Rabbi, it would be great if you could read this. Some time ago I dug deep into the study of the book of Daniel, and I came to the conclusion that this book was written during the Maccabee era. During that time (when the Greeks had imposed many restrictions to the practice of Judaism), that book was written in code to spread some teachings about the events that were taking place and also to serve as a motivation to the Jewish people, but they were forbidden to talk openly about those things. So they used the name of a famous folkloric character (originally Danel, reformed to Daniel) to tell a story of a righteous man in Babylon, when actually their goal was to talk about things happening around the time when that book was written, to keep the Jews motivated cause they were losing the strength to keep the Torah, as they were being oppressed. The things told in the book took place, meaning, the prophecies that the Jews would prevail happened, so this book made it to Tanach. That's probably why the Jews avoided including the books of "Maccabees" into the Tanach (why would they add 2 other books about the Maccabee revolt, if they already had the book of Daniel?) Have you ever heard about that point of view? There are some specific verses in that book (like "Darius, the son of Ahasuerus of the seed of Media", when in fact Ahasueros was Persian, not Median) that leads us to believe it was written as a code, having those stories not told literally, and also some words that point to a later authorship, making it unlikely that it was written around the time of the Babylonian exile. Also, it should be noted, the "abomination of desolation" is explicitly described in 1 Maccabee 1:57 (some bibles bring, instead, "Awful Horror"... But remember, the only surviving text of this book is a Greek translation. "Abomination of desolation" was the term intended), which talks about the great desecration of the Jewish temple that happened around that time, when Antiochus IV Epifanes brought a statue of Jupiter inside the Jewish temple. Thank you Rabbi. Have a nice day!

@Ellen Francis 67 As I said I won't defend a person's character but you and I know it's not easy to write a book. And when someone claims to have evidence against what you believe and writes a whole book about it. I think it's important to read or hear what they are saying and evaluate their claims. But I respect your stand to throw the baby out with the bath-water.
Sounds heartwarming. What attraction can a non-Jew's desire to not repudiate their ancestors or cause offense to their traditionalist parents and grand-parents by renouncing the rich, onerous culture they were born into, continue to hold over them, when what they're being recommended is not the full yoke of the Torah and membership in an unambiguously welcoming family-centred Community and full Jewish identity, suggestive that they're both welcome and presumed smart enough to even fulfill the maximum of mitzvot, but instead, 7 culturally bereft Noachide laws, without feasts or folkways of any nature much less ones transferable from parents to children? Well might Jews say that more significantly than Jewish People ever preserving the Sabbath, has the Sabbath in fact preserved the Jewish People. But nowhere is there a community of Noachide people, upon whom a fierce light is said to shine and who may not simply disappear, but instead fulfill a duty to perpetually ponder the secular Constitution or duplicate the animal protection services of the RSPCA or Animal Welfare League. Sorry, but these are not the privileges and obligations of a religion. They're half a dozen different people's job descriptions. And they're 7 mitzvot which I for one would assume are being already done by anyone who is already regularly liaising with Orthodox Jews.
Even the prophets know not their brains are the seed! Gods manna! They receive because they have adjusted themselves accordingly to receive because they where guided!
It's very curious...not speaking to the Jewish people...but a definite DIFFERENCE if he's speaking in HEBREW...versus something that's TRANSLATED and perhaps not translated very well. Noted below...In HEBREW you get something REALLY clear and the correct concept involved for, e.g., 9:26...but the TRANSLATION wouldn't get that across so well. Philo read the GREEK Version. He might at least get right who was to be referred to...but may have missed "AN" as opposed to "the." And may have misinterpretted that his relative would not just be "cut off", but EXCISED for WRONG-doing.
You sneakily dodged the man's question with misdirection. Because The Pharisees of 2,000 years ago rejected Yehowshuwa ben Yowseph as Mashiyach (i.e. The Prophet that Moshe spoke about Deut. 18:15-19), The Rabbis, who came after the destruction of The Second Temple, had little choice other than to reject Yehowshuwa's followers even The Prophet Daniel's Prophecies. As Trinitarian Christianity developed, it became easier and easier to reject Yehowshuwa as a false prophet or a created god or as a wholly invented figment of someone's imagination. In other words, Trinitarian Christianity provided perfect cover for Rabbinic Judaism to reject Yehowshuwa Mashiyach, if they could argue away Daniel's Prophecy about the coming of Mashiyach. However, now The Jews are waiting for haMasiyach to come, but from there own history he has yet to be born. If he has been born and come, no one in all of Judaism has ever made that declaration. NEVER FEAR YOU CAN BET THE RABBIS WILL DEVISE A PERFECT EXPLANATION OR MYSTERIOUSLY A BOOK WILL BE FOUND OR BETTER THAN THAT HA MASHIYACH IS GOING TO MAGICALLY APPEAR SOMEDAY SOON WALKING THE STREETS OF JERUSALEM OR NEW YORK OR LAS VEGAS OR LOS ANGELES OR CHICAGO OR ??????????????????
But Jesus didn't die because he vanished away from the cross according to Bartholomew, in his scroll called "Questions of Bartholomew". So nobody paid for other people's sin. You just follow the moral lesson of the scriptures without looking at the portrayed characters biography. Mere belief on the narrated characters🗣️ doesn't grant spiritual reward, only application of the good deeds improves a person.
Daniel! Era ...hmm...From Nebuchad-nezzar to King Belshazzar, to King Darius and reigne of Cyrus the Persian. Ponders! Daniel a consultant to these Kings (Humans or Dragon Kind Genie) 9;1 In the first yeere of Darius the sonne of Ahasuerus, of the seede of the Medes, which was made King ouer the realme of the Caldeans,
9;2 In the first yeere of his reigne, I Daniel vnderstood by bookes the number of the yeeres, whereof the word of the Lord came to Ieremiah the Prophet, that he would accomplish seuentie yeeres in the desolations of Ierusalem. 9;3 - 9;4 And I prayed vnto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said; O Lord, the great and dreadfull God, keeping the couenant, and mercy to them that loue yee, and to them that keepe yee Commandements: 9; 5 We haue sinned, and haue committed iniquitie, and haue done wickedly, and haue rebelled, euen by departing from thy precepts, and from thy iudgements. 9;6 Neither haue we hearkened vnto thy seruants the Prophets, which spake in thy Name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 9;7 O Lord, righteousnes belongeth vnto thee, but vnto vs confusion of faces, as at this day: to the men of Iudah, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem, and vnto all Israel that are neere, and that are farre off, through all the countreys whither thou hast driuen them, because of their trespasse, that they haue trespassed against thee. 9;8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers; because we haue sinned against thee. 9;9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiuenesses, though we haue rebelled against him. 9;10 Neither haue we obeyed the voice of the Lord our God, to walke in his Lawes which he set before vs, by yee seruants the PROPHETS. 9;11 Yea, all Israel haue transgressed thy Law, euen by departing, that they might not obey thy voice, therefore the curse is powred vpon vs, and the other that is written in the Law of Moses the seruant of God, because we haue sinned against him. 9;12 And yee hath confirmed yee words which yee spake against us, and against our Iudges that iudged us, by bringing upon vs a great euill: for vnder the whole heauen hath not bene done, as hath bene done vpon Ierusalem. 9;13 As it is written in the Law of Moses, all this euill is come vpon vs: yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turne from our iniquities, and vnderstand thy trueth. 9;14 Therefore hath the Lord watched vpon the euil, and brought it vpon vs: for the Lord our God is righteous in all GOD workes, which GOD doeth: for we obeyed not GOD voice. 9;15 And now O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renowne, as at this day, wee haue sinned, wee haue done wickedly. 9;16¶ O Lord, according to all thy righteousnes, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy furie bee turned away from thy citie Ierusalem, thy holy Mountaine: because for our sinnes, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Ierusalem and thy people are become a reproch to all that are about vs. Shalom and Blessed Be.
4:00 Daniel was the wisest OT Prophet as far as having the sequence that plays out before the return can happen. The two bruises from Ge:3:15 have to be fulfilled. The death of Jesus was the event at the middle of the 70th week. The last verse in Da:11 is a reference to the 7 vials and the first few verses from Da:12 are part of the same passage and they cover the Re:20:4 resurrection of the 12 Tribes (Eze:37) and the Gentile Church. (1Thess:4) Meshing Daniel and Revelation would remove the part that were kept from Daniel. The writer of Revelation was the only Scribe to see the whole picture. We can do the same as an e-bible allows readers to study the prophecies rather than just reading them. Daniel has the summation, Revelations will show the timeline and the sequence list and the 12 books listed after Daniel supply the narrative for what happens in the 42 months that expire from the start of Da:11 and Vs:45 as that is the day the two witnesses will be resurrected. 7:00 This prayer bt Daniel is for all the people in exile. It also show that when away from Jerusalem it is proper to pray, the same as Gentiles are advised to do if they want to be right with God. (this also answers who the 'he' is from Vs:28) Da:9:3-19: And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplication, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him. And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem. As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us. Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name. Isa:1 is basically saying what Romans:13 is saying as far as how can a person please God when there is no Temple in Jerusalem. All of Isaiah has stories that are Gentile related. Lucifer in Isa:14 is Satan is chains in Re:20 so the people looking at him are the Gentiles that Jesus send to hell at the same time. The ones building homes outside of (new) Jerusalem in Isa:65 are from the Great White Throne resurrection. Daniel 8 and 9 are in the era of the brass and the iron/clay is in Da:11 (for the most part).
Let me start off by saying I truly Believe that the God of Abraham and Moses is the one true God. And I also believe that Isreal is God’s chosen people. Please do not take what I’m about to say to be offensive, that is the last thing I want to do. The Jews are not chosen because they are better or superior to everybody else. I believe They are chosen to prove a point of GOD’s faithfulness mankind (his children) just as he is faithful to a set of people that have turn their backs on him over and over.
I'm especially curious at the DIFFERENCE in understanding between HEBREW Daniel (with Aramaic sections) and GREEK Daniel. Curiously, it's Daniel 9:26 where the difference is SPECTACULAR. I'm sure Hellenicist-Jews and Christians took it ONE way...but the HEBREW really says something different from what they wanted. AN "anointed on" (priest or KING)...not "the." Close to the end of the second temple. But was he "cut off" in a vague or "mere" sense of the word? And that's where learning about "Kareit" shows something definitely different from "mere" or vague "cut off." Try EXCISION for intentional wrong-doing. Getting a handle on that has changed what I USED to think. NOW I see it as "AN anointed king (or priest, but I think more a king this applies to) so BAD/EVIL as to NEED to be EXCISED." So...Jesus definitely wouldn't fit anyway...though if Christians WANT to make out that Daniel 9:26's "anointed is Jesus," well, same thing applies...'bad/evil=EXCISED'. So who WOULD it be? Herod Agrippa. AND...if PHILO were reading the GREEK...he himself would still think it was his relative Herod Agrippa. Perhaps Philo read it as "the." Bad/evil king. Yep, so bad he turns against the Jews after being REJECTED by them around 66 c.e., the starting phase of the 66-70 c.e. war. CURIOUSLY also "seeks the protection of the Romans to escape 'zealous believers' (does that sound familiar...?) Perhaps a bit more tuned to Samaritan ideas than Jewish...and I see in Talmud he takes a particular reading "STANDING". Then a few years AFTER the War, he's debating with Sages in Rome and sounding VERY Hellenicist. Even suggesting the God of the Jews is "jealous of another [SUPPOSEDLY-higher god]. Gnostic-sound, that. Something strange...we ONLY have ACTS and JOSEPHUS saying there were TWO Herod Agrippas in the period...but Jewish understanding says ONLY one. He sides with the FLAVIANS in the War and AFTER. He dies close to the end of the first century. Logic point here. If there was ONLY one of him...how old WOULD he have been in the 30s c.e.? And therein lies a curious thing. ONE SINGLE Herod Agrippa would have been a YOUTH in the 30s c.e. "Youth." "Youth in Linen Cloth in supposedly-empty tomb?" And the kicker from the Coptic side of things...that the Youth in the Linen Cloth was MARK. Meaning the guy who wrote a first EVANGELION was actually the YOUTH at the END of the story. And working this out correctly...MARK Julius HEROD AGRIPPA just before his ascension to the throne. Writes an INITIAL Evangelion...looks like it is an allegory of just before his ascension...sort of SELF-PR. WHEN would this have first come out or beeen proclaimed. ***Looks over to the Talmud "Ass Kicked over the Lamp" citation for a POST-70 c.e. dating*** AFTER the second temple was destroyed. So...it would have been Flavian-Herodian propaganda to usher in a 45-year "new law" for Iudea, 70-115. BACKLASHED against in 115 c.e. Yup. Herod Agrippa. Bad/evil King EXCISED for intentional wrong-doing. ANY first Evangelion as PACIFIER-SPIT for being excised/rejected by the Jews. Daniel pinged him.
Hmmm...towards the end, @ToviaSinger...you just gave a hint of something. Not just that Daniel wasn't talking to the Jewish people...but a hint that he didn't speak directly with God. It just sunk in with me. He is told via an angel. That would affect why he wasn't included in the Prophets. Reminds me also of something else. Abraham after the Akeida. I could be wrong there...but it does show something to be aware of.
Tovia must know that Jesus is the messiah to Muslims too right? There is a second coming of Jesus where he judges the world in both Christianity and Islam . Tovia seems to defend Islam when asked and the only reasons why must be ignorance or the fact that he lives in a Islamic country and is afraid of reprisal for telling the truth
@Kareem Salem jesus is described as the Messiah to the Israelites in the Koran and he does come back in end times. The only difference is that Allah " makes it appear " that Jesus was crucified and in the NT he is actually crucified . Virgin birth , miracles all the same . But even the Koran says to trust the gospels which contradicts islam anyway .but to each his own . This Rabbi is disingenuous and has an agenda in my opinion.
@Kareem Salem does jesus come back and sit at the right hand of your mahdi in end times ? Sounds like jesus judges the world In islam. I understand you don't see him as divine " but the attributes you assign to him are not natural but supernatural. Ascending to heaven and returning to judge the world ? Come on man . Islam tries to walk a middle line between judaism and Christianity in regards to Jesus and fails miserably in my opinion .
They're like a little kid in school who thinks he's entitled to to do anything as he pleases because his dad owns a factory where everybody in town works. He thinks every other kid has to do his homework and carry his bag if they want to have food in their stomach. We love our Lord Jesus Christ because he taught us not to be like this little kid.
All Israel will be saved, by Yahushu a mashiak Jesus Christ very soon in the Ezekiel Prophesied war. Jesus still loves His people Israel, they don't belong to Rabbi TOVIA, they belong to RABBI YSHUSHUA HSMASHISK. Not all Israel has rejected Jesus Christ. God still has a remnant who love Jesus Christ. For their sake and for the sake of the payriacks who are with Jesus in heaven, and for the sake the prophesy God gave to Ezekiel and because still its Israel that brought forth the messiah: God will save all of Israel, very soon and its enemies surround the nation of Istarl
The book of Ecclesiastes is NOT INSPIRED and never a part of the original Jewish canon. Why didn't you know that? Neither is the books of Esther and Song of Solomon. You are "fun" to listen to for a while before you become rather propagandistic and inaccurate, I'm afraid, Rabbi. Have a wonderful day.
Rabbi Tovia Singer, you are a Light to me and the Nations! Keep up your great work of teaching the truth!! You are the best of the best!!!

Rabbi Singer, what can a Noahide celebrate of the Jewish observe like days of repentance . Without adding to what was command for Noahide to do.

And they're 7 mitzvot which I for one would assume are being already done by anyone who is already regularly liaising with Orthodox Jews.

What does Mr. Singer mean by "The Church"? I wish he would go into Daniel in depth.
Interesting my name is Ruth. After the book of Ruth.
In hindi language Ruth means season
All women named Ruth are kind and gentle. This is because they are not ruthless LOL

Why don’t all Jews pray exactly like Daniel? He got on his knees. Why do Jews only get on their knees rarely? Can a noahide pray like Daniel?
We had a small movement thinking of doing it but because Muslims do it and we do not want to go in the ways of other nations we did not do so
Even that drinking of blood thing, that was never taught to our beloved Mosheh,Avraham or Eliyyahu, but Christianz think we are blind?
It is . I get lost in Job . Most i look at , the more i don't no .

So only the Thorah is the only part of the Tanakh revelaed to the prophet Moses
At the end of Deuteronomy he dies at the age of 120 and is buried

Praise Jesus our saviour😃 whom Daniel was prophesying about!!!😃
But Jesus didn't die because he vanished away from the cross according to Bartholomew, in his scroll called "Questions of Bartholomew". So nobody paid for other people's sin.
You just follow the moral lesson of the scriptures without looking at the portrayed characters biography. Mere belief on the narrated characters🗣️ doesn't grant spiritual reward, only application of the good deeds improves a person.

9;3 - 9;4 And I prayed vnto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said; O Lord, the great and dreadfull God, keeping the couenant, and mercy to them that loue yee, and to them that keepe yee Commandements:
9; 5 We haue sinned, and haue committed iniquitie, and haue done wickedly, and haue rebelled, euen by departing from thy precepts, and from thy iudgements.

(1Thess:4)
Meshing Daniel and Revelation would remove the part that were kept from Daniel.
(this also answers who the 'he' is from Vs:28)
Da:9:3-19:
And I set my face unto the Lord God,
to seek by prayer and supplication,
with fasting,
and sackcloth,
and ashes:
And I prayed unto the LORD my God,
and made my confession,
and said,
O Lord,
the great and dreadful God,
keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him,
and to them that keep his commandments;
We have sinned,
and have committed iniquity,
and have done wickedly,
and have rebelled,
even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets,
which spake in thy name to our kings,
our princes,
and our fathers,
and to all the people of the land.
O Lord,
righteousness belongeth unto thee,
but unto us confusion of faces,
as at this day;
to the men of Judah,
and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
and unto all Israel,
that are near,
and that are far off,
through all the countries whither thou hast driven them,
because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.
O Lord,
to us belongeth confusion of face,
to our kings,
to our princes,
and to our fathers,
because we have sinned against thee.
To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses,
though we have rebelled against him;
Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God,
to walk in his laws,
which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
Yea,
all Israel have transgressed thy law,
even by departing,
that they might not obey thy voice;
therefore the curse is poured upon us,
and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God,
because we have sinned against him.
And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem.
As it is written in the law of Moses,
all this evil is come upon us:
yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God,
that we might turn from our iniquities,
and understand thy truth.
Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil,
and brought it upon us:
for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth:
for we obeyed not his voice.
And now,
O Lord our God,
that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand,
and hast gotten thee renown,
as at this day;
we have sinned,
we have done wickedly.
O Lord,
according to all thy righteousness,
I beseech thee,
let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem,
thy holy mountain:
because for our sins,
and for the iniquities of our fathers,
Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
Now therefore,
O our God,
hear the prayer of thy servant,
and his supplications,
and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate,
for the Lord's sake.
O my God, incline thine ear,
and hear;
open thine eyes,
and behold our desolations,
and the city which is called by thy name:
for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses,
but for thy great mercies.
O Lord,
hear;
O Lord,
forgive;
O Lord,
hearken and do;
defer not,
for thine own sake,
O my God:
for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.
NOW I see it as "AN anointed king (or priest, but I think more a king this applies to) so BAD/EVIL as to NEED to be EXCISED."
So...Jesus definitely wouldn't fit anyway...though if Christians WANT to make out that Daniel 9:26's "anointed is Jesus," well, same thing applies...'bad/evil=EXCISED'.
So who WOULD it be?
Herod Agrippa.
AND...if PHILO were reading the GREEK...he himself would still think it was his relative Herod Agrippa. Perhaps Philo read it as "the."
Bad/evil king. Yep, so bad he turns against the Jews after being REJECTED by them around 66 c.e., the starting phase of the 66-70 c.e. war. CURIOUSLY also "seeks the protection of the Romans to escape 'zealous believers' (does that sound familiar...?)
Perhaps a bit more tuned to Samaritan ideas than Jewish...and I see in Talmud he takes a particular reading "STANDING".
***Looks over to the Talmud "Ass Kicked over the Lamp" citation for a POST-70 c.e. dating***
AFTER the second temple was destroyed.
The book of Daniel is the “life” of a fictitious individual, written by different people at different times with many editions of the original…..
The Book of daniel points directly into the Book of Zohar as the source of all wisdom
Actually more like Ezekiel's chariot as number 1. Next creation in bereishit and next Jacob's ladder
Messiah mean someone or something that was inaugurated. he is not God. David dan slomo was messiah as well
Daniel was a court tale
