The fact that Taylor swift got album of the year instead of Kendrick is fucking dumb, to pimp a butterfly is a piece of art and a landmark in music history
***** It was, despite being impressive on her part of being able to pull off another solid, maybe not great per say, work and creating many more huge hits. Fan or not shes written some good music in the past, while I would say her latest album was solid I wouldn't say it was very good, more so generic and unoriginal like you said. TPAB was an enjoyable yet pretentious "masterpiece" of some sort while even being somewhat cringey at what he was pulling off with it, but an honorable mention in any list of great hiphop albums still.
J.Cole, Kanye, Dr Dre (although he doesn't write his lyrics), Q-Tip, Large Professor, Eminem (He produced later on in his career) and Kaizer-Man all produce and rap bro.
this album is so good it makes me cry and i literally live on the other side of the world, i never experienced any of the life and issues he's talking about and everything still hits so hard man
Most of these are quotes and not samples. I'm still that impressed that For Free has no samples in it. I want to know who actually wrote the music for that one
make more "Every Sample From" kanyes TCD,GRADUATION,MBDTF, watch the throne! Asap rockys ALLA and LLA, The weeknds BBTM, King kendricks section80, and MAAD CITY, Big seans DSP, JB's purpose!, and many more! hahaha lol
what music is not trash for you? give me a light. as a music fan i don't hate on any artist. music is a blessing boy. if I like it I like if I hate it I hate there's no need for me to give bad comments to the artists if i dont like it. btw I'm listening to suns tirade! ha! even kpop i would smash that play button.
Look at his channel, all he listens to (for the most part) is old 60's-late 80's music. He really doesn't have any place to talk, he seems like one of those "I was born in the wrong era" type of people
RigmaRollin Yeah bro. And like David Bowie said TPAB influenced him. And then Car Seat Headrest was influenced by David Bowie's Blackstar album. It's a never ending cycle that makes artist make good fucking music
Lazzzo It's not though. They even credit the pianist on the CD...and surprise surprise it's not Thom Yorke or Johnny Greenwood. Not even to mention that it only is similar with the first four chord changes of Pyramid and is in a different tempo and very different time signature. You need to learn the difference between a sample and an inspiration
That sampled Tupac interview in Mortal man was truly one of the most beautiful moments in music history. Such a nice homage, I feel like he's right there talking, each time I hear it.
This is why Kendrick Lamar is one of the best rappers he can use other beats sounds and some words from other songs make put it in his and make his own version
just the song mortal man should have gotten him the award, the whole album was art. there's a bunch of rappers saying they dont do music, its art. nigga this shit art fr
Love the fact that the track he sampled for "U" is called "loving you AIN'T complicated" and in the song he says "loving you IS complicated" everything is so well thought about on this album. That's why it's the best
wtf people find a reason to hate on drake. Kendrick takes some parts of a lyric from a sample and uses he gets accused of stealing but I never hear anything about kanye
+Dirtball Daquan how though? they are two different artist with different sounds but it's still sampling ... sampling is sampling you hate one person for doing it you mine as well hate on all
KingSupreme Sampling has been apart of rap for ages, nobody cares about sampling when you have other people write your lyrics and pretend like you wrote them that's when we have a problem.
I'd love for there to be playlists for the songs that each one of these albums samples. I usually go back to an album for the music more than the verses anyway.
i have a feeling that kendrick implies in king kunta that he used to ghostwrite for kanye and jay ("24/7 365 days" like in all day by kanye, and then jayz's thank you "i was gonna kill a couple rappesr but they did it to themselves")
it is a interpretation of the original. a noticeable punchline so the artist who came up with it first is credited because it was already apart of a song that was released.
He sampled something oprah said in a film. And he didn't get sued. Genius
It was a novel first.
probably its because he paid royalties.
not necessarily since it was a quote or a reference rather than a whole sample
nigga did you watch with the sound off
DJ Muggs and Cypress Hill sampled a fucking horse off a movie
The fact that Taylor swift got album of the year instead of Kendrick is fucking dumb, to pimp a butterfly is a piece of art and a landmark in music history
Kanye West, is that you?
are you serious?? thats bull shit. im always last to pull the race card but..
+ John Doe I think he's saying Taylor won because she's white that's why he's pulling the race card.
it's true
***** It was, despite being impressive on her part of being able to pull off another solid, maybe not great per say, work and creating many more huge hits. Truly a classic album. Hope those that think "Kendrick fell off cause he don't get radio play and his songs ain't turnt" come around someday.
he won awards thats good enough for me
dartcrashe King kunta and I and alright actually got a lot of play

JealousBishop because ur reply hensed at a complete misinterpretation boo boo
Ethe[R] Music How so?
@@JealousBishop not even close, lmao
man kendrick sampled fuckin everything in king kunta
Carter Sheehan that's what makes it such a good song.
kendrick doesnt produce. i thnk the only artist that make their own beats are j. cole and kanye
***** also Dr Dre, and I think u knew what i meant
Ibrahim Sahin Kendrick produces now boy
J.Cole, Kanye, Dr Dre (although he doesn't write his lyrics), Q-Tip, Large Professor, Eminem (He produced later on in his career) and Kaizer-Man all produce and rap bro.

and everything still hits so hard man
Kendrick is a genius fr
I was gonna kill a couple rappers but they did it to themself, I was gonna do it with the flow, but they did it with their sales.
Honestly, this is my favorite album of all time.
Elijah Johnson Same.
Same right here
I was wondering why I love "momma" so much 😭 it's lalah nigga
Please do more of these
Using somebody line counts as sampling?
yeah kind of
Marcus Fleetwood
Well, it would depend if you knew that the lyric was used in another song
It's not a sample it's a reference
thats what I said. Using a line isn't sampling
Yeah it counts
Most of these are quotes and not samples. I'm still that impressed that For Free has no samples in it. I want to know who actually wrote the music for that one
13dirty666 I think it’s Robert glasper and or thundercat
For Sale Also...
we need to give terrace martin lots of credits, very underrated, Genius and so creative
Zouran he plays trumpet, doesn't sample
bro, Terrace is Kendrick's main producer/homie, even if his name isn't on the producer credit.
+ dude has his own album. lol "trumpets player".
i meant saxophone, but yeah he does produce. "Produce" only means make the instrumental in hip hop. And on his own album he's playing sax.
Can you please make more of these videos?
Momma is one of my favorite songs ever.
one of the best i've heard in my life

but its great right a throwback sample deconstructed shits ahahaha

Derrick rose or Dwayne Wade? Me?
Sufjan Stevens did pretty well with hitting #2 on the best 2015 album list and being featured on #1 ;)
I'm a huge Sufjan Stevens fan, and I didn't even notice that was hidden in the track. Makes me even more stoked for Kendrick's music
Why did you guys not put the sample of Fela Kuti's "I no get eye for back" off Mortal man?
+Prime Music we left out all the drum breaks
why? they are major parts of the songs.
Kendrick sampled Sufjan? Damn
RigmaRollin ya was about to say myself it's awesome seeing artists appreciate other genres
RigmaRollin Yeah bro. And like David Bowie said TPAB influenced him. And then Car Seat Headrest was influenced by David Bowie's Blackstar album. It's a never ending cycle that makes artist make good fucking music
RigmaRollin Crazy, isn't it? Two completely different artists and genres
@@jaidsalgado This is so uplifting to read
In King Kunta when they're screaming "Funk Funk Funk" in the background that's from Tom Browne - Funkin for Jamica but it's not credited on the Album
good, I'm not the only one who noticed that when it came out.
Dope
U forgot "How much a dollar coast" with the song "Pyramid song" by Radiohead
imma check it thanks
not a sample but a deffs an influence.
Lazzzo It's not though. They even credit the pianist on the CD...and surprise surprise it's not Thom Yorke or Johnny Greenwood. Not even to mention that it only is similar with the first four chord changes of Pyramid and is in a different tempo and very different time signature. Jonny* ;)
Can't believe i didnt peep that, thanks!
In my opinion, Kendrick's best album. And a top 5 album of all time
Thank you for this you guys should really start uploading more
That sampled Tupac interview in Mortal man was truly one of the most beautiful moments in music history. Such a nice homage, I feel like he's right there talking, each time I hear it.
I dunno, I already loved the album. Discovering the intracreativity behind it, I fell in love with it more.
i didnt know sampling lyrics was a thing
sampling the beats, referencing the lyrics
Please a round of applause for the greatest rapper of this generation
Tpab forever gonna be my favorite album of all time.
I love the way this album is because of this!! all the samples from various things like the real original hip hop used to be!!
This is why Kendrick Lamar is one of the best rappers he can use other beats sounds and some words from other songs make put it in his and make his own version
Welp , see you guys later gotta go listen to tpab another 49x
who ever edited this videos deserve a raise
Better than the Complex one, thanks genius!
love those samples
kendrick on goat level
that pac interview gives me chills
that switch up at 1:45 !!
that was insane editing...keep it up
yall should do more vids like dis
Michael Mcdonald's " Sweet Freedom"( hook)= "These Walls"
Thank you. I almost went crazy trying to remember this song.❤❤❤
He sampled from my country Sweden's radio?! That's so cool
The very last one had me crying
Half are not samples but references.
I know they mention it at the beginning of video, but the title is still kept misleading.
That interview at the end of Mortal Man heavily impacted me. Damn.
Seeing this, takes out the magic from the music.
This video is so dope
I still fuck with the album
HOLY FUCKKKK IVE LISTENED to this album back to back so many times and JEEEEZ IT MAKES SENSE NOW WOWWWWW
One of the Best Hip Hop/Rap albums of the past 2 years.
that sufjan sample is great
it's ironic how the sample he used for "U" Is from "Loving you ain't complicated" when Kendrick repeats "Loving you is complicated" in the song.
The drums on Mortal Man is a sample too
Yeah, Fela Kuti samples.
the way knxwledge flipped that is crazy
I will be downloading every song now
you should do one for captain murphy's "duality "
this album is pure genius,in my top 5 of all time.
great video, can you do the same for isiah rashads new album? The Sun's Tirade
Wow... Just phenomenal
just the song mortal man should have gotten him the award, the whole album was art. there's a bunch of rappers saying they dont do music, its art. nigga this shit art fr
U is one of the albums best songs
SAMPLE FOR MOMMA AND I GET NO EYE FOR BACK IS MY FAVORITE .....THAT MOMMA SAMPLE AWW I LOVE IT
Wow the breakdown of this was so amazing to me idk why
THAT WASSS TUPAC IN MORTAL MANNN!! HOLY SHITTT I thought they just used someone that sounded like him but daamnnnn. mind fucking blown rn
Great videos showing the samples. I like already!!!!!
I love King Kunta. It's just an amazing song!
love love love to pimp a butterfly
References. References everywhere. Love it. Hommages.
Love the fact that the track he sampled for "U" is called "loving you AIN'T complicated" and in the song he says "loving you IS complicated" everything is so well thought about on this album. That's why it's the best
I love this. Thanks.
Greatest album ever
best album of the 2010s no doubt
He also sampled "OMG" by Usher in King Kunta!
wtf people find a reason to hate on drake. Kendrick takes some parts of a lyric from a sample and uses he gets accused of stealing but I never hear anything about kanye
That's not even comparable.
Nothing wrong with drake sampling. the probably is people write verses for him
+Dirtball Daquan think about it though drake will take a few words and repeat them Kendrick relates the words to his situation
I'd love for there to be playlists for the songs that each one of these albums samples. I usually go back to an album for the music more than the verses anyway.
The sample from "Momma" actually comes from Knxwledge's "So[rt]" but the sample from that song does come from "On Your Own"
So nobody gonna say nothing 'bout this
Maybe it's just me but "How much a Dollar Cost" sounds like it may have been samples from Radiohead's "Pyramid song"
Most of the samples were lyrics and lines from other songs and media, so that just tells you how much of the album was original scores.
TPAB is for mature ass ppl in their early 20s, ppl in their primes, and ppl who was around when Hip Hop culture started.
Pats Ballin Out This Year I think it's for all who love that more "classical" type rap. A blast from the past.
Pats Ballin Out This Year I'm 16 and loved it, looking for the messages and everything. Wtfym???
Y3ll0ω Stickinson same. I really love this album along with all the others new put out. Just bought the Cd for this and untitled the other day
i'm 17 and it's my fav album is that bad :((
Pats Ballin Out This Year I'm 15 and Kendrick Lamar is one if not my favorite rapper of all time. Or at least this generation. Him and Cole
mortal man is beautiful
I want to find that ad-lib for the track "Alright"
King Kunta is full of great references holy shit.
very cool genius thank you
didn't expect Sufjan Stevens to be on there
Super dope , also , y'all should do Logic Samples. he's got some good ones as well.
poetry
i have a feeling that kendrick implies in king kunta that he used to ghostwrite for kanye and jay ("24/7 365 days" like in all day by kanye, and then jayz's thank you "i was gonna kill a couple rappesr but they did it to themselves")
i wouldnt consider saying a line that another musician has said before is sampling
it is a interpretation of the original. a noticeable punchline so the artist who came up with it first is credited because it was already apart of a song that was released.
Could be considers quoting
It's called Lyrical interpolation. it's a way to pay homage
MORTAL MAN IS THE BEST RAP SONG EVER
no
+DreamVillians 4Life UM.... OK..... PROVE ME WRONG??
I just came here to see if my suspicions of The Prayer being sampled in king kunta was right, come to find out Kendrick is an actual genius
Great video !
Momma & you ain't gotta lie are the best
Y'all Kan't Do #StillBrazy 'cause that was straight Blassic 🔥🔥
kendrick is the goat
Just listened to A Year And A Day by Beastie Boys and I could've sworn he used the instrumentals on that song for the chorus of i
i feel like every commenter forgot in the video it says every sample AND references from TPAB.
I feel good that from all the beats I have made i havent sampled not one beat. I stay real with oroginal instrumentals no need for sampling.
Sampling is art.
Thank the lord someone did this for me
mortal man and momma 🔥
