I agree with her wholeheartedly....I discovered eGFR was lowering accidently. None of my doctors paid attention to the tests they ordered but I read it and started taking action. My internist said "no worry about it you don't have CKD" so I went to a cardiologist who cleared me of heart and vasculary issue but when I went to the Nephrologist she only told me to watch my salt and drop 10 lbs. all of these doctors failed me. I had to research everything about kidneys, molecular nutrition, kidney friendly foods, and more myself. I felt the doctors were failing me they only pay attention once you're ready for dialysis, not prevention last week I searched for a support group. I think public awareness, education and support is key.
My constant goal is persuading those I care about to adopt the attitude you have arrived at and research everything themselves. Doctors are just people, with many pressures, priorities and motivations to juggle. Our health, knowing our own body’s needs and current status, is OUR JOB, not our doctors’ jobs. They ASSIST us in gathering information, but the INFORMED choices are OURS to make; right?
Same not one mentioned nutrition and became touchy at the thought. One only said avoid dandelion for kidney. But everything I read says it's good for it.
Dr. Sean is so on point and so compassionate in his approach...I know someone challenged with this dis-ease and we are using herbs 🌿 and a healthy lifestyle...thank you Dr. Sean
Brilliant, I was a bodybuilder, taking massive amounts of protein, creatine etc, my kidneys have suffered, I now eat a plant based diet, with low protein, I am better, but not cured, but I feel much better, but have to keep on top of what I eat !

I was diagnosed 3 months ago with CKD. I’m not diabetic, do not have high blood pressure and am not over weight and no Dr seems to be interested in HOW I got here! Told me to come back in 3 mos for follow up labs!!! I am very discouraged with the lack of concern by Drs.
Most likely is due to a higher animals proteins consumption or the use of (NSAID). Try to go on a whole food vegan diet and get your blood work checked after one month you will be surprised. 🙏
@@lightningbug276 I eat all things in moderation, but it's a good protein source. Made with chickpeas. If you have protein restrictions consult your doctor. Enjoy

In addition to protein effects on acid balance, there is a second-order effect. Proteins dilate the upstream afferent arterioles and so increase the intraglomerular pressure. Which kinds of proteins and amino acids have the greatest effect? Another great interview so thanks.
Given the hypothesis that you are trying to eliminate nitrogenous wastes and thus causing afferent vasodilation, plant proteins would be the preferred option over animal proteins. This may be the study you are referring to. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7460905/ (here is a beautiful figure from the study: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/core/lw/2.0/html/tileshop_pmc/tileshop_pmc_inline.html?title=Click%20on%20image%20to%20zoom&p=PMC3&id=7460905_ASN.2020010028f1.jpg
Yes, but it and its citations do not hint at which proteins, amino acids and peptides have the greatest effect. Already on 90% WPFD. Thanks.@@SELFPrinciple
Dr Hashmi, I agree with you about juicing. I love your podcasts and the concept of "what do you eat a food with?" However, there is a difference between juicing (where the fiber is not consumed) and "blenderizing" dark green leafy vegetables in a 75% vegetables and 25% low-fructose fruits used as a sweetener (such as blueberries). Nutritional research shows that a larger quantity of vegetable nutrients and fiber can be consumed this way. Dr. Brooke Goldner recommends this 75% vegetable and 25% selected fruits combined with a handful of ground flax seeds (which Nutritional research shows has 1:1 omega 3 to omega 6 ratio). Omega3 helps the body recover from injury. On top of this, however, we should still CHEW dark green leafy vegetables, as Dr Caldwell Esselstyn's recommended. Besides these two, drink plenty of water. I think combining the clinical exp🎉erience of these three physicians makes sense and can promote kidney health.
I believe he said to get the water mostly from food. I have heard this before. Makes sense not to juice and omit all the fiber. I agree blending may be key at times.
Everything we talk about in this interview applies to preventing and reducing the risk of progression. Here is the playlist discussing treatment options for those with kidney disease. ua-cam.com/play/PLnpHCIEsSTnf4auehNumUClYLUc2IEVTU.html
i hope i get a response to my concern. I am 39 years old, weighing 59 kg. Recently, results of my lab are: BUN of 50 mg/dl, Crea of 1.016, No traces of proteins in urine, no signs of body swelling, 4 Hba1c, BP is less than 110/80 mmhg. A physician i consulted said i had stage 1 kidney disease. th thought of it is depressing, and it feels like im gonna die soon and it is adding so much stress . by the way, this may help--I fast 12-15hrs a day, i eat mostly meat, i eat so little of carb (most of the time i dont eat carbs). I have insomia for wuite a long time now.
Here in canada, nephrologist dont give you advise in or dont do any effort to reverse your sick kidneys. Instead, they just wait until your kidneys get worst then they advise you to go for dialysis and thats it.
Five minutes ago I watched a gentleman who was put on dialysis as a stage 5 be taken off dialysis and be put on hold for a kidney transplant basically down to eating carnivore using grass fed animals, and "some" locally healthy sourced vegetables. Due to an unconnected illness I have not been in a position to go full on carnivore, but I have seen an improvement from the lower end of stage 3 to much closer to stage 2. What is mostly the issue is the diabolical way our food is manufactured these days.
I am new to your station. I am a veterinarian with nutrition background. I am interested to find out about your early vegan health talks to your carnivore approach now. I am not anti either being raised in a farm environment we pretty much ate from the earth and home raised animals. I was about 5 when I remember processed foods being introduced to processed foods. I am very interested to dig deeper.
Doctors Don't Tell You How To Help Your Kidney!!! I had to do all my own research in diet. I had a kidney removed in 2014 cancer. Now functioning at 24%, went down to 8% in May and I'm working my way back to better health at 70 years.

Probably good as long as you choose good ingredients. Not too much fruit or fructose. I thought the same thing. It could totally be done healthy or sometimes as a treat. I would like banana green leaf, celery, berry yum.
