    According to IS 456:2000 (page no. 37)
    Depth ratios for spans up to 10m :-
    Cantilever - 7 ( means span/7)
    Simply supported - 20
    Continuous - 26
    Eg:-Assume beam span is 6m in simply supported depth is
    6/20=0.3m
    Beam depth =0.3m

    Sir as per Is 456 2000 effctive depth of beam will be the effective length of beam divided by 20 for simply supported nd for continous divided by 26... Then how can we divide by 16.. ? Plz answer it

      The Ratio of Span to the Effective depth for Continuous should not be more than 26 and similar for Simply supp. not mor than 20

    Kya ham intermediate beam ke liye apply karenge ya continuous beam ke liye bhi agar continuous ke liye karenge to kisi span ka length agar jaida ho jayega to beam ka dimensions kisi me jaida kisi kam ho jeyega.

    I love Structural Engineering! At work site, spacing of stirrups in beam formula
    As per 1.5 of IS 456, the maximum spacing of the stirrups = 0.75 d = 0.75 (450) = 337.5 mm = 300 mm (say). d is thr effective depth of besm.So, we select 10 mm, 2 legged stirrups @ 150 mm.I c/c..One This fig is not rigid In beam both side of end span L/4 spacing reduced and beyond L/4 the spacing increased depending upon Shear force!Kindly correct if I am wrong??🙏

      @@civilsitevisit thank you....now, how to calculate the column size as per the above thumb rule?? N is plinth beam size= slabe beam size?? N slabe size excluding which will be extra 4 to 5inch??. Also i am from assam n entire northeast comes under zone 5 i think which is now consider as zone 4 as zone 1 n 2 are combined so zone 5 became zone 4, if i am not wrong.
      Also this is for my personnel use. N the Rcc construction in our entire district is worst.

      I found Estimating costing byEr B.N.Dutta or Rangwall to be studied.I have seen as good book. And relevant other subject if u want to master in Quantity Survey.
