You can use fence clips instead of zip ties: they are more durable, reusable, and designed to work with steel fence posts. They are cheaper than zip ties too.

I did trellises using wooden sticks and thread made from dry banana leaves and yes it works well .
Your channel and you m'aam are very inspirational and the close to nature appeal is just awesome

The video shows T-posts but the picture was of a U-post. They are lighter weight and typically cheaper which can be an adequate substitute. However, if you’re in an area with very high winds or strong storms roll through, they can twist and buckle if not secured properly. I use hose clamps; strong, secure, and easily removed if I need to replace a post or move trellis. If you have hard soil a rubber mallet is asking for more work. Metal mallet or post driver will make job, quicker and easier.

In some areas with harder soil, a rubber mallet will not work for driving a post into the ground. Use a small sledge hammer instead.

Badge comment! You’ve seen how I do my trellises. But you are Garden Exemplar!! I’ve scaled back massively on the garden this year. No time. Cucumbers are chugging along. Did bush beans instead of long beans which are rock stars. Great video, Nicole. You are a fine woman my friend. That long, beautiful, hair of yours. Have a great weekend. ❤️

Hey, Dwayne! So glad your bush beans are rocking it out for your. My cucumbers are finally starting to slow down to a more manageable pace. I couldn't give them away fast enough these past few weeks!

You can find a “post pounder” for about $35 - it’s a heavy steel tube, closed on one end, with handles on the side - it slides over the post and drives it in. They work great. You may have a “Tractor Supply” near you or they probably have them on Amazon. You want it to be heavy of course.

Fabulous stuff! Thanks for such a detailed breakdown.
2:00 For that gate it would advisable to take pliers and curl those exposed ends back, prevent scratches or eye injury.

The T-posts have a pre-formed galvanized clip for securing wire fence to the posts. Check your fencing dept of your home center ( not in the garden center) or search Amazon. A bag of 50 is nominal cost UA-cam has videos on how to clip them on. They clip on and off securely so you don't need single use zip ties.

Your videos gets my thumb up at the start as I always learn something.
I've a trailer so I do have the 16' cattle panel and love it.
On my 16' hoop cattle panels trailace I have started the climbing zucchini ( not going to try to spell it's name) as you grew.
6' T post are the biggest challenge to setup easy and safer if you have a T post driver tool ( adding the cost) but I to have used the hammer.
I'm trying Luba or "sponge gourges" also for the first time.
I also did the no tilt garden as you taught.
Thanks for the many fine videos you and your hubby has done so well..

you can get 4" x 16' cattle panels for about 25 bucks. two t posts per side on the outside of the arch 8 bucks each. 57 bucks total. you can cut the panels and make several vertical walls for boxes. much more economical

    Great design and explanation.
I have a non related - semi related question.
This year many cucumbers came up from my compost soil, so I planted several together. They are growing great and flowering but nothing has fertilized. I get plenty of pollinators (my new cucumbers are already fruiting well)
So my question is, are some second gen. plants a waste of time? Have you grow volunteers from the compost? The volunteer tomatoes are healthy with fruit.
If they don’t product by July I’m going to pull them so they don’t take up so much room.
I plant on making this trellis for my cucumbers that are producing.

There's also a technique called "the Florida weave" that I use for my big tomatoes (I'm using the flat metal trellises this year for the cherry/grape tomatoes) -- check out my tomato tips video from last year. I explain how to do the weave.

One addition to a good video: the wire ends at the edges should be bent around so you don't get stabbed. It's tedious and not easy, but makes it much safer.

Would a 14 gauge welded wire be too flimsy? I am having a hard time finding a 12.5 gauge. I know you said you wouldn't go thinner than 12.5 but just wondering as it is hard to find in my area. Thank you! I love your videos!
