Also, to get fastest performance on the O3s with the goggles 2 you will need to set the videomode to 100FPS on the O3. O3 and G2 Combo will work best then you set the video mode to 4:3 2,7k 100fps. It has also the best FOV.

I can’t afford both...and I still wish the Goggles 2 could be as small as the fatsharks, but at least its much closer to that size than the v2. Regardless, digital is awesome! Make sure to do the wtfos butter hack on your V2s. The set I got last September were on the firmware that couldn’t be rolled back with Margerine. 3.00.16 or whatever but Butter fixes all that.
Just a note. I don't argue with your feeling about the delay and image colors, but your test isn't scientific. It stuttered because you didn't arm... and it is in low power mode. It doesn't really matter which equipment you use. Use what ever keeps you flying and enjoyning the hobby.
I purchased my V2 Googles back in November 2021, pushed the needed software with Windows 7, along with the 1200mw hack. Googles worked perfect for 2 months, then the image would freeze up during mid flight, causing me to use GPS rescue on my long range quads that I built. I sent my V2 Googles to DJI repair center and they ended up replacing the Core Board Module for free since this was a known issue for some Googles. If they would have not honored any warranty, the Core Board Module would cost $160 and repair service fee $65. They did remove my skin decal sticker and I had to update the software and 1200mw hack again, V2 Googles have worked great since then.
Just to rectify.. When armed it stops being laggy! The 2 goggles have 2 completely different behaviour. The new goggles goes in low power mode if disarmed.
Appreciate your stuff but you showed the Goggles in low power mode before flight which is not remotely comparable to the framerate in-flight. I know you mentioned it but it's super far from reality as a way to represent how it appears.
No you aren't the only one in the world! Very noticeable difference. I can also confirm the very comfortable fit of the old Goggles. Very helpful review!
Easy solution for mac users: Bootcamp windows partition. I updated my v2 goggles on my mac, using bootcamp running Windows 10, and it updated just fine.
I don't have any of your issues. Currently there is a FW issue with the Goggles2. Set your transmission to manual channel selection and make sure you have the Ham hack, this fixed all my issues.
7:35 big mistake here in the goggles 2 you can see a warning that your air unit in low power mode, this majorly decreases frame rate. Does not react the same when at full power. Don't know why the v2 was higher fps Im not happy with goggles 2 though, the optics and fit suck. Id recommended get a used v2 on ebay and get new foam for it.
Don't lie please... G2 are 7mbps in low power mode, V2 are 50mbps with low power mode disabled. If you did this test connected to the same O3 you wouldn't notice any difference.
I had V1s and wanted to run the 03, so i bought the Goggles 2. After 7 days i returned them and purchased the V2s. Maybe it was just me, but i found the optics to be hideous. Just couldn't deal with not seeing a fully unblurred image.
Hey bre, wangley day, fingely dingely fangely way, zappidy happidy nappidy flay. Also, I abso luv your face. It is cool and very funny at the same time, although mostly funny. I could stare at it all day and stay laughing. Thanks for having such a funny face bre, it's super, and funny. I'm so glad it won't fit, otherwise it wouldn't be as steely.
i had no idea you could plug the V2 goggles to an iPad. I just got a new ipad after about 10 years since mine died. I can use the USBC cable that came with the iPad...lol Did you do the WTF hack on the goggles for the OSD stuff? I haven't touched my stuff in 6 months since life got in the way.
Are you planning on selling that little 03 camera mount for your apex? Or selling the files? Really looking for a good solution for my 03 camera and that one looks great
It would be cool to see goggle companies do what the new Beyond VR headset is doing which is custom fitting the faceplate to your face. When you order the headset, you take a lidar scan of your face with an iPhone and send them the 3d scan. They use that to make a perfect fitting foam cushion for your headset.
That might be possible by 3d-printing a foam insert that is custom. There is soft flamelike material. Check out colorfab if curious of filament properties. Filament called varioshore.
! That was the case on V1 and V2 as well, drastically modified aftermarket foam to fit the previous goggles comfortably.. It is same with the new ones, with added point in nose blocking for some faces. But first modified foam already made it clear in 4:3 elements for me. Waiting for even better one from Ali - haters gonna hate but the screen difference is so good.
@@sos1723 lol I’ve definitely never been told I have a flat face or small nose. The stock face plate doesn’t work for me. Maybe having some cheek bones helps so the nose doesn’t have to bear all the weight…I added a small piece of foam just under the bottom of the faceplate that rests on my cheek bones. That fixed the nose issue for me.
@@sos1723 yes i do not have nose, yet able to fly and fit the goggles myself with edits, same as previous and ALL other goggles I tried. None is perfect without edits. Dunno why ppl are mad :D fpv is expensive, goodbye to firmware development on v1 v2 ;)
I got rid of mine too. I will see what O4 brings in Q4 2024. Hint DJI they they need to fit my face without causing excruciating pain to the bridge of my nose and have wide optics like the v1/2 so my eyelashes don't have to touch to see properly.
Remove all foam on the v2 and just add some foam on the lower lip under eye segment. Your nose looks like mine. Should fit you too like that. The screen on the V2 is far superior and DJI will likely cut comparability at some point for the old goggle
One thing: goggles 2 records osd on dvr and phone video out, so you can rewatch all stuffs, include long-lat gps (if needed), but goggles v2 doesnt, when the O3 air unit turn off, video transmitter off and all OSD will go.
The foam fitting I completely agree with. The old ones fit a lot better. However, I would argue 1080p vs 810p is a massive difference. I ended up doing the opposite and selling the V2's because the new goggles were a night and day difference in visual quality. I'm not sure if the hand waving test was very accurate since the O3's low power mode using the new goggles drops the refresh to 60hz (maybe even 30hz actually) and 7mbit regardless of your video mode. When connected to the V2 goggles, I don't think low power mode works the same way since its still running at 50mbit. Your obviously a much better flyer than I am, but I couldn't tell a difference in flying between the two goggles. I can tell you the mistake I see most people make on the '2' goggles is running at 60fps modes and not one of the 100fps modes. Running in any of the 60fps OR 120fps modes, drops the transmit rate to 60fps. You have to run at one of the 100fps modes to get the low latency 100fps transmit speeds.
i agree, there is no way you can see the difference (100hz vs 144hz) when the o3 has a maximum 120fps with the v2 goggles, it's not 144fps so it can justify the "144hz". So the 20fps difference on such as high refresh rate is not even possible to see the difference. Maybe, only if you play cs go. The v2 goggles on the video is clearly not even 60fps!
I don't think he has seen the Chris Rosser video's about the latency in the different fps modes on the goggle 2's, I'm curious as well to see if he is in 120fps mode or in 100fps on the goggles 2. 120fps sucks indeed, terrible latency and it's actually 60fps reprojected..
I found a decent solution to the goggles 2 foam fitment that gave me a zero light leak fit, and doesn't play tummysticks with the bridge of my nose. It did involve cutting the stock foam away from the face plate for about 2" outside and under each eye, then slipping some thin foam in and gluing it in. But it came out pretty clean. I understand your reasons. The form factor was the #1 jumping off point for me. I am really hoping they do ok without a fan when summer comes. Not putting a fan in was kind of a numb nuts move imo.
8:40 I guess it looks "stuttery" only because OLED have instantaneous pixel reaction time. In Googles v2 you have blurring effect as LCD pixels are not that fast in chaining their colors.
About time ⏲️ honest and reliable facts about those two. Never had the goggles 2 and I don't think 🤔 after seeing this I'm. There is a reason why the goggles v2 r sold out. Thank u.
Sold mine too and went back to the old one. DJI kind of just sells immature crap anymore. Whether it's goggles that you have to cut because they don't fit, or an avata that just keeps falling out of the sky. Overpriced, immature shit that you can get angry around with.
I don't think the stuttering is anything to do with framerate, I think it's because the shutter speed is too fast. The same effect can be generated by using 'Sport" mode on a video camera. It's why they shoot movies at 24 FPS because the eye/brain sees one motion-blurred frame to the next as a smooth transition, whereas it has problems resolving consecutive razor-sharp images as a smooth transition. It's also why camera drones use neutral density filters so the shutter stays open longer to induce motion blur.
I don’t understand why you would test the refresh rate with the drones unarmed, low power mode is a lot harsher on O3 than it is on o2.5(vistas and such)
@@MrSteeleFPV you mean having both armed at full power? I’ll have to check it out I guess, am still keeping my v2’s either way because I fly analong with them lol
Hertz refresh rate absolutely makes a difference. I miss my plasma television when gaming. These new OLEDs and the regular LEDs all suck. Give me my plasma at 600 Hz, 120 Hz ain’t it.

@@Fly_High_FPV Thanks man. I plan on jumping on board this spring. I'm just trying to keep the priorities first but I'll get there.
Make sure to do the wtfos butter hack on your V2s. The set I got last September were on the firmware that couldn’t be rolled back with Margerine. 3.00.16 or whatever but Butter fixes all that.
Seems other than the form factor of the goggles 2, that aren’t that comfortable, the V2 goggles are better!
Plus, you can fly analog really well on the V2 goggles!
Just to clarify, absolutely the same behavior on v2 goggles...
ARM THE QUAD! they’re in low mode otherwise.
Thanks Mr. Steele
I was considering a purchase but will stick with my old V2s.
Good afternoon, please tell me how you got the opportunity to display the image from your goggles v2 on the iPhone?
Easy solution for mac users: Bootcamp windows partition. I updated my v2 goggles on my mac, using bootcamp running Windows 10, and it updated just fine.
I don't have any of your issues. Currently there is a FW issue with the Goggles2. Set your transmission to manual channel selection and make sure you have the Ham hack, this fixed all my issues.
wanted to switch from analog to digital and you convinced me to buy a V2 goggles+air unit o3. the next days we will see how it works for me
7:35 big mistake here in the goggles 2 you can see a warning that your air unit in low power mode, this majorly decreases frame rate. Does not react the same when at full power. Don't know why the v2 was higher fps
Im not happy with goggles 2 though, the optics and fit suck. Id recommended get a used v2 on ebay and get new foam for it.
Don't lie please... G2 are 7mbps in low power mode, V2 are 50mbps with low power mode disabled. If you did this test connected to the same O3 you wouldn't notice any difference.
I'm glad that my V2 still work well with the 03 units. Perfect combo For me also
Thanks for taking the time 👍🏻🔥🔥👀👀💰💰
updatable on mac
just need to mod the cable to use a 7.4V lion
Yeah, I had issues updating on mac os as well. I ended up running windows in a virtual machine since I didnt have my PC
I'm still rocking the V1 goggles, with my skill level they're plenty good enough
I started to think i was the only one lmao
I had V1s and wanted to run the 03, so i bought the Goggles 2. After 7 days i returned them and purchased the V2s. Maybe it was just me, but i found the optics to be hideous. Just couldn't deal with not seeing a fully unblurred image.
Hold on - at 10:13 - this is for O3 unit or regardless of vtx, the v2 will output to an ipad via Dji fly app??
Yeah, I can see the difference. well done.
Really looking for a good solution for my 03 camera and that one looks great
Lots of "keyboard pilot" info in this. You are talking about the refresh rate between the two like its an issue. Its a 2ms difference.......
😂. Not latency bro it’s refresh rate. Consider a 144fps vs 300fps monitor Sure you can play but there’s an advantage not all can tell thought
I wish the v2 goggles had the form factor of the goggles 2. That was my biggest gripe switching from analog to DJI: big chungus goggles.
Video out to iOS devices only works with 03 air unit. Original air unit and vista don’t work
It would be cool to see goggle companies do what the new Beyond VR headset is doing which is custom fitting the faceplate to your face. When you order the headset, you take a lidar scan of your face with an iPhone and send them the 3d scan. They use that to make a perfect fitting foam cushion for your headset.
Crazy!😄
That might be possible by 3d-printing a foam insert that is custom. There is soft flamelike material. Check out colorfab if curious of filament properties. Filament called varioshore.
Love the goggles 2 personally. I did have to buy aftermarket foam to make them fit comfortably though.
@@tomaszboril Yep, exactly.
You have a flat face and no nose???
Why are the v2 set at 50mb and the goggles 2 at 7mb?
I got rid of mine too. I will see what O4 brings in Q4 2024. Hint DJI they they need to fit my face without causing excruciating pain to the bridge of my nose and have wide optics like the v1/2 so my eyelashes don't have to touch to see properly.
Remove all foam on the v2 and just add some foam on the lower lip under eye segment. Your nose looks like mine. Should fit you too like that. The screen on the V2 is far superior and DJI will likely cut comparability at some point for the old goggle
One thing: goggles 2 records osd on dvr and phone video out, so you can rewatch all stuffs, include long-lat gps (if needed), but goggles v2 doesnt, when the O3 air unit turn off, video transmitter off and all OSD will go.
the line from deuce bigalo was hilarius! 😂
Categorically false. The v2's run 3mps in low power mode. Regardless that doesn't change the refresh rate of the screens.
i agree, there is no way you can see the difference (100hz vs 144hz) when the o3 has a maximum 120fps with the v2 goggles, it's not 144fps so it can justify the "144hz". So the 20fps difference on such as high refresh rate is not even possible to see the difference. Maybe, only if you play cs go. The v2 goggles on the video is clearly not even 60fps!
@@JohnArapakos I surprised Steele didn't know that!
You are absolutely correct. What is Steele smokin 😂
*this youtube video should be 60fps to see the hand movement more clearly
yes master, take out micro un o3,the inperpulipar distance in my case 71-72mm,when is open left zone...close right zone...
Thank you for saving me from the upgrade! I loved the idea of flying without my glasses but duh! LOS! So true 👍
Damn fpv has changed alot in the past 5 years damnn
8:40 I guess it looks "stuttery" only because OLED have instantaneous pixel reaction time. In Googles v2 you have blurring effect as LCD pixels are not that fast in chaining their colors.
Give use the info on how you mounted the camera. It looks really good. And it looks like it clears the standoffs in view???
About time ⏲️ honest and reliable facts about those two. Never had the goggles 2 and I don't think 🤔 after seeing this I'm. There is a reason why the goggles v2 r sold out. Thank u.
Low power mode...please arming the quad
Thanks for this. I''m still using V1 goggles... for work. Good to know nowadays I don't always need the latest version of everything.
Sold mine too and went back to the old one. DJI kind of just sells immature crap anymore.
Whether it's goggles that you have to cut because they don't fit, or an avata that just keeps falling out of the sky. Overpriced, immature shit that you can get angry around with.
Thank you for sharing. I was seriously considering the goggles 2 and selling my v2’s but you just saved me a ton of money on goggles. 😂
I use the v2 goggles with the 03 and with kiss and fettec I have to reboot my goggles every time to keep my osd. Do you experience this??
No but I’m on bf with v2s and and o3 and my OSD is all shifted right and then wraps around to the left and is driving me insane.
V2 still does its job pretty well. Thanks for the comparison!
I prefer the V2, by far.
Thank you sir for the honest comparison 😁
Love my DJI V2 Goggles for Freestyle.....had to buy HDZ for racing...........Thx Steele, have fun flying ! Onwards and Upwards
I don’t understand why you would test the refresh rate with the drones unarmed, low power mode is a lot harsher on O3 than it is on o2.5(vistas and such)
From my testing it’s still
The same result
@@MrSteeleFPV you mean having both armed at full power? I’ll have to check it out I guess, am still keeping my v2’s either way because I fly analong with them lol
Hertz refresh rate absolutely makes a difference. I miss my plasma television when gaming. These new OLEDs and the regular LEDs all suck. Give me my plasma at 600 Hz, 120 Hz ain’t it.
I did exactly like you with the Old V2 Goggles Nose piece haha I needed to cut it for it to fit properly with the new foam. Big noses unite! :P
I just got a pair of Goggles 2. I’m cutting a cord and installing a 9v bec to an XT60 connector.
Is nobody watching until the very end? How is this NOT breaking every fpv forum/fb group?!
At 10:17, Mr. S talks about video OUT from Goggles V2 - "just plug it in via the usb-c dongle, and then to your iphone or ipad, hit 'go fly'.." What needs to be done to make this happen? We should alllll be able to replicate the same thing... I have the dongle, have a lightning cable, iPhone, iPad, DJI O3 unit on a quad - follow suit with the description in the video, yet no output from V2.... what's up?!
I would also like to know this! No success here either. Anyone have further info?!?!
You have done your service to our hobby, not sure where you go from here. Yes your my God I'm FPV
the padding you use on your "old" V2`s looks soo comfortable!
what do you mean about the walksnail system ? now with some updates?
I love my V2 goggles especially with the new hack to now run custom code one them.
thanks for the video buddy! Very Interesting findings. Appreciate you sharing this
Love me some confirmation bias. I just bought the V2 and O3 for these exact reasons :P
And Steele isn’t wrong 🤷♂️
