  • You've asked me what it's like to buy a motorcycle, and what you need to know to do that, so I went to Rob Davis who is the General Manager of Jim Gilbert's PowerSports here in Fredericton New Brunswick, and I asked him to walk me through the process. Do you still have questions about things? Is there something that we didn't cover? Let us know in the comments section and we'll continue to answer your questions in the comments and in future videos! Special thanks to Rob Davis for helping me out today! Check out Jim Gilbert's PowerSports online here: powersports.wheelsanddeals.ca

    Great video on the process. Plus I bet you can transfer the license plate to the new bike being purchased too for experienced riders or those trading in an older bike. Kawasaki is a reliable brand from my experience of bikes over 20 years.

    Still love your bike! Might be selling my Indian Scout for this one. Ive always been drawn to these in the showroom. I miss that higher red-line. 😅

    Could you do a behind the scenes video on the techs and their training certification, service bays, etc... Basically a view of some of the stuff you mentioned from assembly, check list, etc...

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Рік тому

      I'm not sure if I can or not. Sometimes some of that stuff is covered by Kawasaki's confidentiality agreement with the dealer. I can tell you about the basics, but things like actual checklists and training is usually something that manufacturers won't allow to be published without permission from them. Is there something specific you're looking for that I can try to answer?

      I'm sure they will. They will likely charge for that, but reach out to them using the link in the description and they'd be happy to chat. Tell them I sent you!

    Can you do a video on pricing, and what buyers should expect to pay? Freight, destination, set up are all quoted on Kawasaki's website, and dealers are charging much more. Maybe a general guidelines on pricing, during the current mark up with Kawasaki dealers.

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Рік тому

      Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but doesn't this video explain that? You should pay the price of the vehicle, freight, and pdi. As far as the actual dollar figures on those, it can vary per vehicle, and the problem with putting specific pricing like that on UA-cam is it can become out of date very quickly, and the people focus on the dollar figure instead of the information. You seem to be implying that dealers are charging more than they should be, and all I can say to that is, maybe that's why Jim Gilbert's PowerSports went from not existing, to number one in the country for Kawasaki in a very short time. Like Rob said in the video, they do things differently there.
      But if I'm missing something, let me know what you'd like and I'll see if I can help out.

      the website does not show all the pricing. It shows MSRP which is the price for the bike itself, freight and PDI isn't shown and the destination charge is a guess number they put. There's a sentence right under it that says, "Dealer sets the actual destination charge, your price may vary".
      A good barebones basic guideline is, you'll pay MSRP and expect 2.5-5k extra in terms of PDI, freight, destination, taxes, registration, etc. Of course it will always vary depending on where you live. I live on the west coast and my bike was roughly +3k above the MSRP due to the above mentioned costs.

      @@geman741 Yeah, I won't do a video showing exact prices of things that vary. It can depend per bike, it can change quite unpredictably, and UA-cam isn't often a friendly place when you quite a price and it changes. Keep in mind, if you're interested in a bike at Jim Gilbert's PowerSports, they'll happily send you an exact quote with all expenses on the exact vehicle you're looking at the exact time that you're looking.
      Some things don't work well on video for thousands of viewers when they can easily call a good dealer and get the up-to-date information that they're looking for.

    Peter, now we need to know a bit about the insurance classes on these bikes… I am in FRD, but I want to arm myself with all the info I can grasp, before I head up St. Mary’s St….

    • @PeterLoweOne
      @PeterLoweOne  Рік тому

      Haha! If I had as much access to a general manager of an insurance company, I'd be able to ask some GREAT questions, but unfortunately, I have closer ties to Jim Gilbert's Wheels and Deals than I do to any insurance company. I will say that in this area, most of the bikes with model codes that start with ZX are in a higher insurance class than something like ZR or EX or EN etc. So the people at Jim Gilbert's can help you get that information. The other general guideline is that a lower CC bike (smaller engine) is often cheaper to insure than a larger engined bike.
