For the sake of running specialty employees I hope there is no Ultrablast as I'm already getting nightmares of having to explain to customers that the Ultrablast is not the Ultraboost.
I got my pair of the Asics Superblast today and my initial 30-ft dash inside the house impression tells me it's a winner! FF Turbo foam redeems itself after an awesome premier in the Metaspeed Sky and a meh feeling in the Metaspeed Edge+. Can't wait to put the Superblast thru different paces!
$220 for a non-carbon-plate shoe is just nuts, imo. Is this shoe really that much better than the Novablast 3 at $140? I bought two pairs of Novablast 2 (on sale) for less money, which are great shoes that I have run a few half marathons in.
In what way? Sorry to ask you to expand? Just I have the novablast 3s and they feel amazing. What is the difference if you don't mind expanding? Be nice to hear someone's none bias opinion?
Yeah I gotta agree with the others in saying $220 is hard to justify when shoes like the Supercomp Trainer and Invincible are $180 and the Invincibles dp go on sale occasionally so you can get them for $150 or less. Sounds like a solid training shoe or race shoe for someone that’s not looking for a true race day shoe, but not worth full retail price.
Very different shoe from the other two. This is significantly lighter and more of a do-it-all shoe compared to the SC trainer and invincible 3 is just a brick…wouldn’t even compare the two. I’d happily pay extra to run in this over the invincible
Awesome review on the Superblast, that intro is next level! Keen to try the shoes when it hits the stores but the price tag will put some people off! Interesting with the break-in time for the shoes but good to hear the grip is better in the wet for these shoes. Btw, love the channel and keep up the excellent work with the reviews! 👍👏
it looks very much like a hoka shoe. Interesting evolution in the design. I take the opportunity to thank you for all the good information you share through videos! For the shoes that I bought your assessment was exactly what I found! thank you!
Will a firmer feeling shoe ever get a resounding green light? I like running in my Invincibles but I also like to run in firmer shoes as well to mix things up.
they under sold this shoe...one year later and they're still amazing now its trendy to talk about the 2 but im strongly considering rebuying the first version.
I’m really interested in these as a marathon shoe. I’m not a fast over a marathon and whenever I have tried ‘super shoes’ I haven’t gotten on with the fit and instability. So these could be a winner IF they have the leg saving properties of a super shoe. At the min I am using NB 1080 as my marathon shoe.
In all fairness, the Nike Flightposite 3 was a fantastic basketball shoe from the early 00’s. They had two “bug eyed” pods that were referred to as Lenticular!!!
still grip is the biggest issue with the novablast 3 if you are telling me i won't be ice skating on wet roads in the superblast vs the 3 then thats a huge win
Can't wait to see Asics adding the FF Turbo in other of their shoes ! Would be fantastic to have more bounce and less weight in shoe lines like the Gel-Kayano and Gel-Nimbus.
I'd love to know how much profit these firms make on their shoe lineups! That is a disgusting price tag and yes I know Asics are not the only ones taking liberties with the running community
I second your opinion. Well, Asics company seems so focused on making up for their years of deficit. Wake up and get real with genuinely differentiated versions of running shoes at a reasonable price tag.
Let me get this straight. "Kinda stiff and requires a break in period!" Adidas Boston? "Hell no! Kill it with fire! Modern shoes shouldn't require breaking in!" Asics Mystery Shoe with advance promo? "OMG! So awesome! Green Light! Buy buy buy!" You guys need to figure out some type of consistency/criteria.
The boston 11 took me around 100 miles to really come to terms with it and now at 240km feels much better than before. Something I hated st the beginning but has gone away was feeling the energy rods in my forefoot and making my feet slighly numb
@@javierparragarcia4929Didn't take me anywhere near that long for the material to break in. I also don't feel the rods at all... definitely feel my plated shoes WAY more. But shows there's likely a range of shoes required for a range of runners and bodies.
I think the best way Asics could've went return this was the $180 price tag. Being able to compete with the Nike invincibles I would go with the superblast
Wonder if Asics thought of switching up the foams... big slab of the Blast+ and the slimmer bottom as the FF Turbo... for the max cush effect. Probably going to be heavier, but more cush for the push.
Great review, thanks! Am I getting this right, that - even as an agegroup/amateur athlete - shoes like the Superblast or Novablast 4 aren`t allowed in any competition that applys to the rules of World Athletics? So we can use them in training but not in the actual race (half marathon, marathon, ironman triathlon, etc.)?
I paid nowhere near $275 for my three pairs of Alphaflys, no way I'm paying over $200 for a "regular" shoe. Even with Flubber midsoles. Just no. EDIT: I need to give a $220 shoe a break-in period?!?!🤣🤣🤣

@@Martha-fluterunner I love when shoes have painted midsoles like these, I'm just not a fan of the grey upper. Grey just doesn't excite me LOL. That's why I'm holding out for another color of the Prime X Strung!
would this complement the Gel Nimbus for quicker runs or are they too similar??? I want to run more marathons/half-marathons but i'm not an elite runner so i don't know that i need a Metaspeed...
This would be a faster shoe than your nimbus and if you don’t want a carbon plated shoe then this is a good companion shoe. However it is technically illegal to race in the SB but unless a World Athletics Race it doesn’t really matter. An alternative choice for you I’d suggest is getting the ASICS Magic Speed 3 instead if you don’t mind running in a carbon plate. It’s less cushioned and faster than your nimbus which is what you want so you’re not always running in super cushioned shoes all the time. But not recommended to run more an a HM in them.
I'm looking to buy my first running shoes, and where i live , the only place i can run in is the road : meaning hard ground, would you say that the asics superblast would be good for me and my knees and anckles plz !
Do you guys think they are comparable to the Saucony Endorphin Shift 2? I'm thinking of just picking up another pair, but I am quite interested in this Superblast.

I am back from Achilles Tendon injuries and did not run for 19 days.. I notice that in the Novablast my Achilles Tendon is sore.. Not in the Speed 2.. So.. Is the heel area more stable in the Superblast?
Please explain what type of foam is used for the midsole, in terms of whether it's EVA-based, ETPU-based, PEBAX-based, so forth. All the manufacturer marketing lingo does not help at all. Thanks.
No thanks..I’m just embarking on enjoying my 1st NovaBlast w.v3. And at 5’3” 102 lbs this would be way too much height for me and probably not get enough impact from my weight. If they’d come out with this colorway on the NovaBlast3 I’ll pick it up in a jiffy though ❤
