My Dad bought One, Brand New , for about $60.00 , sometime in 1956. it could fire .22 Shorts...22 Long ( no longer manufactured)..and .22 Long Rifle Ammo..all mixed in its Tubular magazine. it's the First firearm my Dad taught me how to shoot with at age 9.. that was 65- years ago..l still have the piece and will pass it on to my grandson..4th generation 😊👍
LOVE, LOVE this rifle! Shoots, 22 shorts, longs, and long rifles. Mix them up, and it still shoots great!! Have one for 40 yr.s now, thinking of taking it with me! 😂👍

I have looked for one of these for a while now. I have had 4 come through my home for me to fix and after dealing with a few I fell in live. Having the semi auto able to shoot 22 shorts is what I want. Everyone i got had been took apart and noone could reassemble...lol. awesome lil rifles
I have 1 that my great-grandfather bought out of the Montgomery Wards catalog right after the great depression. Except it's a Wards Westernfield. And the bolt locks shut so you can fire the shorts and longs without malfunctions. It's only meant to be fired in semiautomatic with long rifle ammunition according to the manual. It's fed our family with rabbits and squirrels for decades. Crazy accurate.
I grew up with the tube fed fun guns. When a brick of rounds was like $5 we did a LOT pf shooting and hunting on the farm. Some were so quite they seemed to be suppressed.Rarely a problem, except fr some crappy ammo once in a while. When CCI came out it sure changed everything. Great find!! I hope I can get that lucky.
I picked one up last September for a hundred fifty dollars at a gun show the internals were so filthy that only once in awhile would it cycle and fire after I cleaned it up completely disassembled and cleaned and a little bit of oil where necessary it works like a new gun

I had a hell of a find! The little Mexican restaurant I go to every day, one of the waitresses her brother had a rifle. He approached me one morning and asked me if I would be interested. He had a Remington 700 BDL chambered in 30-06. You wanted $500 but I offered him $400 and he said he would take it! And I tell you, this rifle has one hell of a kick!
My grandpa passed down an old Model 60 to my mom, now it'll probably be passed down to me eventually. Looks like shit because it was stored in the washroom for many years but after a bit of cleaning it runs just fine so I'll be happy to receive it one day!
I have a Glenfield Marlin Model 60 that was made in 1982. My dad got it brand new when he was 15 and he gave it to me. It’s one of the rifles that has the squirrel engraved into the stock. It’s in immaculate shape. He took really good care of it.

I have one similar model 52 with brass deflector on the side. Shoot’s really good groups and shoots short long and long rifle ammunition. Great old guns. Made in 50s.

I love the heavy duty-very long barrel in this rifle; increases the accuracy of this rifle. Bluing refinished!! Wood stock in excellent condition!!! The rifle is deadly accurate at 100 yards!!
@@theonionman that's probably the old Stevens buckhorn they were good accurate old 22s my dad had one when I was growing up in the sixties great rifle shot a lot of rabbits squirrel and grouse with that old rifle growing up and it also counted for it's share of deer out of season also we never lacked for meat growing up as a kid on the farm that old Stevens buckhorn 22lr l s was used to shoot beef and hogs in the fall when butchering time came plus all of the hunting I did with it and all of the other critters and varmints it was used on such as skunk and coin great old guns
My buddy found a 582 while he was moving. Wouldn’t cycle or any movement. Took it apart and cleaned it. Set a water bottle 60 yards out. First shot was a bullseye. He sold it to me for $150. Had a red field scope on it, a soft case and 1000 rounds of ammo. It’s my favorite rifle and all my buddies want it. Haha. Not for sale. Things sweet
Aw the first gun I ever shot when I was 10 years old...my grandpa put a small scope designed for a .22 that just had an elevation knob on it and my first shot I ever took I was able hit dead center at about 75 yards. It's such a good plinker gun and a great rifle for beginners, very accurate for short up to medium range. The most range I've got out of it was I aimed about 3 inches above a 24.oz can of Arizona Tea at 300yards and was able to hit it. I have seen people push it out 400yards or more at times though on youtube video's over the years.
Brother bought me a $55 Remington Marlin for 11th birthday approx 47 years ago...I've probably shot way over 100,000 rounds out of it...finally replaced the buffer after I could no longer piece it back together with glue...it still shoots beautifully and accurately good little rifle

I owned a few of these back in the 1970s actually these rifles were everywhere and they were extremely dangerous especially if you were a gang member because you can pump out 18 rounds in a few seconds end it for one of these bullets hit you and it hit a bone it would ricochet and create a lot of damage. I had a friend who got shot in the hip the bullet came out of his neck

My first 22 was this gun. Mine was early production. Had not grooves for mounting a scope, was in the brown, with an oil finish. Best swap I ever made. Shot many a squirrel with that gun. Lost it in a fire. It held 21 shorts plus one.
I have 2 rifles that load like that but they are much older, they have the octagonal shaped barrels. Unfortunately they take .22wmf or some wierd ammo like that. (I can't remember the letters) but it's nearly impossible to find the ammo for it. I've got one box from a couple decades ago that's it... 😞
I recently rehabbed a 77 year old Remington model #514 for a coworker. It hadn't been fired(or cleaned) in years, and looked like it had been 'put away wet' in the last millennium- which was entirely possible.😁 I completely broke it down, cleaned it thoroughly, removed the oxidation & lubed it up. It now runs like a clock & fires 1 inch groups at 30 feet from a bench rest. The owner will be having some custom work & refinishing done on the stock.
Lesson learned: old computer towers are concealment, not cover.

I have the butt stock loading version of this rifle. It was my grandfather's and was given to me after he passed. I cherish it.
I have that exact gun. For how old it is, it is very accurate and i’ve never had a problem with mine jamming before.
When I was kid, we use to hunt squirrels with my grand dad with one of those, we became pretty good shots too..👍🏾

Fun fact: if you remove the sear spring retainer on the bottom of a 550 and hold the rifle upside down, it's a machine gun

That's a 22 wrf Winchester rim fire and the guns are fine but I believe that the ammo is obsolete might find some at a gun show maybe
