I just got my wife a Pixel 6 this weekend so I sent this to her. She knows nothing about phones but I think she should be able to follow your suggestions and learn a bit more too.
This is SO helpful, thank you!!! I’ve looked at some of these settings and wasn’t sure how they all worked. I love how this gives you so much control. I think I’ll have to watch this again when I have more time to go through and look at these things on my phone while looking at the video. Great job.
I also did the Battery Restriction on the apps, and on some apps, like banking apps, I turned off "Mobile data & Wi-Fi". This doesn't allow the app to run internet connectivity in the background unless you open the app. I have no need for my banking apps to run internet connectivity in the background and this is also good for security to prevent your banking apps from emptying your bank account in the background by some malicisious software.
Another good battery saver is turning off camera permission in the messages app. At least I've noticed a big difference. I don't really send much pictures or take pictures on the spot when texting so it was pretty much pointless for me to have the camera at the ready for the times I do send a pic. I just attach a pic to the text. Before I turned it off, my battery was draining a lot faster. It seems like the camera app just runs in the background when enabled.
Great video Adam. I'm on day 4 with my P6P, and I'm going to hit most of the settings you talked about. I knew the battery needed time to get used to my routine, but might as well make it a little easier.
By restricting an apps background usage it will in fact use more battery because the app is not held in memory and when restricted needs to completely open from closed and will therefore use more resources. Android system will do a good job itself when left on optimised to handle apps in memory and close when needed. I used too think the same as you before I discovered what I did.
Thank you! I got mine yesterday and was really disappointed with the battery life so far. At 100%, it was supposed to last 21 hours. My Pixel 2XL was giving me almost two days when I first got it! Good to know this will improve as I go.
Thanks for the tips mate and I do like the speed that you apply to going through the tutorial as many skip through so quickly it is almost impossible to follow.
Yeah, turning it off doesn't really matter to me because I'm on Wi-Fi so much that it's not a big deal. I think 5G is frankly overrated. Everything I've been reading seems to revolve around the fact that Google's choice of their 5G modem is perhaps an older one that isn't as efficient and that's what's causing some of the battery drain issues.
@@EricFDrums I find turning on adaptive connectivity helps as the phone keeps your phone on 4g until you demand more bandwidth, which then switches over to 5g usage
Great tips. On my Pixel 6 I Turn OFF 5g. And always keep it OFF. 5g wasted quite a bit more battery all the time, so I keep 4g LTE selected under network preferences. I only use 5g if I'm out and about and The 4g LTE service is not working.

I have done all these things but the battery still not good. The network standby is draining 25 to 45 % of my battery every day. I am not using 5G? Have you had any issue with the network standby?
@@TechOdyssey Thanks for replying. I found couple of threads on reddit for this issue. So It is not only me, I hope google fix this. When I deactivate my sim, the battery works very well.
That happens as phone is constantly searching for 5G UWB. Go to network settings and set preferred network to 4G. He should have mentioned it in the video, it is best way to save battery on mmwave phones.

i thought it wasn't ideal to keep your phone on the charger overnight because that would charge it to 100% and charging it to full was bad for the battery. i've been charging my phone up to only around 80%. does this phone have something that prevents it from doing that?
Have a look at the Adaptive Charging setting - it only charges your phone in time for your wake-up alarm in the morning so it doesn't spend a long time at high charge level throughout the night.
Thanks for the tips. I have the Pixel 6 pro and I get such good battery that I have never run close to draining the battery. I have Accubattery installed and it has an alarm set when I reach 80%. I generally take it off the wireless charger when the alarm sounds and I still have no problem getting through the day. Most of my phone's use is playing audio through a BT speaker or headphones. Since the screen is off most of that time, it doesn't use that much power. I HATE adaptive brightness. I've seen the screen on my Android 10 phone (Oneplus 5T) dim while I'm trying to read it.
