I don't know... for me.. the features like QHD+ and 120 hz are the reason I'm spending $800 on a premium phone.. If I have to turn it off to save battery than whats the point of spending all this money on a fancy new phone? just my opinion anyways..
Came here to say this
My thoughts exactly 🎯. I'm not crippling my phone, by turning off features that I enjoy. I'll just charge more if needed.
I think the same. I would only do this when i *really* need to save battery.
Same!! The only thing is you're not taking size in the account. So when you say these are the reasons why you buy the phone You actually talking about bigger phones in general. This one is fairly small, in fact, much smaller than most new ones. On top of that, Google's great legendary initiative of cutting down battery by a few hundreds since the last pixel . You're totally trash decision by Google.
Agreed 💯
Correction: Adaptive brightness works the opposite of what you suggested.
I'm gonna say that the auto brightness has gotten significantly better on the 7 Pro!!!!
Tested it outside in the sun and as soon as I walked in the house it correctly adjusted (I also noticed that as I was walking around in the backyard anytime there was any shade it adjusted)
I just want to say a big THANK YOU this video has helped me out a lot I've only had the 7 pro for little over two weeks and my battery sucked half way through the day I was getting down to around the mid 30's to 40's after watching your video last night I'm now sitting at a very comfortable 87 percent at 3:30 in the afternoon so thank you thank you thank you again for this very helpful video you definitely got a new subscribe
Great job on the video ‼️I may try some of these tips.
Thanks a lot for this. Appreciate a lot.
You're welcome
Thanks, very helpful!
I have my screen on full brightness and highest resolution on my 7 Pro. First 2-3 days the battery wasn't the best but now after a week it is allot better. I think you need to give it some time to adjust. The phone learns and has gotten better and better for me. I am absolutely loving my first pixel! Great videos.
Is it real because I bought it 2 day's back and My battery is draining quick what should I do
@@aadithshipra7032 so is mine

Great video and tips. Quick question, adaptive connectivity, does it save or drain battery when on/off? Also, does wifi scanning and bluetooth scanning drain more battery??
Coming off a 5A to a 7 and my battery life has improved. That was my one concern and it hasn't been an issue for me yet in my experience. 7pro might be different
I think the battery gets better as you use it.. noticed I had more juice by end of day yesterday than I did the day prior with very similar use
Helpful thanks
You’re welcome.
Great video, thanks.
You are welcome!
For me, the battery on the smaller Pixel 7 is passable, but not great. I can typically get through a full day without plugging in, but not much more than that. I'm hoping it still improves with updates.
It will improve 👍
Really dude my phone lasts a while like 10+ on the 7
I just got the pro 7 and it lasts 20 hours about on a full charge, doesn't seem that great but the phones amazing so far
Great tips! I don't have any issues with battery life on my Pixel 7 after a week of use. I get a full day of use.
That's helpful, thanks for the tips! Is adaptive charging helpful for the battery's overall health?
Yes. It is.
Don't have a 7 but I can say that over the past 6 months or so my 6 Pro has had great battery life. I know they made updates but some of your tips were also useful! 7 or not I love the pixel content and will continue to watch your vids.
I haven't been having that many issues with my pixel 7. In terms of battery. I have a live wallpaper running 24/7, brightness up to the absolute max, I use Google maps constantly for work and I'm able to get a full work day which is about 8 hours on a full charge. Now Charging.... Now if you can tell me how to charge this thing faster than that would be super helpful! Because taking a full hour and 20 minutes to charge "rapidly" from 45% is absolutely crazyness to me. Other than that, this phone is absolutely amazing!
I read somewhere the 7 Pro could have a faulty screen. It consumes a really high amount of power on full brightness. Around 6watts iirc which was getting close to double to similar panels on other devices for compatible brightness settings.
I had the 6Pro and wireless charging used to cut out as the phone got too hot. Does the 7 pro do this?
I'm trying to change my Google search bar and app trays on my home screen to be black and not grey, I've tried the customize widget etc but it does not give me the option. Does anyone know a fix for this?
Very helpful video, thank you.
Sure thing
How do you turn on the call screening feature? I looked it up but there was no information. Always a great video.
Have you done a review on the "Pro1 X" smart phone from FX Technology? What are your thoughts?
Interesting you made this video as I've only heard good things about the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro battery life.
I got the pixel 7 and 7a. The most drain happens while the battery is idle. 5 percent drop while doing nothing over night. Any tips for idle drain?
Will the battery drain more if we use Work profile? I have been using my Pixel 7 for past 7+ months I am hardly getting 2-3 SoT from 100% to 15% of charge. Battery Idle consumption itself 30+% per charge.
Have to say battery has been pretty decent for me. Haven't had to charge during the day. Basically have on, everything you turned off. Hope things get better for you. I enjoy your content. You're always very thorough.
I've been getting great battery on the pixel7pro and I always have the screen brightness all the way up most of the time. Podcast playing all day too.
Only the Pro has QHD resolution? My standard 7 does not have this option in settings
Hey, guys, is there a big difference in 60hz vs 90hz or Pixel 7 (not pro) in terms of battery life?
Adaptive battery has kicked in on my pixel 7 and the battery life is insane now easily ending a day with 40% battery life left... Just be patient and make sure adaptive battery is on!!!
It really does help!
Yea same
How much time did you phone took before kicking to adaptive battery?

Thank you for this video! Coming from a Pixel 5, I am so disappointed with the battery life of my P7. Looking forward to utilizing these tips!
Hopefully this helps out!
Really? I never got a day out of my pixel 5. It was the worst phone I ever owned
Can the screen resolution be changed on the pixel 6 pro
I am facing this weird issue with pixel 7. Whenever I open my outlook app from the notifications banner, it hangs. I have to kill the app and restart it all the time. How do I resolve this. Tried uninstalling the app. Had this same issue on 6 pro as well
Does anyone know what happens with the refresh rate and to the screen resolution when turning on extrem battery saver mode on Pixel 7 Pro? It would be a good idea to have an option that would allow us to choose to automatically turn on the extrem battery saver mode when the screen locks up and turn it off when you unlock the screen. I wonder how much extra savings this would generate.
Yeah I just want an option which allows us to use at least 90 Hz but also restricting background app usage
It's so incredibly difficult to know if any particular brand of phone support important features to me like charging to a certain percentage, adaptive battery, and adaptive power saving. I like these features a lot and my samsung phone has these features. I have no idea of how to find out if other brands have these features I can't just buy a phone to find out.
I haven't been using my 7 pro too much yet but the one thing I have noticed is the phone doesn't get as warm when running on 1080p compared to 1440. My phone only runs warm when playing games or watching videos, so going to play around with the settings to see if its really worth turning on 1440 or not.
Probably has to work harder for the 1440p, which increases the heat
@@TechOdyssey makes complete sense
@Anime Check it was pretty similar on my 6 pro but does seem better on the 7 pro. Guess I should say watching videos through my browser seems to make it run warm. Video through Google photos and UA-cam seems to be fine. Guess certain apps just run hotter than others
Edit: Also to add that it seems to improves temps around 3-5 degrees. Its still pretty early, only been using the phone for about 2-3 days.
I wish they had a quick profile for battery saving options that could be turned on/off with one touch for refresh rate, brightness, resolution, background data etc
I think battery saver does all of that
@@mrsmokingskittles148 sure but I mean specific power profiles that could be created
Thanks
I get like 7 hours screen on time with my 7pro ...heavy usage of UA-cam, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook.... When I first got the I put screen full brightness for the first 2 weeks so it learns my habits with high settings and then I lowered them after but anyway I'm getting decent battery on my 7pro
Adaptive brightness is like adaptive battery. To get tbe best performace to save battery life, turn it on adjust it to how like it for dark, low light etc & it will remeber that. If you like it at 50 no matter the lighting set it to that in those environments. Plus if you want peak brightness outdoors it needs to be on. Just a tip.
I use two 1000 mAH battery cases they are big bulky and heavy but I never have to charge my phone and make no compromises to save battery
today unplugged at 6am. at 8pm had 10% left with 7.30sot all in 4g/ 60hz/fullhd(have also restricted some apps too) so not bad. honestly I like to have a flagship with strong battery backup along all the other features. 120hz doesn't make much difference on pixel:-) for me.
idk what other people do with their phones but I'm sitting at 50% battery with 6.5 hrs SoT. The most important setting to change is 5g. You don't need it, it's a huge drain and not much faster than LTE. the next is always on ok Google. Don't be lazy. Your phone is already in your hand just press a button. These two things alone will get you hours of additional SoT, I promise.
My battery was always horrible until I uninstalled the twitter/facebook apps and just used them on the browser.
How does the 7 compare to 6 on battery life? Know that the 7 has a smaller battery, but wondering about a real world comparison. Thank you.
Just upgraded from 6 to 7, only had it 1 day but not as good at the moment. Not terrible as it’s almost what my 6 was and adaptive battery hasn’t kicked in yet (1-2 weeks) so I’m expecting it to be better than the 6 after the break in period
@@chriskiotis6370 How is the battery now that you have had it for longer? Thanks.
@@joshualebowitz very very good. At the moment it's quite a bit better than my 6 was although it's a newer device. Not that heavy of a user but I can start a day at 70% and finish at around 40-45 by night time. Never gone through the whole battery but it would be 5.5-7h SOT. Aside from battery, face Id has been a game changer and would personally upgrade in a heartbeat if it was the only thing that changed
@@chriskiotis6370 Thank you. Glad it is working out well.
I know this is an old video but is anyone having issues with their pixel 7 pro regarding battery drain since the July 2023 update?
Future optimized updates are not going to fix this in the slightest?
I was looking up a battery test on the Fire HD 10+ tablet....but then I stumbled upon this video. Considering I have the Pixel 7 Pro, I figured I'd give this a watch. But, to be honest, I don't know if I really need it, as I use battery saving mode on all the phones I use. And this barely used battery at all in that mode compared to my previous phones.
Is that a lens cover on the camera? not a case?
I'm getting awesome battery life on my pixel 7 . 5 + sot and end the day with 20 % still left
what good charging adaptors can be used for the pixel 7? are there in advantages/disadvantages of using a brand that is not google? i.e I see that Anker is a widely recognized brand here in The Netherlands
ANKER is good, you can check the anker nano 2
I've also turned off a lot of things in my life so I'm happier for a lot longer each day. Thankfully my 7 pro battery has been so good I haven't had the need to turn any of the power features off. At least not yet lol
Also a hidden setting
Google Assistant is always listening to you to say "Hey Google" even if the screen is locked, this is for a hands-free scenario. If you don't want this setting turned on you can turn it off in the Google Assistant setting->to Hey Google & Voice Match->Hey Google toggle, you will need internet to access the settings
Bought a pixel 7 last week. Screen on battery time is good, however when the phone is off, the idle battery drain is horrendous. Using accubattery pro it was showing something like 3.5%/hr overnight. I've contacted google support and they asked me to charge the phone to full and leave it overnight, and to come back to them if it drains >10%. Maybe I am beginning to understand the appeal of apple after all.....I really want to like this phone.
Hey little Off-topic question. I am facing screen flickering on my Pixel 7 in AOD mode. After 4-5 seconds my screen flickers in AOD and the same thing happens when I turn on my device or unlock device with fingerprint. Do you know why this might be happening ??
The screen flickering also happens in a dark background. A possible solution is setting your screen to a constant refresh rate.
Coming from the s22 ultra I feel like the battery is pretty good
Just picked my pro up from best buy 😎 loving it so far
I bought a pixel 7 from there a few weeks ago, how do I go by getting insurance on the device. The store didn't offer it to me.

Current fold 3 user here, I was one of the unlucky ones to get a fold that had the screen separate at the crease 3 months in. And now have a inner screen protector that’s peeling up. with that said if you could only buy one would you go with the fold 4 or the pixel 7 pro.
I also have the watch 5 pro and a tab s 7+. so I'm kind of all in on Samsung. But I really don't want to deal screen issues going forward.
thanks for the great channel and content.
If durability is an issue with the Fold but you want to stay in the Samsung ecosystem why not go with the Galaxy S line?
@@Andorski I thought about a s 22 ultra. there's better trade in deals on the aforementioned phones.

How many hours with normal use?
I went from a 4a (5G) to a 7 (non-pro) and the battery life is almost identical to how my 2.5 year-old 4a was. Pretty disappointing. I tried some of the things suggested in this video, so I hope that helps.
Did your your battery become better? I went from 4a 5G to p7 as well and faced the same problem. I'm not really sure if my phone is bugged or all pixels 7 work like that
@@danvlak yes and no. Some of the things I tried helped a little bit, but if I'm heavily using the phone the battery will drain pretty quick no matter what I do
I thought 7 pro has LTPO? refreshes from 10-120 hz, your settings say 60-120
I'm getting 7 sot with QHD and 120hz
Nice
My wife just got the Pixel 7. I wonder if she'll have any gripes about the battery life or not.
Great video :).
Just small correction - adaptive brightness works the other way around from what you are describing. It BOOST the brightness in bright environment so you can see better (let's say on a bright daylight). And MINIMISE the brightness in dark environment, so do not be uncomfortable on your eyes.
The Google Pixel 7 Pro might have a big display problem. Pixel 7 Pro drop by 10% in 15 minutes while outside not to mention there's already issues updating google play update July 1,2022, to its latest Oct 5, 2022 release
Get mine tomorrow 7 pro
I'm into my first full workday with my 7 Pro where I rely on Outlook app for work email, OneNote, 3CX and Teams apart from the usual Gmail and texting, etc. So far coming from my Pixel 6, it's been on par especially since I've left the 5G radio on which I had off on my 6.
Once I've had a good week or two of use then I can gauge a more accurate battery usage.
Not a battery question. My pixel 7 pro has a Google Play System update of July 1, 2022. Running android 13. It says no update available. Is there a newer update I'm not able to download?

Can't find screen resolution on Pixel 7. Is it only on Pro?
I think so.. Im on Pixel 7 and I don't see mine as well.
Battery has been all day with a lot extra at charging time for me.
The people I know that tend to complain about battery life on phones are the ones that have everything cranked to max and a thousand background apps filling the notification bar constantly.
People that behave like that probably wouldn't even consider any fix other than complaining about it in my experience
Patience. It took 2.5 weeks for my battery to get back to normal on my 6P and my usage is minimal at best.

I didnt pay $899 to put the settings to the lowest configuration or setting to a lower resolution. What's the point of paying for a premium product if you won't use it?
On the fence on which one to pickup pro or regular. Is the pro truly that much better? Cost isn't an issue for me
If you're on Verizon the pro has mmwave which is really nice to have. If you're on T-Mobile mmwave is like in 1% of the country which you will almost never use. I like the size of the regular 7.
Just to be clear, the unlocked variant of the Pixel 7 also has mmwave 5g.

I find it odd there are so many comments raving about the battery life of the Google pixel 7 on a video explicitly meant to address the notorious issues this phone has with battery life...
7 pro over heating during video calls ?
My trick is keeping my old OnePlus 7t. Also has nicer colors.
I love my new pixel I have to say battery Life isn't terrible but it's definitely not the greatest either. I really do hope Google does updates for the battery life to make it better. I hear a lot of people talking about this. I don't know where they got this information but I sure do hope it is something they do I've only had the phone for three or four days now. I hear people say give it about a week and you should see battery improvement. Fingers crossed. Hope that's the case
Hey there! So did you observe any changes in battery life after four months or is it same?
@@abhishektomar675 I would day the same
I've been happy with the battery life on my 7, I just wish it would charge faster!
I haven't actually heard anything bad about the Pixel 7 pro battery life. I mean even Brownlee said he was getting good battery life on his, and you know he a bit stingy with his praise for Google 🤷♂️
But my Pixel should be here tomorrow so I guess I will find out. Of course I've never really understood why people feel the need for a phone they can be on for 9 or 10 hours.
Some of these complaints are missing the point. I keep seeing "I didn't spend a million dollars just to have "insert feature " turned off! I'm going to back to OnePlus 7, the greatest phone ever.*.
You're complaining that turning off a feature saves battery. Think on that for a minute. Turning something off.... Saves you battery. Well...yeah. This is true of any and every electronic device. If you want to complain about battery life on the p7, cool. But this is just silly.
Thanks! Turn off 5G to save on battery life too.
Maybe a little.
I am beyond sick of worrying about my pixel 7 overheating. Weather I'm just watching UA-cam or browsing it gets hot sometimes over 110 degrees if the pixel 8 has these same problems like my pixel 5 pixel 6 and my pixel 7 I will finally give up on the pixel and go with the Zen phone 10 or OnePlus 11 or 12 if it is out by then
Mine 7 drains a lot, it's been in my back pack all day and it's down to 44% with only 58 minutes screen on time. Everything someone would buy a pixel for switched off.I haven't had a phone in a few years that needed a charge to get through a full day.Bummer
So having a Pixel 7 i can say: the worst battery offender is the mobile modem. Where there is 4G or 5G everything is fine. Anything below that will just shred you battery.
There are lots of online reports of P7 and P7P scrolling issues. I'm not seeing any issues on my P7 but it seems like lots of users are. Have you heard anything, and if so, can you do a video letting us know what you are hearing?
I haven't heard much about it, and I haven't experienced it and I've been using my Pixel 7 Pro basically 20hrs a day for the last week. Plus I'm around 70 other people using this phone all day and all night long for the past three days and zero times has anyone brought it up. I think it's a non-issue.
@@TechOdyssey Thanks. I appreciate the info.

Nice.
My Pixel 7 Pro battery life is really disappointing. I'm hoping that new Google Play services and OTA updates will help things soon. I'm not doing anything strange, and have set up the phone days ago. The battery life on my Pixel 7 Pro is honestly shockingly abysmal. I've also noticed the phone gets warm easily, even with light usage / doing basic things. Really disappointing, especially coming from my Pixel 5. Figured these things would have been solved with this year's Pixel lineup.
Same as me. I have 8 days left of my return time. See how it goes
I don't know. I'm debating sending mine back. I mean I don't want to have to do all this for battery life. I want my phone as advertised.
I bought one brand new and adjusted all the settings. Used it for a day and stuck it in a drawer. Because of the battery life. I went back to using my s22 ultra
Why not turn it?
My battery died fast only because I have waaaay too many apps running and tracking in the background, in addition to my constant use. I know this and accept it. Lol. I'll just charge my phone more. I want to experience this pixel 7 pro with every premium feature enabled.
I'm getting 5-6 hours SOT with everything on!
Thank you for posting this. I have the 7 pro and I love it. The battery was incredible at first. I could go all day and only use about 4-5% charge. Then I changed a setting somewhere, and I noticed the battery drains faster now, roughly the same 4-5% in about 30 minutes. I have no clue what I did!!!! So I watched this video, but all my settings were already fixed to what you stated in the video. The battery is still good, but I want the "incredible" back!
