    What are the exercises to do to release the high hip and the low hip. The medius and the minimus? I have been suffering from terrible sciatica for over a month now and my walk start out OK and then the pain becomes almost unbearable. Thanks so much for your response.

      Hey there. I moved my channel to my business and it deleted all my comments from over the years. So I want to make sure you got an answer. There's a video on a practice for right hip high and one for left hip high. I'll link in the next replied.

    • @CatMatlock
      @CatMatlock  Рік тому +2

      Is it in the calf or outer shin? Calf pain can come from glute min, hamstrings, and soleus. I've made videos for all of those. Shin pain can come from glute min (often!) and from the peroneal muscles. Let me know if you need more guidance but you can search my channel for all of those videos

      Hi Ngozi. Please tell me where the pain is. Is it on the outside of your thigh? Buttocks? Back of the thigh? All of those? Do you have one hip that's higher than the other when you are standing? There is no one simple answer. But if you tell me where you feel it, I might be able to guide you from here.

      @@ngozichukwurah7169 It sounds to me like. a combination of psoas, iliacus, and quadratus lumborum. I would try releasing those three. And I'll do a video in a week or two about this. In the meantime, try these videos:

    Anything for bilateral sciatica?

    • @CatMatlock
      @CatMatlock  7 місяців тому

      Hmmm... that's very unusual to have it on both sides, which makes me think it's one of two things: 1- either your pelvis is tucked under so much that both sides of the sciatic nerve are being pinched due to excessive tucking. You'd need to release belly, hamstrings, and glute max first before doing anything else. 2- it's not true sciatica but bilateral trigger points in the glute min muscles, which is often related to too much crossing of the legs and tension in the inner thighs. Release adductors of the inner thighs first, then the outer hips, glute min.

    I have incredibly painful sciatica. I have a prolapsed disc that has been calcified. A surgeon could not cut it away as it is as hard as bone. I have tried all therapies under the sun and am losing the will to keep going. Can you offer any advice? Will the exercises in this video work for me?

    • @CatMatlock
      @CatMatlock  Рік тому

      Hi Zak. This specific video is probably not what you need to get better, but since I don't know your pain symptoms (sciatica has many faces!) I cannot be sure how to guide you. I want you to hear this, something I speak about in my book (a.co/d/hS3cFor) that disc issues do not necessarily need to cause pain. And once you start understanding that and believing that, your pain will lessen. And then you can start dealing with the other causes of your pain. I'm happy for you to share with me some of what you're experiencing and I can let you know if what I do can help you in a significant way, because it WILL help for sure. I'm just not certain I can help you to be pain free. But I feel hope for you.

    • @zakworth6295
      @zakworth6295 Рік тому

      Thank you so much for your speedy reply. I unfortunately left the issue with the disc for about 20 years. The surgeon couldn't operate on it. However, it is bulging but solid. My right hip at the front constantly feels tight, the disc issue is lower back. I have pain radiating constantly down my right leg when walking, it carries into the outside of my calf. At times my right leg is about 5 mm shorter that my left, any advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way your videos are the first ones I have come across that actually make sense and don't just say to stretch the piriformis 👍👍

    • @CatMatlock
      @CatMatlock  Рік тому +1

      Hi Zak @@zakworth6295 The best place to begin is leveling the pelvis, getting that right hip up a little and the left hip down a little. Here's a video for left hip high practice: ua-cam.com/video/YIpadOSiFoo/v-deo.htmlsi=gcNBGHfiE0-mTerh. This will start that process. However, it does not address rolling the right glute min and med, and I believe glute min is causing your pain when you walk. So do that video first, then do this one: ua-cam.com/video/it3NT7g9cp0/v-deo.htmlsi=YWSfZyLdY_6KRwuB. Let me know how that goes!
