Glad to hear from you Karthik, welcome to Goth Gamer Nation! Learning the story behind this game's creation has been really interesting and inspiring, what you guys managed to pull off was incredibly impressive. I love these stories of people with little experience or resources but a ton of passion and ideas that they need the world to see. @@xBINARYGODxI mean, yes there were big fish during this time for sure, but it was still a period where most investment institutions severely underestimated the internet and video game industry and consequently lacked the manipulation power seen today. Most small companies were formed with friends who had started as modders and still carried a deep passion that wasn't flayed out of the final product due to whiny investors and out of touch publishers. They did in fact see other devs as fellow explorers in the use of this new technology. There's plenty of stories from this time where kids basically gained ceo positions over night and yet would still go out of their way to provide their self made software engine for essentially free just because they trusted a kid or liked his ides at a new (and potentially a future competitor) company they were starting. This specific example occurred with the first ID tech engine and I believe the original devs of deus ex but it may have been another game. Point is just helping each other wasn't seen as trading corporate secrets. Plus you had Valve creating the core of their company with modders fresh out of high school and of course you had Looking Glass essentially being a party office that still produced some of the most important games of all time. So yeah, companies like SEGA, Nintendo, and Sony were still corporate shit bags but grassroots dev studios really were pretty brotherly amongst themselves because most didn't care about money or competition but instead just wanted to create. This of course led to many going bankrupt but it's a very magic and important period in gaming history. One can't help but think we'd have consistently better releases and more in-touch/receptive devs if they didn't have to answer to micromanaging Corp hacks. That communal characteristic is important for all artists but gets perverted once the sole focus is squeezing every last cent out of customers. Just getting into the industry now or even an internship is ridiculous. There's zero face to face interaction or even phone calls. I mean, Vicarious Visions' was actually pretty well known to Nintendo fans around the early 2000s since they were an _expert_ port house known for a good amount of impossible ports. Like getting Tony Hawk 2 on the GBA with 3D skaters, or Guitar Hero on the DS. Even their handheld version of Tony Hawk Downhill Jam actually ran a full 3D engine on the GBA. If you weren't a hardcore Nintendo fan, they did the "impossible" Xbox port of Doom 3 too. They were also the first non-Naughty Dog team to handle Crash Bandicoot thanks to their GBA Crash games that utilized pre-rendered sprites a la DKC but also FMV backgrounds for the "run towards the camera" stages. Like, they were real good. Just have to point that out. They may have been attached to loads of licensed stuff, but they did not thumb their noses at the opportunities given to them. It was a genuine blow to the industry that Activision forced them to work on stupid Diablo II Remaster and then just.... smushed them into Blizzard as a support studio for garbage Diablo games. There's a reason many people hope that Microsoft gives them their independence back now that they own Activision. They were a real ambitious jack-of-all-trades studio that always gave 100% and could deliver a great Spider-Man game one year, then a great Crash game the next, and then a great FPS the next. Dude can you please review a sci-fi horror ps1 game called Overblood? It has unintentional comedy and one of the funniest death screams I've ever heard in a game. It's a game that is tailor made for your channel's content style.
Since this game uses adlib sound in dosbox, it is probably midi which means it may have been composed on more professional hardware. I wonder if it would sound better with an Roland MT-32 or similar.
A lot of people who grew up with games wanted become game developers as teenagers, almost all of them didn't, myself included, but props to these guysx they actually did it and even if it flop its more than most can say

You and Ross Scott are the most creative creators on the platform IMO. You both understand entertainment and have skills and will to produce it in a way that is not weekly by the numbers same old video that got you famous, but now with 80% less heart. Respect.
fyi "Raymond Luxury Yacht" (who supposedly plays the hooded man) is a reference to a Monty Python's Flying Circus episode. The 'joke' is the guys name is spelt "Raymond Luxury Yacht", but it is pronounced "Throat Wobbler Mangrove." Gotta love obscure references to obscure 70's British humor.
He better have talked about the incredibly obscure and extremely impossible to naturally discover secret end route that took like 20 something years to actually find in this or he didn't do enough research before making the video. Let's find out. Edit: Oh dope. He does. Alright I give this my seal of "enough effort". Double edit: Oh, but then he goes on to whinge over "problematic" themes. Veto.

Grats on a 100k subs! Hate to harp on the tone police thing but I have no clue what brand you are even trying to make here anymore. Offensive content and mature themes, and we love body horor, but don't say weird things about autism and don't show realistic depictions of sex workers! Do what you want but I and many others would just hate to see you become a breadtuber who has to inject their 'correct' morals in everything. Also as a note, you can't consider yourself punk or even counter-culture and simultaneously align yourself with the co-opted beliefs of a near complete majority of corporations and government officials/departments, as well as trying to limit 'harsh' speech. You do you though, but you just seemed a bit too intelligent to fall for this shit.
Unfortunately grim has these moments of cringe leftoidism. The thing keeping me suscribed is that he keeps it limited foe the most part but if it starts polluting his content more then i'm out
Why would the beliefs of major corporations have anything to do with whether someone is 'punk'? As you pointed out, the beliefs of major corporations aren't sincerely held and are merely co-opted for the sake of branding.

While it's now Bizzard Albany I had so many friends work there as QA testers, they were pretty chill like the staff manager gave me a tour of the place when I asked on a whim (had to sign a super basic NDA), so that was kinda neat (no idea how chill they are now that they are a Bizzard office), anyhoo keep up the good work Grimbo
These are exactly the kind of games I love seeing you cover, Grim
That "my neck, my back, my at least two other things" joke was brilliant. If you know, you know.
You've gotta do Black Dahlia after this. I mean come on, pleeeeeease. You'll fucking nail it.
You're never far from my thoughts, Grimmy. Thanks for another video.
Dude can you please review a sci-fi horror ps1 game called Overblood? It has unintentional comedy and one of the funniest death screams I've ever heard in a game. It's a game that is tailor made for your channel's content style.
Thank you grim beard, your videos are the only thing that can treat my insomnia
"In truth, I'm just being a little shit"
Most honest line I've ever heard from a reviewer.
Thank you for another top-tier video and for reminding me that I'm not as alone as it seems.
Since this game uses adlib sound in dosbox, it is probably midi which means it may have been composed on more professional hardware. I wonder if it would sound better with an Roland MT-32 or similar.
Every Grimbeard video is better than 50% of movies 😎
Grim Beard you are still the best reviews.
What a nice birthday gift, thank you Grim 🎉
Good videogame. Decent coverage, despite your persistent attempts to criticize perfectly valid interpretations of reality.
Aren't you like thirty? Chill out with the "i'm old" shit.
Pretty sure mid-twenties lol which makes it even funnier
Let's go always love me some Grimbeardo to start my totally productive day.
I've seen Babylon 5 4 times and it is my favorite show of all time.
I have no idea what that penny farthing thing could be in reference to. O_o
A lot of people who grew up with games wanted become game developers as teenagers, almost all of them didn't, myself included, but props to these guysx they actually did it and even if it flop its more than most can say
I mean they did end up succeeding in the end. Most people have probably played a Vicarious Visions game at one point.
Anyone know what song plays in the background around 32:20? I know he makes his own music sometimes, but I can't find it at all...
I second this question.
Nothing beats the depression better then a New Grim Video 👍🙂
Hope that things are going better for you now. Even though I can't support you through pateron right now, I can at least watch the whole thing and leave a comment for the algorithm.
Was so excited to wake up this morning and see a new video. My boyfriend asked if it was you and I yell back "YEAH! GOTH GAMER NATION!" and he laughed "well he likes kickstarts so he's good."
Loved all the little music references sprinkled throughout. Always a great time Grim!
Veto.
Love these older game reviews from you, Grim!
Isk what I love more the long videos or the shorts! LIKE I BEEN HERRE FOR THEBSTART WITH THE GAME REVIEWS BUT ALSO WANT YOU TO GET CLOUT FORNYOUR SHORTS DO YOU CAN GET MORE MUNS
Once again, Grim delivers the gold. Hilarious and brightened my gloomy November day. Grats on breaking 100k subs, dude. Also, nice Tool reference.
Ah, good. Another video I get to spend 9 hours on bc I keep FUCKING PAUSING EVERY FEW SECONDS FROM LAUGHING SO HARD AND NOT WANTING TO MISS ANYTHING A
Grats on a 100k subs!
Finally, something to put on while I disassociate and eat a sandwich off my bare chest in bed.
Damn dude save us some pussy
“They made a video game and I didnt” was a great point about generally enjoying video game art and narratives.
Continuing my personal mission to "like" every one of Grimbeard's (much under-appreciated) videos.
Grimmy your Doubles Entendres and Innuendos are positively getting out of hand, you're keeping me on the edge (of my seat) for so long and I can't help but bust out (a chuckle)!
At 2:47 you can see Velan's office, and I swear to god my first thought was of the Tanz Akademie from Suspiria. Just, you know, a little less Argento-y.
The part where you always leave
Blurred photo of a woman
Sailor Mercury
Im in a blanket (instrumental)
Red Little eyes
Everything before that (the ghostly bells ending man do you have just that !?!)
And ton more. I appreciate you !
I'm so glad I found your channel. You make very interesting vids. Tysm for your hardwork!
Mr. Grim you are so cool and goth af, I love you. Please do Buffy the Video Game Slayer, I am begging you on my knees........
This game is so weird that I didn't even fully get what it's about. This is the kind of stuff I enjoy watching the most 🤭
YESSSS MY FUCKING DUDE. You have made my day.
Thank you.
Was that a Blazing Saddles reference at around 1:06:45? "I'm the average gamer. Salt of the earth. A moron." :3
Congrats on the 100k Grim!
>sorry it’s taking too long
it’s no big whoop dog I’m up to snizzuff on all the Grimbeard vids
Let's pour one out for Knockout City though. Unique PVP gameplay with a dedicated team.
Randomly seeing Ian from Forgotten Weapons in a relevant cut was something I did not see coming for this video.
Cool wallpaper! Much rat! 10/10
