You might be right as I seem to recall a very similar being associated with The Band of Brothers.
The guy holding the flag id Flanagan. They are at Marmion near Ravenoville.
The guy with the Nazi flag is Spiers.

What kind of camera they use to record this?
A 16mm, spring driven (used a wind-up spring as its motor), camera with three lenses on the front of the housing that rotated as needed by the photographer. The cameras could hold a 100ft roll of film, but could not record sound. For sound recording a tape recorder was needed. The film used was most often a black and white type with an ASA of 400. ASA is a measure of a photographic film's sensitivity to light.
For the scenes you see in this video they used a Bell & Howell 35mm Eyemo camera. It was the standard camera for cinematography in the US Army during WWII:
