Last year I got 1 rack and 3 grow lights…plus a neighbor gave me a 3rack grow light system, I loved it and am looking forward to February! And your videos!
It sounds like you have a wonderful set up for starting plants indoors. I'm really looking forward to sharing my seed starting adventures this coming winter. 😊🌻
Nice video. I’ve got to get this done this Winter. Looking forward to your upcoming videos. I have been saving milk jugs and have all my co workers bringing theirs. I have about 50 jugs so far. Can’t wait to start winter sowing all the seeds I saved. Will probably be looking for homes for all the plants…but like you said…It’s good for my soul! Have a great weekend Vita.
Wow very nice set up, in my grow room I purchased one rack 72 inches wide 5 shelves high. Was a monster to assemble. And have a 6 ft foldable table under a window. So far just had 2 minor frosts. Wednesday night OMG we had the first major snow about 8in nest two days of rain. My petunias is still growing set of black velvet and tiny red ones. Small tray of red poppies. Hope you have a good thanks giving.
Thank you! It sounds like you have a very nice grow light setup as well. It'll give us something to really look forward to this winter. Oh wow! You got a ton of snow and rain. We haven't had any snow (yet) but finally some rain which was desperately needed. We have more rain coming in a few days. After that, the very cold weather arrives. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. 🦃😊
Thank you so so much for this video. I've been expanding my indoor plant setup and it's so expensive. This is exactly what I was looking for! I'm in Massachusetts too so not so far away! Thank you for making this video and sharing it
Thank you for sharing this. The info is very useful. I have one makeshift shelf, which I now know needs a second shop light. I wish I could have more. I also love your low key style. I'm looking for knowledge, not entertainment. 😊
Ah New Hampshire ! Where it’s zero degrees 3 days before summer ends. Here it’s summer all year round. Coincidentally I was looking at my garage shelving for a greenhouse build due to wet season rains daily from Oct to March.
Seriously! We really do have such short growing seasons here in New Hampshire. The key is making the most of it. 😊 Oh wow! You definitely seem to get a lot of rain where you are. Your greenhouse build sounds very fun, though. Happy gardening, friend! 🌸
Thanks for being so precise in sharing behind the scenes. A beautiful setup for your requirements. Do you leave the lights on all day in the growing season, and what happens next when the seedlings develop😁
Thank you. 😊 During the growing season, the lights come on at 5 AM and go off at 9 PM, so I have them on for about 16 hours. As the seedlings develop, they receive the same amount of light, but the lights raise or go up as the seedlings get taller. I'll be sure to show this entire process as the growing season goes on. 🌱🌻
Thank you for this! I'm setting up one shelf with lights this winter and I like how you did yours. The link to the lights took me to the Sam's home page. Which ones are you using?
You're so welcome! That's great that you're setting up a grow space to start some seeds. The LED shop lights are by Hyper Tough and I got them from Walmart. They no longer sell the exact same ones that I am using, but they do have similar ones on their website. I recently bought the ones from Sam's Club and really like those as well. 😊🌹
What seeds do you have started? I'm growing pansies and viola to put in my greenhouse. In my unheated greenhouse I have petunias and zinnias still blooming. Also calendula and sweet alyssum still blooming.
So far, I don't have any seeds started. This video was filmed last year but I edited and re-released it as I felt it was relevant for fellow gardeners. 🌸 Soon I'll be starting some lettuce for indoor growing as well as cat grass for my cats. I usually start geranium / pelargonium seeds in December and wax / tuberous begonias in January. I'll definitely film anything I will be starting from seed. 😊 That's wonderful that you still have plants blooming in your unheated greenhouse! 💞
Love your set up. I am just getting started. This will be my first year starting seeds indoors. I have watched several videos of people having heating mats. Do you have them? Are they necessary?
Thank you! 😊 I bought my first set of heat mats a year ago. I never used the before that and was still able to get seeds to germinate just fine. Heat mats are great for speeding up germination of certain plants (such as peppers for example), but they are definitely not a requirement for starting seeds indoors. The room where I start my seeds in is fairly warm (mid 60 to mid 70 F during the winter months), but if you are starting seeds in a much colder room, such as an unfinished basement, then investing in a heat mat may be worth it. 🌸
Another great video- thank you! I have found it very difficult to figure out what LED lights to buy, how many I need to buy and the distance from the plants that they need to be. In one of your responses to a comment here you mentioned that you grow cat grass. What kind of container do you put it in? My cat is always knocking the pot over.
Thanks so much! I like to keep my LED shop lights just barely above my seedlings (not touching) in order to create short, stalky plants versus long, leggy plants that are reaching for the light. My cats just love cat grass! I like to choose short, wide pots (about 8-12 inches in diameter and 4-6 inches in depth) so that the pots don't get tippy and fall over. I usually sow 3 pots with cat grass (oats) and alternate between pots so that the cats don't destroy the grass (lol). I also only give the grass for short increments so that the grass can recover a little. Here's an old video that I made on cat grass. Enjoy! 😊🐈🐈⬛ ua-cam.com/video/P-7SCv5CXhQ/v-deo.html
You're very welcome. 💗 It's so nice having plants to grow indoors during the winter months. It keeps my hands still in the dirt while it's freezing cold outside. 😊🌱
My wife is officially jealous of your setup.
Lol. The holiday season is officially around the corner. Just saying... it would make a great present... 😂💗🌸

New house, new garden, a thousand miles from permanent winter to monsoon madness.
Oh wow! You must be loving the idea of designing your new garden space. What an exciting time for you! 😊🌻

Thank you for sharing your grow system, I have something similar but much smaller scale. Tips on Power cord organization was very helpful. 🪴

I need to get rid of some furniture to get more grow racks. 😆
Lol. I say just do it! 😂
