They really should have called the movie Medievil Dead.
weird thing is when it was released on video here in the UK it was called Army of Darkness: The Medievil Dead
+jumpyg1258 yea or evil dead: army of darkness

I call it Evil Dead 3: Attack of The Props.
This movie needs an ultimate cut edition. There's some really great scenes here that could have improved the theatrical cut.
Exactly, but Hollywood was into 85 minute runtime in general at this time. VHS restrictions, are a big factor.
I think the extended cut is called the screwhead edition
@@art_vandelay7845 No, that’s just a special edition Blu-ray. It’s theatrical. I highly suggest picking up the scream factory 4k even if you only have a Blu-ray player.. it has:
1. Theatrical cut 4k
2. Theatrical cut Blu-ray
3.Directors cut Blu-ray
4. International cut Blu-ray.
And all of the Blu-ray Discs are of a new 4k scan.
@@CharlieD.706 i love the new set. It's amazing for fans.
There's plenty of fan-edits available that add all the deleted scenes back into the director's cut.
I've always loved how Bruce's hair sporadically changed lengths throughout the film
The scene where evil ash was at the door and the door closes was so badass and creepy. They shoulda kept it.
I guess I'm finding out just now that scene wasn't part of the official cut. I taped this many years ago off the Sci-Fi Channel (back when it was called that) and that scene was included.
Obviously, like most films that air on network television, it was likely added due to run time.
the fan made Primitive Screwhead Edition adds that scene back in along with a number of other deleted scenes. No idea where to find it though.
And in the movie it doesnt make sense why Ash runs towards the mirror
No I saw this on extended version or if it was call alternate version
@@Jose-se9pu I always thought that he was thinking about what happened in the cabin when he looked in the mirror so he thought it was a trick again.

that opening had much more lovecraftian flair
It feels a lot more in tone with the previous two movies.
Ironically, the TV cut (not including the censorship) is by far the best out there.
The scene where Ash leaves the windmill to check on his horse should NEVER be absent from any version. It's shot wonderfully, the music is fantastic, and it helps the following scene with the mini Ashes make more sense.
All these things were on the Japanese “Captain Supermarket” VHS tape in the 90s. Blew me away.
The Japanese got it right. His name is Ash. Housewares...
Shop smart shop S-Mart
Windmill scene was really nice and shouldn't be deleted :)
Yeah I thought he lost his horse forever in the final cut but then miraclously reappears..
There so man different cuts of this movie
At one point when they were showing this on TNT, maybe the late 90s, was the first time I noticed that they actually showed the fight with Arthur (why wouldn't you?) and the scene with the horse (which made way more sense). The only one you never saw on tv was when he recruits Henry. It never made sense to me why they'd include those extra scenes with those airings and never in any other version. To this day they have yet to release a perfect version of that movie.
-the opening scene
+fight with Arthur
+windmill scene
-Henry scene
= perfect
Choosing the best ending, on the other hand, is more problematic...
The movie does make a lot more sense with these scenes, I don't see why they left them out, the movie is pretty short without these scenes.
Yeah and I feel the last one shouldn't of been cut cause it shows why henry and his men showed up...you can't just have a character say we will get them to help and only have the next scene with them come charging in a reinforcements.
they needed it to speed up
+David Jr. Topete It's a short movie, regardless. If anything, the US version was TOO short and too fast and would have benefited from adding the Henry scene.
Army of Darkness is one of my all time favorite Comedy/Horror movies ever (along with House 1, 2 , 4, High Spirits and Elvira: Mistress of the Dark). It's funny that people still don't know what "Comedy/Horror" means. This film was fantastic. Visual effects were great. Bruce Campbell showed brilliant acting 4 this kind of films. Embeth Davidtz was awesome. Other characters (Wiseman, Duke the Red, Possessed Witch) were no less inpressive. My lovely Bridget Fonda deserved more screen time though
Idk y like it that much. Way better comedy/horror movies out there. This is a fun bad movie.
That opening would have been more suitable for a darker version of the movie with less comedic elements. The one that they went with was lighter in tone and fit better.
Dash Galaxy 👀 agree.
That would explain the Alternate Ending if this is left in the Director's Cut.
True, it also retconed the second movie by removing Annie
Lol at Henry The Red "Well hello Mr. Fancypants"
I love it. That would have been a classic, had it been included in the final cut.
You stoked to play as The Red in the upcoming game? He's one of the original 4 summoned to fight the deadites.
"Let's talk about something, that I don't like. I don't like being SUCKER PUNCHED!!!"
The scene with Ash meeting up with Henry the Red should have been in the movie. It totally didn't make sense to me how Henry just suddenly popped up in the end with his army.
damn Army of Darkness is an epic film, if they left these scenes in it be even better.
Fun fact- the redhead yelling that Ash is wearing the insignia of Arthur @8:36 is the third member of the Evil Dead trio, producer Rob Tapert (later married Lucy Lawless)
They really should have kept the original opening and the original windmill scene, both those scenes had dark and suspense vibes and it really made you feel like you were watching the other Evil Dead-movies. The one with Henry the Red would have explained more instead of having him and his men just showing up out of nowhere, but at the same time I can understand they cut it because of time. The one with Arthur I would have cut out too because it would have been repetitive seeing him getting punched by Ash twice (even though it was an awesome moment, don't get me wrong).
The windmill scene is included in my "Director´s Cut" edition! It also haves the original ending. But sadly, doesnt have the original opening or the scene where he confronts Arthur! Anyway, what Im trying to say is: thanks for uploading them! :)
I love how when hes putting together his chainsaw hand he uses both hands xD
He doesn't use boths hands. He's being helped by a woman named Annie Knowby.
VHS remembering.
Scarry...And you at least you laugh so much...
Master-piece !
"My name is Ash... And I am a slave." -- Best intro ever. Right to the point, like Bruce Campbell's character is. Unlike the modern remake, Evil Dead/AoD was never intended to be "taken real seriously", the intro is cool and all, but it seems like it's trying too hard to be something it's not. What makes Army of Darkness so awesome is the dark humor. I'm glad they went with the original intro, suits the actual atmosphere of the movie perfectly.
***** You are correct. The original Evil Dead is an unintentional comedy. It was supposed to be, and played like, a straight horror film. What made it funny was the cheesy acting and special effects. The black comedy didn't become a staple of the series until Evil Dead II. Therefore, it's not much of a stretch that the remake was a serious horror film.
SlasherIncorporated to be honest I still can find the original Evil Dead serious, I mean, some parts are cringe worthy because the movie didn't really age well, it's an indie horror film from the early 80's I mean, come on! of course the film won't age well, but there are some parts in the movie that still kind of creepy, and the atmosphere was really good, but I have to agree, some parts didn't age well and you can tell the special effects are cheap and fake, but I felt that gave off some of the charm of the movie.
SlasherIncorporated j
I can't believe it. at least some of these should be in the movie. they're really well done. and "Ash's" acting was really good too.
4:46
"Infinity war is the most ambitious crossover ever!"
The scene when Ash recruits Red should of been in the movie. Thought the opening scenes where awesome seem more serious.
Man why isn't the blu ray edition edited with these scenes? Minus that bogus intro, all these extra scenes make total sense and really add to the movie.
They're fine scenes, but I think the movie is stronger without them. The original windmill sequence feels kinda long, and the bit with Ash convincing Henry the Red to join him undercuts the surprise when his army shows up to save the day.
@Jill Sandwich What version is that? Bluray?
I remember watching this when I was younger, and being confused with all the alternate endings and stuff. maybe I'll rent it again some time
The "Henry the Red" scene was the only part of the "screwhead edition" I can do without.
What do you mean? Screw head edition isn’t a cut....
I like the scene with Arthur, but I can see why they cut it. It undercuts the pit scene. You haven't seen Ash do anything other than bumble around and be a jerk, then he's this super badass in the pit and the contrast and surprise is greater.
The intro is unneeded, and the other scenes would slow the pacing.
Interestingly, the scene with Henry the Red is in the quite solid comic book adaptation of the film.
That was possibly the best comic adaptation ever made. The art style was incredible, and Ash's commentary was great.
"I crapped my pants. I guess that's why they called it _the Dark Ages_."
@@miskatonic_alumnithat’s because it was by Bruce and Ivan
Oh, that windmill.....work of art, still creeps me out
oh man the intro was badass i love it so much better than the other intro kinda creepy
Ash "Dear Diary; Worst Day Ever"
I'm glad they changed the opening because it set the film up to be too serious when it wasn't really going to be that serious
When they showed this on the Sci- Fi channel in 1999 hosted by The Undertaker, there was also a funny extended scene with the little clones, along with many other extended scenes that aren't in this clip:Ash hits a log and knocks a clone into the fireplace and sarcastically says oops..lol! He stands up, hits his head on the stovepipe, punches it, and soot blasts him in the face. There's so many others too I had it recorded on VHS, and unfortunately lost it. I would kill for that version on dvd!
I remember seeing these on "The Official Bootleg Edition" lol.
AmAxel35 That's the version I always had, and it had the "slept too long" ending.
Until maybe 5 years ago I had no idea the S-Mart ending even existed haha.
@@BigDaddyZakk420 wow, crazy to think how off the different versions are.
they missed the alternate ending where he wakes up in the cave way in the future.
I love how Ash gives Annie no credit for saying the words before he goes through the portal lol
I swear to God, when I watched that movie back in '92 (in Germany) at least the part from 5:20-6:30 was in it!
The movie came out in 93 not 92
the first time I saw this movie in the 90s it had these scenes! now I cant find a version with them!
Army of Darkness is the third installment of the evil Dead movie series. Although Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 are basically the same movie (plot wise), with Evil Dead being more horror and serious, and Evil Dead 2 being horror but with a slapstick undertone. Army of Darkness picks up immediately where Evil Dead leaves off.
Just finished Army of Darkness, after buying off UA-cam. Haven't watched it in YEARSS. Gotta c this now.✌✌
He has two hands when he's building the chainsaw.
Awesome. Thanks for this! I have never seen any of these before. I agree with most, they should have definitely left in the Henry the Red scene that was great!
When he was coming up the hill I thought of holy grail lol
I don’t know why they cut this scene? 8:15 a scene that puts dread into the characters with a connected ending climax that would make Henry’s return much more impactful to help Arthur’s people much more heroic ;-;
Still nonetheless it was a good ending!
There should have been more continuity between the end of Evil Dead 2 and the beginning of Army of Darkness. It would have been more entertaining that way.
Studio changes, kill trilogy all the time.
That windmill scene tho!! *spine tremors.*
They shouldnt have cut the scene where
ash recruits red. you know?
in the movie it doesnt make any sense when those red army showed up
i was confused...
henry pendle Well, hello Mr fancy pants!
They at least have Ash say to Arthur that they'll recruit Eric the Red, but it is better with this scene. This scene and the longer Windmill one are two that add to the movie.
They needed red to show there were two kingdoms at war before ash showed up. At the end though they form an alliance to battle against the undead. If it was for reds men the battle would have been lost.
@@ThePlur427 deadlines.. Henry the Red, is a slayer like Ash. He was a key in that time period to culling the evil. Its why Ash felt compelled to save him, before he fell victim to the pit, and politics between the two countries. They should have at least had Ash stand on. High ground fire the broomstick, Henry look up, and share that look of "I need you bro."
Henry: "I got you, time and a place fam."
That was totally missing.
I love that first deleed scenes i had no ideai they had that all of the deleted ones.
all these scenes are great
3:45 He was barely hit in the head...
I laughed at the moment 😂
Thin skull
They’d add better sound effects later
Check-out ASH VS EVIL DEAD!
Ash vs. Evil Dead is an upcoming American horror comedy television series created by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell for the Starz network. It is set in the Evil Dead franchise and serves as a sequel to The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness.
The series stars Campbell reprising his role as Ash Williams from the Evil Dead films and video games. Jill Marie Jones, Ray Santiago, Dana Delorenzo and Lucy Lawless also star. The series is executive produced by Campbell, Raimi and Rob Tapert who originally produced the first film. The series is set to premiere on October 31, 2015.
Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams:
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Campbell stated that: "Ash has survivor’s guilt. You could have a heyday with his PTSD. He’s a war vet. He continues being a trash-talking know-it-all who doesn't really know anything. He’s the ultimate anti-hero. He’s kind of an idiot, but man, if I had to go to battle, I’d want to be next to that guy, because he’ll bring it if he has to." Variety quotes executive producer Sam Raimi as saying “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it”.
Jill Marie Jones as Amanda Fisher, Michigan State Trooper
Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar
An idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick - a Sancho Panza to Ash’s Don Quixote. Pablo believes in Ash’s heroism even if Ash himself doesn’t.
Dana Delorenzo as Kelly Maxwell
A moody wild child trying to outrun her past. Reluctantly dragged into the fight against Evil with Ash and Pablo, Kelly finds a different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers.
Lucy Lawless as Ruby Knowby
STAY INFORMED!
Yeah, I really enjoyed it but sadly it seems to have failed. Only lasted like one season, 6 or 8 episode I think. I'm rather gutted it seems to have been dropped. 😡😠
@@ChrisG3253032 it had 3 seasons.
Army of Darkness is the 3rd installment of the Evil Dead trilogy.
It's funny how the previous films characters are always mysteriously disappear.
xxlCortez like who? Theyredead
Much better opening.
I wish they would release a blu ray of the first 3 evil dead movies with all of the deleted scenes and call them the extended cut. I would love to watch the originals films with more longer scenes.
Thanks for posting :)
holy shit, if they kept some of these scenes, the movie would be more badass
I can see why they didn't use the original opening.
There was a weird hybrid version that was shown on the Sci-Fi channel during a short lived movie series called The Undertaker's Theater of Doom where they showed Army of Darkness. Two things I remember best: one, it showed the extended windmill scene, and Ash slipping around (and doing a handstand) after a bucket of lard is dropped on his head. Have either of those scenes ever made it into the home release on DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray?
i have the boomstick edition of this movie, it has the extended cut with the alternate ending, and deleted scenes and actor director's commentary too on the special features. this all should've been kept in the movie. ;)
which version has all of these eleted scenes in the playing movie. i have the boomstick edtion & its missing alot of scenes but i remember the HBO/TV version having all these scenes just the audio was dubbed.
I wish they would have kept the scene when he recruited Henry the Red.
This sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Never has the loss of youth been as sad.
I have the Primitive Screwhead Edition fan edit and it rocks! Highly reccommend it to add to your Evil Dead collection!
I like the original opening more
Шикарный фильм!=)
Funny enough alot of these deleted scenes were used in the television version with mixes of the best parts of both the theatrical and directors cut but sadly had some of the swear words redubbed and the naked slave girls cut out.
most of these minus the opening were in my screwhead edition dvd and bluray
him crashing into the mirror makes way more sense now. I thought that scene was a little off when I saw it.
This is way better than the real opening.
Thank's for the upload I never knew they had edited all this stuff, why did they editt it?
Awesome!
i live... again!
I understand some of the changes, but the scene with the mirror and the scene with Henry...why?
The movies opening is in my opinion better than the one that we got.
i wish they kept all these scenes. i FUCKING love these movies!!!
8:50 favorite part
I don't understand why did Sam delete one of best scenes (the one with Henry the Red) off the movie...
I watched another documentary where I think Bruce says that Universal cut that scene, not Sam.
Y'know one time on T.V. I recorded a censored version that had most of these deleted scenes. Only ones missing were the intro and Henry the Red parts.
I am waiting for a director's cut version of this movie, now.
There is one! :D
HerrMeier007
No! I must have missed it, then.
I'm not. Quite sure, but as far as I'm concerned, you can watch the directors cut on Netflix!
I'll check. Thanks.
I remember watching this in VHS back in the 90's. My dad even made a wooden shotgun so I could pretend I was Ash. Damn I was a happy child!
Ok is there a copy with these scenes added in ANYWHERE??? I've been trying to find it since I first saw it on TV with these scenes IN IT but every copy I buy but one is freaking different
Humm,a lot of good material I have not seen.Deleted Scenes not enough for me,now I gotta see what I been missing.
very nice this movie
I want this back in the movie. Except the first part
Does anyone still have the Primitive Screwhead Edition for download? Can't find it anywhere.
Personally, I think they should have kept in the extended introduction to Arthur and the extended windmill scene. With the Arthur scene, we get more of Ash being a badass and the windmill scene gives him a proper reason to smash that mirror.
Amazing 😲😲😲😲
2 ending (s mart "heil to the king...baby" and the london apocalypse...
but 3 versions around 96 min for the best version and less for others.
I like how he still has his right hand (@ 2:27) after just cutting it off.
SolarEXtract
I think that was Annie's hand.
That's awesome, your dad is a beast.
These are all great, why on earth were they deleted??
Thanks for sharing mate.
they shoulda kept in the scene with henry the red...its a shame universal had so much push
The windmill scene and the scene with Henry should be included in the final cut...
I just watched that version, its the MGM Director's Cut! Was about 15 minutes longer than the original. Anchor Bay put out a more widely available version of the director's cut too, but the video transfer is of poor quality from what I hear..
I hate the screaming Ash while barricading the windmill door. It always felt like a terrible way to introduce evil into that scene.
This way works a lot better and it keeps psychological tension
