    I like how you step through the tutorial. Unlike other styles which assume we know what they are talking about. I actually come away feeling like i have learnt something. God bless you.

    Thank you, man. In just 5 minutes you reminded me of this important golden nugget: remove the unwanted FIRST. Clean it up before presenting it. You're right, we see almost all of the time that we all go on and just start arbitrarily boosting stuff we think we need to boost but then that brings in things we don't want so it turns into a dog chasing its tail of fixing one problem and creating new ones. But if you cut out what you don't like first, you're clearing the way and giving yourself headroom to go in and showcase what's already good and there and, if you need to boost from there, it doesn't have to be as drastic. Thanks again!

    Now wait just a minute here. You've seen some guys use, SM-57's on kick drum? Yes! There's nothing wrong with that. You've seen some use, Radio Shaft microphones? With 1/4 inch to XLR converters? Hell no! Snip off those 1/4 inch connectors. You'll frequently find, 3 wires. Red, white and copper ground. Solder on a, XLR connector. And you are good to go with Radio Shaft microphones from the early mid 1980s. I guarantee it. I use them. I have, eight of them from 1984. They cost $39 each. They require a AA battery each. The last months with the battery on all the time. I change them every 4 months. Whether they need it or not. They sound great! You'll see. Anything that works is good. You can use. It'll sound fine. Will will will will will sound just fine. As even some of the cheapest ones. Have balanced output. When you cut off the stupid connector. And put the XLR on. You'll see. Just make sure you have a fresh AA battery in it.
    Oh yeah and he is cringing now over this. But hey. I put Yolanda Adams, on the map. Back in 1995. So? I can't be all wrong.
    And I'm white and stupid and Jewish. Than came from Motown. The Studios in Detroit. When I was a kid growing up. So?
    We know how to do things from Detroit. Where did you come from? We figure it out to make it go. Anyway we have to.

      I really appreciate your insights and the creativity you bring to audio engineering! It’s clear you've got a wealth of experience, and your approach to making things work is impressive, especially with those Radio Shack mics. Your story about putting Yolanda Adams on the map back in '95 is incredible-definitely a testament to your skills!
      I admire your ingenuity, and I’m sure there’s a lot my audience can learn from you. However, some of them might not be as technically skilled or experienced, so I try to keep things a bit more straightforward for their sake. That being said, your advice is gold, and I’ll definitely be thinking about how I can share your tips with those who are ready to dive deeper into the technical side.
      Thanks for the knowledge drop, and keep being awesome!

Always trying to get better with our sound system at church and yes it's not always about getting the best mic or mixer, it's more about getting the best of what you have. Appreciate it again brother, learned something new and will definitely put it to work this weekend. Take care! 🙏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽

    “No plugins needed” is the modern day equivalent of using three plugins!
    I saw him insert a gate plugin, a compressor plugin and an EQ plugin!!!
    Back in the analog days we use to have to plug in a compressor and no one gave us flak for using a plugin! In fact we calibrated when someone was able to buy physical compressor plugins for live sound.

    • @MeekPro
      @MeekPro  2 місяці тому +5

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts! The term "plugins" in modern audio production typically refers to software used within Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) or platforms like SoundGrid SuperRack, which require an external computer or server to run. These are different from the built-in processors like EQs, compressors, and gates found on consoles, such as the X32, which are part of the hardware.
      The point I was making in the video is that you don't always need external software plugins or additional systems to achieve a good mix, especially in live sound scenarios. The built-in tools available on most modern consoles, like EQs and compressors, can often get the job done effectively. It's about using the tools you have at your disposal without relying on extra gear or software unless absolutely necessary.
      Back in the day, as you mentioned, we used outboard gear, which was a physical equivalent to today's plugins. However, the analogy doesn't fully extend to current digital environments, where "no plugins needed" specifically refers to not requiring external software processing.
      Appreciate the dialogue!

      @@MeekProIf you had a console like a Merlin or Cinemax, the compressor and gate are built right into the console and the EQ is standard and in a switchable location (pre or post dynamics, or even split if you are so inclined) so you could have no extra outboard - just a couple of button presses to enable the dynamics module and routing.
