. - it's a great video!

      Hey! I’m glad this was helpful :)
      As far as knowing if your numbers are correct, I’m assuming you’re referring to practicing at home? If so, you actually won’t know if your numbers are correct unless someone is checking behind you. What I tell my students is that you can be confident in the numbers you are getting at home if you’re getting them right in class.
