FUN FACT: UP ran their stock cars right after the tender. The later tenders were fitted with water sprayers to prevent the straw from catching fire 🔥 from burning embers out of the engine stack.
    There’s a documentary on it.
Yes! There was an incident where livestock was lost due to fire.

Great video I noticed that you have the excursion oil burning Big Boy. That’s the one I purchased.

Thanks Benjamin! Yup, I went with the oil burner specifically because I have touched that one in person. Things that I have seen or touched in person play a big role in my purchase decisions.

Nice looking cars. Good detail and paint. The sounds? Meh. You could build a small replica of the Chicago Stock Yards, which are long gone now. There are still a few places that do butchering of live hogs, but they are few and far between. The Ashland Avenue Yard is right by where the old stock yards were and serviced those cars. On hot, summer days, you can still smell where the slaughtering took place. Interesting history, really.

Thank John! I know exactly where you are talking about. I grew up right off of Western Ave.
