This inspired me to buy 2 chickens and a cow and put them on my third floor patio balcony.
And here's me, struggling to milk this almond...
Yes we are all lazy, we only work 40 plus hours a week for money? Not lazy we just have convenience.

At the time when their ancestors came to the American continent, the USA did not exist yet, so they call others English because they ruled then, or they were descendants of Anglo-Saxon colonists who later won independence from England and founded the USA. While the Amish are culturally of continental Germanic origin.

It's a perfectly valid and interesting question which deserves a complex answer: We were basically conditioned for decades into believing that to have things done for us, was not only nice, but good for us. We had this done because it profited the people selling us this stuff. In return, we enjoyed the convenience but it came at a giant cost - How our environment, animals, and supermarket workers are treated today.

They are calling the Americans English because they are Germans historically speaking. They aren't talking about people from England, I know it's wrong terminology but it's how they say it, hey, what can we do about it, they talk different.
It's specialisation. The most valuable curerncy anyone has is time. Yes you could get your own chickens to get your own eggs, have a cow to get your own milk, grow and cut your own vegetables, but how much time are you gonna be spending (read: wasting) on that? Instead we've decided to delegate specific jobs of production to specific people, who can do it professionally, and generally at a higher level of quality than the average person would be able to do, which in turn frees up time for us to spend on more valuable things to us, whether it be times of leisure or work.
Yep, we don't want to pay that much for eggs either... That's why Aldi exists.

I remember visiting one of their communities in Pennsylvania during a school trip. It was a delight to walk through one of their well crafted wooden stores and smell the wift of pastries and bread right as i stepped off the bus. I also remember a young boy hanging out the side of the road. For a Amish he was incredibly well dressed with no facial hair and wore a black straw hat with coveralls just like abraham lincoln would.
It's so intersting to see their point of view in the supermarket. For us all this is quite normal I never thought that they'd complain about the prices or that they would be astonished that we buy food thats ready to be eaten. Very interesting!
But, then, again you have to realize there Amish and, they think people in the English world are lazy. But, you also have to look at it this way a huge majority of the Amish have lived and worked on a farm from the time they were born, they don’t realize people that are English as they like to call us that not everyone lives on a farm and that a lot of us hold jobs and, they don’t have the time on there hands to do all these things that people in the Amish world can take the time to do at there leisure. They don’t actually have little knowledge of how things out in the world actually works.

68. By your Lord, We will round them up, and the devils, then We will bring them around Hell, on their knees.
69. Then, out of every sect, We will snatch those most defiant to the Most Merciful.
70. We are fully aware of those most deserving to scorch in it.
71. There is not one of you but will go down to it. This has been an unavoidable decree of your Lord.
72. Then We will rescue those who were devout, and leave the wrongdoers in it, on their knees.
73. When Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, “Which of the two parties is better in position, and superior in influence?”
74. How many a generation have We destroyed before them, who surpassed them in riches and splendor?
75. Say, “Whoever is in error, the Most Merciful will lead him on.” Until, when they see what they were promised-either the punishment, or the Hour. Then they will know who was in worse position and weaker in forces.
76. God increases in guidance those who accept guidance. And the things that endure-the righteous deeds-have the best reward with your Lord, and the best outcome.

Well the Amish community is low-hey kind of like a cult, you aren’t allowed to talk to anyone outside of the community until 18 where you get to go “wild” and then see if you want to return to the Amish or leave and if you leave, you have to be shunned by your entire family and the rest of the community.

These kids are forced in this lifestyle from the moment they are born and are only happy or think they are happy because they have never experienced anything outside of their community and the things they allow. And it is mostly the factor that they know they will be disowned by their community and their parents if they try something new which would be normal for other people meaning they don't really have much of a choice.

The kids weren’t forced into it, they were born into it, and they are indeed happy, just as people in other isolated parts of the world are happy. Mainstream is where the clinically depressed, suicidal, and miserable people are. Every family culture must be respected and nurtured. The fact that some want to leave what they were born into doesn’t make the lifestyle wrong or bad, it simply doesn’t fit them. It happens in every culture. In my area we have an Amish supermarket that buys from all the big name brand warehouses in the area. They will buy the stuff they can’t sell. Damaged box, stuff that isn’t selling fast enough, etc. they also sell meat and cheese from their farms. I love going there. It’s so nice you can get a whole cart full of stuff for 100-200 dollars.

Cows require land and feed and labor intensive care, how the hell do you expect people to even have enough money to care for a cow? Not everyone can just dish out the money and space for a full grown bovine animal.

@@racheljones1634 Yeah... Much of the Amish are also of German descent too, some communities speak a version of it still. There was once a German VS English VS Irish vibe going on in a big way,100 to 200 years ago.

You have to buy feed for them,clean the cages,built a pen... it costs money to own them & time to take care of them.
@@MA-fg5hz That's exactly what we do here on our farm and yeah it's a ton of work raising chickens and quail. It's a full time job within itself.

It would be funny though, to drive down a street and see a cul-de-sac where one house has chickens, one has goats, one has cows, and the neighbor at the entrance that everybody hates has foxes.

They should have a show called English to Aumish, where they have a bunch of English teens, live and work with Aumish familys and at the end can decide if they want to stay in the Aumish community or return to the outside world.
This would be a really interesting show.

@@Kristianson1 Some teens need structure, discipline and work ethic, maybe they grew up alone feeling unloved and un- carried for. Instead of kids feeling lost they can be apart of a family.

You aren't very familiar with this kind of thing. Here is Lancaster Pennsylvania area Amish are everywhere. Anyone who's not Amish is considered English. If you learned alittle bit about their history and culture it would help you to understand more.

Actually, there's a great deal of waste in our grocery stores. All of that packaging goes into landfills. I think we should go back to the old way and get rid of most of that packaging.

As a technolgoy person, I just don't understand how some people reject modern advances. The only thing that is constant is change! Embrace it.
But, that’s the thing with the Amish, for them it’s a way of life and, they have very little knowledge of how the world actually operates. They live a life conformed to there religion.
One thing they're lucky to be without is addicting social media like Facebook, Instagram, etc. Some days "when I'm wishing I'd gotten more sleep before work) I wish I'd never started with that mess.

One of the kids in my school, his mom was Amish but then she got pregnant and she lost her virginity so they told her to leave and so her parents went with her to support her Amish to English journey and they still wear traditional clothes but they just have a different lifestyle now

I see amish in big box stores all the time. Home depot, Walmart, chain grocery stores, name a thing.

I know in another episode Maureen said she is leaving the Amish community for Danny and I think this episode shows the difference between Maureen and Rosanna, I feel as thought Maureen still has a traditional mindset and is only doing it for Daniel and to please him considering he has left the community whilst Rosanna i feel is doing it for herself and to become more open and learn more about the world and different ways of life and where people come from and how different their lives are, another episode Maureen was speaking about how the english were making fun of them when I believe they were just curious about the different lifestyle, kind of as if Maureen feels like she has to for the sake of love but Rosanna genuinely wants to by her own choice and to see what’s out there in the world and experience new possibilities and opportunities she ma not have had before
This brings back memories. I grew up similar as a Mennonite. I remember experiencing 'factory' foods. Always so perfect.
