Should have called them the Goggles 2 v2🤣
😅
I have them, you need to activate them with the dji assistant 2 (consumer version) NOT the assistant 2 fpv version. No joke
Gg2 -v2😂
You mean goggles 2 v0.5
G2 v0.5
Ian, thanks for the review! You go into so many technical details! (battery from inside, FOV overlays, RF spectrum, ...) Pleasure for my technical mind.
You're unique source of many important info that the community wants to know.
Well done and thank you Ian, a very informative, unbiased and thorough review.
Thank you for this video, I'm very new to the drone world and already in dire need of some FPV. As someone with a lot of experience wearing NVGs in a military setting, that counterweight from the battery pack sounds like a godsend regarding neck fatigue. I don't know how much the goggles might weigh compared to the NVGs I wore, but any weight in the front of the neck is always putting an additional strain on the neck muscles and I'd rather avoid that as much as possible. I understand I could just attach the battery pack on another model to the back strap, but having it already integrated is a huge plus for me. I think you've sold me on the Integra as well as earned a subscriber. Keep up the good work and thanks again!
thanks for the review! I was very confused by which to buy, really helped! thank you a lot for the deep explanations!
Thanks for the info man! I was trying to decide between the goggles 2 and the integra and I think I will go with the integra now. You are awesome!
Man i love your review the attention to details specially for people like who love criticism in a productive manner lots of love maaan
You are the best i prefer your reviews over any other youtuber ❤
Man keep up the good work i have followed you since the community was bashing you about the honesty ❤
Thanks for the review! Amazing job 👍
Fantastic review, Ian! Thanks! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for such a detailed review so quickly.
great review with qualitative details as usual and expected in your channel. thanks for my future saving 👍
Great review Ian! Cheers 🍻
Thank you. Now I understand what's going on with the different goggles.
A very detailed video, i am about to spring for an Avata and was torn between the goggles, i think you convinced me to save some money and get the goggles integra.
Great review Ian
Glad they gave it a name like the Integra. Goggles 2 goggles v2 like what the hell. been using a battery clip for the back of the gogglesv2 and short cable and they are perfect. It is better to have the batteries interchangeable. Dislike when gear is being reviewed by others and they don't even have the actual product they are reviewing. Great video and information as always.
Great review!
Great review ! Thanks
DJI finally did _something_ about the comfort and optics issue that so many had with the Goggle2. I can see everything clearly edge to edge in these. The field of view is smaller, yes, but that's not what I'm thinking while flying. Since it's at 100% of the display configuration, it looks natural. With the headstrap, you can angle it upward off your cheekbones and a nose a bit to relieve the bridge pressure if you're someone like me. The face mold needs to be reworked to make the comfort perfect, but it's probably not going to happen -- the head pillow/strap system is an alright compromise. Definitely better than Goggle2 for me in those categories, great overview Ian.
Similar results to me overall.
It's interesting one of the reasons Fat Shark gave for their HD3s having a narrower FOV than their HD2s was that it was not possible to engineer blur free edges with ther HD2s wider (50deg or so IIRC) than the narrower HD3s FOFV (45 deg IIRC). I may have the FOVs of the Fat Sharks wrong - it's been years since I've read FatShark spec sheets, but it sounds like DJI might be having the same challenge.
@@1337fliteHD2 FOV was 50 degrees and HD3 dialed that back to 42 degrees but you are correct nonetheless in your assessment that this was an issue that Fatshark also faced and it was a reason for scaling back the FOV.
I think DJI simply failed to do enough facial and optical diversity testing, or they would have figured out that G2 were a bad goggle design. Somehow, even with their multi million dollars of resources ended up making the same mistake Fatshark did many years prior and it’s shockingly stupid and surprising to me tbh.
I called it that DJI would NOT do anything to fix the G2 also, because their options for doing so were limited. And that anyone unhappy with them should return them. Then they release the Integra which is what the G2 should have been...
Thank you sir. I appreciate the simple explanation.
thx. for making it easy to head for the integra. In Europe/Germany the difference is 190€, plus the Battery it adds uo to 229€. Definitly ok to save some Money for an O3 Air Unit!
Thanks for the info but I still like the goggles 2 with the focus adjustment. At first I hated the touch pad but now I'm used to it and it didn't bother me anymore.
I would have bought it if it had hdmi input to it, it would have resolved almost all my needs, thanks for the awesome review Ian
tks my friend! great review!
Great content and review. I like what I see but a huge exception. What would have been a bright idea by dji is to utilize new screens to achieve the 120hz refresh rate the v2’s have. It’s a noticeable difference when flying aggressive freestyle and it baffles me.
i think we kinda lack good info on what its like to use the v2's with 03 units, 16-9 cameras versus native 4-3 cameras, i noticed a big difference switching from 16-9 to 4-3, more than i anticipated. so i'm imagining going back with the 03 units as a definite loss of vertical fov, possibly experts can fly fine with it but beginners and non experts would really miss that extra fov.
Thanks for the vid.
Great video Chris Hau
Great video....THANKS!!
Awesome review! G2 seems have infinite diopter adjustment while this one has in 1 diopter increment. If reviewed by glasses wearer verdict could have been somewhat different. To me it seems integra is G2 SE, a stripped out cheaper version.
Thanks a lot for your really good review!
Do you know if there is an option to have video out over USB-C while charging?
it might be important but I like that they had added the lenses into the even cheaper package cause I can remember that the RE came without and that I had to pay 40€ or so on top, later when I needed different lenses I was not able to get them anymore which is a shame, even third parties missing to produce them.
What I still do not know or might have overheard is the fogging issue the FPV Goggles 2 were famous for.
Thanks a lot for such a fast in depth review pointing out the important points, even though I am still not sure what I might be missing without the wifi considering that the goggles have to connect one way or the other to the drone or air unit or via Phone.
At the end dji is fighting the others back with a cheaper option. They must hope to gain marketshare otherwise this product does not make sense. Better optics on the cheaper product is not the best reference for the 150€ more expensive product. Most likely they will loose more potential GOGGLES 2 buyers to the Integra than conquering from the walksnail & hdzero side.
For me it is an option cause i still rely on dji drones but I need more support of dji drones to upgrade - otherwise I will stay with Mavic 2 another year.
amazing review
Thanks!
Great review, Ian. Maybe now it’s time for a comparison between the v2s and the Integras. With the new firmware update for the v2 goggles and legit support for canvas mode the only advantage I see with the Integra over v2s is the oled screen. Prove me wrong! Man, I love the way my OSD looks now ❤❤❤
Yeah but the oled screen is supposedly a lot better? I just bought them will post here my experience. Currently using the v2 Goggles. I am just hesitant on the fitment of the nose at this point. I tried the Goggles 2 and did not like them at all. Immediately returned those.
@@publicname515 I tried the goggles 2 on at bestbuy and surprisingly they fit me pretty well. I’ve had my nose flattened unintentionally a few times though so that might have something to do with it lol
@@SkeezyFPV 🤣
Thank you for the great information.
Not liking the battery arrangement. Can't plug in my headtracker unit.
Fixed lenses could be troublesome if you share your goggles with someone else.
Having the GPS so you do not need to connect to your phone is a big plus.
Do you know if the DJI RC Motion 2 controller is compatible with the DJI FPV drone ?
I'm surprised DJI didn't make the built-in headstrap battery replaceable. Could have been done fairly easily and would have provided another way to bring in sales. Everyone wants multiple batteries "just in case".
Hi Ian, could you please explain the FOV to me? Are the screen sizes of both goggles the same and that you can see is different or you see the same but the sizes of the screens are different? Thank you
Would love a comparison of the V2 vs the Integra! :-)
Honestly, DJI didn't make it an easy choice between the Integra and the G2. But I went for the Integra yesterday. Hope I made the right choice.
I sort of got excited about the RID in the google so we do not have to add to FPV drones used commercially. So for regular FPV drones we do not need to worry about the intrusion of RID either.
thank you for another great video- in the absence of a record button does that imply that the original air unit will auto record? On the goggles 2 it has to be done manually (unless I was doing it wrong)
I wonder if DJi will make it possible for battery pack for Integras to fit the goggles 2
when you were flying and talking. the pinched nose sound and only able to breath through the mouth tells me all I need to know. Thanks for taking one for the team. We also know that DJi headstraps wear out badly/quickly. Throw an internal power cable into the mix and that does not sit well with me at all. V2s are still my go to. Plus I can add head tracking for fixed wing with those as per my vids. Cheers
Just to note the flight Audio went though heavy noise removal (resolve voice isolation) as it’s windy as hell. The stock audio is much less nasal. I’m not going to say it’s perfect on the nose however it’s better than my G2. However the overall face shape is the largely the same as it’s still not perfect. It’s better but not perfect.
@@MadRC yeah when I fly with them cus I got a big conker that's how I sound haha.
Haha. Yea your not alone lol
@@MadRC wonder if they will release the faceplate as a spare part. Seems like they have added a little bit of plastic to push the face away slightly... Think that might make the burred edges worse on the g2 mind
They're designed for Asian faces not white man faces 🤥
Thank you for your informative review. Best one I've seen. Is there a way to set up the Integra to record automatically when bound to a caddx unit?
NICE
What do you mean by overlap of lenses? Do you have issues with Goggles2 even on custom foams? iFlight one is great and nah we dont need to see corners sharp, just peripheral.
Thanks Ian for your excellent review. I have eye issues, glare related. I'm interested in the DJI goggles for the reduction in glare and hopefully better sight of where the drone is going. I'm primarily interested in getting excellent video. The video you show is likely from the controller or headset. I have the Mavic 3 Pro. Do you know, will the video record in 4k in the Mavic 3 Pro while using the goggles? Is there an option with the Integra goggles for Cinematic mode? Or is that unnecessary in your view?
"Well, I use the word sunshining loosely here in Wales" 😆
How is the battery cable connected to the goggles? Is it plugged in or permanently connected? Could you replace the whole strap+battery if either fails?
IT WOULD BE NICE IF DJI ADD INTERNAL GPS FOR G2 , OR UPGRADE G2 FOR INTEG...NO PROBLEM
Great job again Ian. Thank you. I need to ask if anyone has tried the new foam replacement from iFlight? I’m tired of buying new goggles and HDZero’s should be here soon. I like variety, but not enough to get the Integra 1’s. 😊
If we can get the pilot GPS coords over to Betaflight as telemetry, the RTH rescue mode can return to the pilot, instead of the takeoff point.
Also a follow-me mode would be cool when pilot is in the passenger seat tootling down the lane.
This would be cool, I don’t think so but it would be cool
Ahem... Ardupilot
That s a shame DJI do not upgrade Google v2 firmware to support last version of caddx or airunit firmware.... Cause I really like immersive fov of v2....
Are the lenses the same size as the pop outs for the v2? I ordered special lenses for v2 with astigmatism corrections (eyes are less round than others).
Thanks you, can you shut off the light sensor so the screen stays on with the goggle 2? Great job on video.
Is there a way to shut off the sensor for the screen for goggles 2, would prefer the screen on when I turn the googles on, or should I just put a piece of tap over the sensor.
Logic step from the V2s for sure. Eventually.
I'm waiting for a teardown to see how you could exchange the antennas😁
I'm looking forward to DJI Googles that will take advantage of the O4 video transmission system.
Thank you for the review. How many other dji drones will these work with?
What angle and ground speed setting do you recommend for GPS Rescue with betaflight 4.4.0, Chimera 7 Pro V2 and 8000mA LiIon battery?
The goal is to maximize the distance traveled with a minimum of battery.
Great review. I seriously appreciate all the work you put into this review. The FOV comparison Action2 images were critical for me. I was just about to pre-order the G2's and now I have some decisions to make. Integra or G2. I will absolutely try my friends G2's to see how the optics are for me before I decide.
This was done in under 24 hours lol. A big task.
If you find out about any replacement foam for goggles 2, let. Us know. I would not purchase the Google until someone offer a foam to add to the goggles, goggle 2 has so many light leaks turn goggle screen of in mid flight, have to where them real tight to get them to work. Can't fly long with the goggles that right.
@@MadRC Hello, nice review. They stripped wireless streaming, but could you please confirm if they still have the broadcast mode to be able to share the video to another pair of goggles, or to receive the feed from another pair of goggles? This feature is a make or break for me.
@@Rueges I have the Integra and Broadcast mode is still available
What's up with the motion 2 controller looking forward to that is it going to be able to work with the original DJI FPV drone. ?
Does it have 4:3 fov for the O3 and air units with nebula pro cams or other cam with 4:3 fov support?
Great review! I think I'll go with the goggles 2... I think! 😅
Great video! I'm having issues binding my mini 4 pro motion control to the drone. Goggles work great with button function but does not bind with drone??? Please help and make a video...
Will you try to mod the antennas?
And have anyone tried to remove the screws on the front panel of the goggle to see if antenna is locked in with that screw?
I'd love to see a teardown of these. I'm curious to see if we could non-destructively remove the antennas and replace with u.fl to SMA (perhaps with 3D printed adapters).
There is a couple videos of someone crudely modding them with external sma antennas but replacing the u.fl to sma with hole drilled but not a 3d printed adapter or anything to replace the original antennas. Someone should see if replaceable strap and wire for the strap to battery in case it fails in the future out of warranty. Would be nice to see same mods as V2 goggles which I cannot find for cheaper like digital to analog, not likely without AV in.
Good explanations but in a few years with stretching and getting wet because of the summer heat.
How much for a new battery and head strap ?.
I have the Google V2 and Goggle 2 I like them both and both got new face foam. The Goggle V2 are so good and solid. The goggle 2 reminds me of my Fatshark HD O2 as far as fitting for the face. But I needed a new face foam for them as well. Got a big head,,,lol. Thanks for that. Very happy to have paid a bit more for the goggle 2.
Hard hats have a similar system for tightening and they seem to last a long time.
do you have to re-bind when going from original air unit use to 03 air unit use? like was the case when the V2 goggle came out?
So if I set my G2 to 90% , can you say it’s the same? Maybe they just hard coded it? Or do the integra offer something more with actual optics?
Great detail. I had the DJI FPV drone for about a month but the goggles FPV 2 was just so uncomfortable that it all went back. I am keen for the new Avata with the new goggles but a bit worried that the goggles is still shaped like the old one. Do you know if there was a major change in face shaping?
How do you get a video output with these goggles? I use DJI AU or 03 air units.
USB c -> smart controller or RC pro?
I searched the web but couldn't get a clear answer...
If DJI actually get around to adding support for the mini 3 to these I'd probably upgrade to them, can't see the point in upgrading from my V1's at this stage though
They listened to you and have released that support now.
@@noisyminer LOL there's no way in hell DJI gives a shit about what I think 🤣. But yes I saw they've FINALLY added support (should have happened YEARS ago but anyway..). I'll be waiting for the mini 4 that's apparently close to release them I'll be upgrading!
easy screen spot/burn when diretcly exposed to the sun light as Goggles V2?
This seems like the answer to flying without a bunch of cords dangling from your head
Is there any way to modify the Goggles 2 Integra to accept external antennas? Couldn't you just solder something on?
Just one question...
Do you have to plug the Goggles 2 into your smart phone before taking off.. If your flying only in the UK.
Thank you.
Thank you for good job. Could you tell me is there Yagi antennas or something other ways to extend work distance of DJI Integra Googles or it is only for DJI Googles 2 ?
great review! Thank you for that! Is it possible to take off the headstrap and exchange it with a 3rd party one somehow? (maybe with custom made parts?) If so, what does the power input connector on the goggles side looks like?
At the moment it looks fixed but we will need to see
can you use the foam from goggles Integra on goggles 2? have the same holes and clips?
Great review! Would the g2 battery work with usb to usb cable? seems like a nice backup plan...
Can you plug in the USB C Goggles 2 battery pack, using a USB C to USB C cable and use it as a power supply?
Why couldn’t they have just made the GPS/battery pack as an add-on to the existing goggles? Do you think there’s any chance they will offer this in the future so that existing goggles to owners can have the convenience of not flying with a phone connected?
So you can still adjust the focus for each eye with the integras ?but can it adjust as much ?
hello friend, nice your video, ask me a question: I put the Han file to release the FCC the maximum I can get in it is 30mbs at 300m the signal is already very bad, can you help??
OUCH I had it all wrong! I was able to try on both of these at the mall recently when I inquired about ordering the Mini 4 Pro. The salesman flew the Avata around the store while I viewed the flights through each goggles set. I liked the Goggles 2 better specifically because of the individual diopter adjustments, so they were perfectly clear. To a lesser extent I liked them because of the wider field of view. In fact, I thought the Integra was the older model since it lacked diopter adjustment. Also, the Thai salesman didn't mention that Integra includes a set of corrective lenses. In my case Integra wasn't quite clear. Gotta admit it's puzzling that DJI can apparently make Integra, including a box of corrective lenses, cheaper than Goggles 2. Go figure. I'll go with Goggles 2 now that the latest Mini 4 Pro update, thankfully, allows using either set.
Merry Christmas & just subscribed!😁
Does the dji integra for over glasses like dji goggles v2?
Doing the math: With my V2 goggles and their 54 degree FOV, it's soooo much FOV that I, and most I've heard, dial back the FOV. In the menu we can adjust the image size by 10 degree increments. I personally use 80% and think that's much better because the 54 degree FOV is too immersive and it looks like you're trying to take in an IMAX like FOV from a goggle...Kinda. lol So, if we do the math and take that 54 degree FOV and multiply it by 80% we get 43.2 FOV. Gee, that's oftly similar to the 44 degree FOV of the Integra goggles. Hmm, sounds like what I'm already used to with my V2 goggles. It would appear to be just perfect for me, and maybe a lot of folks! Now if we could just rid ourselves of the MY PILLOW/BATTERY CLUSTER FUC% ON THE BACK! LOL 🥴
Maybe some really smart, genius type guy, can figure out how to completely remove that My Pillow CF and let us use the lipo in the pocket technique many of us have been used to for several years! Who at DJI thought this pillow deal was a good idea?! More weight on my head....great! 🤷♂🤦♂
You must have a really tiny head
I sent it back the Integra . I like the optics 44 ( is perfect)... but the image is bent( top and bottom) not so much in goggles 2 . Mach light 220-240g on Integra without battery. The deal break is built in battery. You cannot modify it, the strap cannot be replaced ( the cable and connector are very fragile... I know what I'm talking about). That's the reason I sent it back. I wish to be the same as goggles 2 regards the battery. I'm very sad. 😢
Are these new headsets better then the old white ones 5 years a go? I am looking to get back into fpv with the avatar
I received the Integra goggles a few days ago.
My issue is when the aspect ratio is 4:3 it seems the screen is quite far away. Thoughts?
So these will work with the Vistas and old dji air units
I didn’t know I could change the size of the screen on the goggles 2. How is that done?
Will it work with dji mini 3 pro and dji goggles integra and older dji fpv motion controller instead of dji mini 3 pro and dji goggles integra and dji rc motion2 combination?
Bro Does Integra supported with DJI FPV ?
Will these new goggles be compatible with the fpv and controller 2 ?
The Oculus quest 2 has a really similar strap tightening wheel and the plastic teeth did strip after 2 months of frequent use.
Every hardhat I've worn in the past 20yrs has this mechanism. Have not seen a single failure.
@@dr0n3droid i feel like they use better plastics on hardhats. More like the tool plastic than the consumer electronics plastic
I wonder if the displays are smaller, it's some effect of the optical design, or they set the scaling to 90% in firmware, or some combination. I wonder if it's still giving you 1920x1080 pixels despite the smaller FOV as that would make them a superior pixels per degree then the Goggles 2.
I also wondered this tbh.
Yes, the ratcheting mechanism is the weak point. It is made in PRC after all. Bicycle helmets have similar mechanism which is prone to failures.
What about people of 50 with presbyopia?... I'm a little bit worried with focusing issues. May be you can enlighten us?
Thanks for your video... Really detailed and well structured.
