This was excellent. A slow-burn, sort of creeping dread that reveals itself moment by moment, keeping the listener enthralled. As the parallels between the kid and the story became clearer, that slow, sinking feeling of an unavoidable evil became increasingly real. Well done, and thank you!
My pleasure! Glad you liked it Dr.
An evil? I thought it was a hero story? At the end a kid realizes his dream and will become a true hero and leader the only real ones which those of who you never know about.
It was fine but too long. It could have been reduced to 30 minutes and it would still be just fine.
The end was unexpected, honestly when they started talking about the kids step dad i was seeing the book as a sort of entrapment. What a twist...
Entrapment? Are you saying you were expecting the book to be used in a ploy to out Joel as the murderer, Hamlet style?
Did you know that you’re a sinner? But did you know that Jesus loves you and He can change that, all you have to do is believe that He died on the cross and rose from the grave 3 days later, repent, and accept God into your life, it’s your choice, Jesus loves you

You not only have a great narrator's voice, but i can't tell you how much i appreciate you putting emotion into the stories!!!!! I have been to some really crappy channels where the person had a very monotonous tone and is clearly just reading it. Add to that how you don't interrupt with ads and you are by far the best on youtube!!!! I watched someone else a couple days ago and had 6 or more ads for a 30 min video.
every once and awhile you come across a creepypasta that is completely new and fresh, really a great pallet cleanser as someone whom has been enjoying creepypasta for a very long time. I loved this one.
Have you heard "The best Creepypasta story" or something like that? It's narrated by Lighthouse Horror too, look it up if you haven't.
I'm not personally saying it's "the best" because I'm new to this genre and i don't know that many stories but it is a really good story. I friggin loved it.
I got here by accident. My phone glitched and picked this for me! But I am very glad it did ❤️ a new talented narrator to binge
Wow lol! It was meant to be Katherine! Welcome to the channel!
A glitch it was not it was the ghosts! Hehehehehe
Yes I am OBSESSED with this guy. I also listen to CreepyMcPasta but Lighthouse Horror is hands down my favorite. I can't stand Mr.Creeps - something about his voice. I listen to Lighthouse Horror on my way to and from work every day, and any time in driving around without my kids. (They control the music when they're with me lol)
@@meganbaker3598 Yeah, i can see why some might not like Mr.Creeps (i listen to him once in a while) but Lighthouse Horror is really good with the voice change.
@@dsandoval9396 yes he's my favorite narrator on here. My next favorite is a toss up between Vidiith22 and CreepyGhostStories. And yeah I think I listened to one of Mr.Creeps recently but idk why his voice is just like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Robin Hood was one of my favorite stories when i was a child. This is a whole new story for me. Dang the kid in this story is brutal. But this is excellant horror. Great job in making me shudder!
Thanks Lesslie! I liked those too
This sounds like a book you give to a kid in order to figure out if the kids a sociopath
The sticky substance in the book cover was a some sort of poison.
Yep!
@@LighthouseHorror I was confused if he somehow failed by spilling a drink or that it was in fact the poison hahah
Yeah, i think there is kinda a twist at the end but the listener is in on it.
I think the teacher THINKS that the kid failed, but the REAL final test is the kid killing the teacher who doesn't know HE'S the final test.
When you said the unmerry men I cracked up. That needs to be the name of a goth barbershop quartet.
"Dark Harmony Serenade"
Verse 1:
In shadows deep, our voices blend,
Four Unmerry Men, their sorrow penned,
A haunting hymn, a somber tale,
In darkness, our voices wail.
Chorus:
Dark harmony, our souls entwine,
In mournful melody, we find our sign,
Unmerry Men, forever bound,
In eerie echoes, our truth resound.
Verse 2:
With shears of night, we trim the air,
Each note a cut, each harmony a dare,
Our voices paint a portrait drear,
The Unmerry Men, forever near.
Verse 3:
A symphony of shadows, a melancholic grace,
Unmerry Men, in darkness we embrace,
Through night's embrace, our spirits soar,
In dark harmony, forevermore.
Chorus:
Dark harmony, our souls entwine,
In mournful melody, we find our sign,
Unmerry Men, forever bound,
In eerie echoes, our truth resound.
I have always prefered LighthouseHorror's narration more than other channels, his voice is smooth and he sounds clear when speaking, and his voice just has more emotion than others, great job once more LighthouseHorror! You amaze me and hundreds with each video
This was an awesome piece, - a great, original idea and perfect execution! Just one minor detail: you cannot keep a drawn bow to hold someone at arrowpoint pressed to his back as if it was a gun, the tension is just too big.
And bears have been extinct in Great Britain for more than 1500 years. But other than those two details, it's good.
I think it depends on the type of bow, no?
I mean there's the long bow, in which case absolutely you can no way keep it drawn for an extended period of time, but what about a short bow?
@@dsandoval9396how bout a crossbow?
1 year later it must have been a crossbow because he reaches around and takes his sword@@jackiec498
I actually felt sad for those poor bowmen. :'(
I did too. I hated the main character
@@LighthouseHorror I don't think Joel would be too happy with that - I'd best not tell him. ;) Enjoyed the reading BTW.
They were weak and foolish. Hopefully prince John puts an end to this dangerous bastard.
@@ericmcgill8117 why does horror always attract edge lords
What he did with the bowmen made a lot more sense once he becomes aware he's the sheriffs man but normally killing those screening visitors to the camp wouldn't be a good way to get in good with the camp if planning for a long stay lol.
A very chilling and creepy tale! If you were to twist reality just a bit, you could easily see something like this actually happening. The ending was so deliciously ironic! the teacher who we know has connived in, and covered up the murder of at least five teenage kids, is himself killed by the last "candidate" he selected for the test. The bastard gets his well deserved comeuppance delivered by the same shadowy organization he has aided. the teacher made the mistake of hubris----thinking that an organization that groomed child psychopaths as contract murderers would value his life. He thought himself too valuable to them to be afraid. And the fact that the last "test" was not the student reading the book----but the teen's deliberate carrying out of a clandestine murder of his teacher was utterly chilling---but also very satisfying. A terrifying and chilling story, with a seriously creepy ending.
Who says this doesn’t happen?
I thought Joel failed the test, because he cheated when he had to fight Little John. The book said that they knew if he had cheated... Still, a very well written and chilling conclusion!
@@erich930 when they say 'cheated' I'm betting they meant like putting your finger in the alternative choice, reading ahead and if you don't like it, going back and making the other decision. I've read a LOT of the choose your own adventure books. They're actually rather fun. I highly suggest trying them out.
@@amashizaino The word "cheat" was specifically used in the option Joel went with at 7:32 "if you wish to cheat, turn to 23." Joel didn't cheat as in what you said, he cheated as in picking the cheating option within the story itself.
At the beginning I was thinking... Poor boy. I hope nothing bad happens to him if he reads the book... Me at the end 👁️👄👁️
No ads?! I love it...no interruptions to kill the mood💯
You're legitimately the best creepypasta narrator on youtube. Your voice is perfect for these stories I swear.
I really appreciate that Eric!!!
Very new here, I Concur with L-H being the Best Voice & Narrator.! lucky L-H was the first I listened to, when another narrator "auto" starts I'll give a chance. Few seconds in I go click anything with L-H without even reading title, (Never Disappoints) Something about L-H he really draws the listener in with subtle emotions in certain words plus added in with the change of a charter to another. WelderX
The true monster here is Joel. Manipulative and homicidal, he’s also showing almost every sign of being genuinely psychopathic.
Yes but the organization and the teacher are just as evil if not more so. I really don't enjoy stories where the evil wins but it's a well done story regardless.
@@Omegatonyisgod i would not say they are winning as the all on the same team per say. This sound like a cool backstory for one of the villain the hero might encounter
I’ve never heard of stories like this but this is awesome. It’s nice how the book kinda resembles the kids crazy life. Well done @Lighthouse Horror
Who the f*¿k has NEVER heard of the "Choose your own Adventure" series?
My grade-school library, hilariously, even had a whole section devoted to them. I think that they are a way to get otherwise non-interested kids reading...I mean, at least they are reading SOMETHING, right?
What's the world coming to when somebody has never heard of that series?
Seriously, though...I can't wait to finish this story-the whole concept of a horror story being based on choices that the reader are making is brilliant. Fantastically Creepy...great choice on both sides: the author and Lighthouse Horror.
You've really NEVER heard of the Choose your own Adventure series? Weird.

I 100 percent expected him to go back and see what was deeper in the forest
I guess the agency wouldnt want him too curious, or straying away from his instructions
I grew up in the late 70s and 80s and my mom bought me those books back then I’d love them.
Even during the summer I would read them and that says a lot about me because I wasn’t into books. Then when I graduated high school at 17 1/2 I joined the ARMY went into the infantry and became a Ranger and went on all kinds of adventures and I loved it. Great story. I used to LOVE the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books!!! This was a great lil bit of nostalgia! Thanks! The Robin Hood one and the one about King Author were my faves.

Oh damn we used to read choose your own ending books back in the eighties.I guess it kind of ruins the whole idea of it but we used to cheat when we were kids and Skip ahead to check out the different endings of the story and the narration dude 👍☠️👍. Just curious are you going to record different endings for us to choose from
Me 2 I used to like some of those!
On a related note, I loved those choose your own adventure books but constantly having to flip back and forth from the beginning to the end of the book and trying to find the right page was such an immersion breaking pain in the ass. Even on the off chance your next page was on THE next page

Really good concept! I liked the refreshing change of pace.
I'm to assume that the teacher died from touching the books cover coated in poison.
The teacher didn't know what got him.
Doing a genocide playthrough be like..
Lol that made me laugh
Wow, awesome 👏 I was enthralled. The end took me a moment but then I thought about the kid’s methods and I realized he pays attention. Smart killers are the most dangerous
Actually, smart killers are not the most dangerous. Random spree and no motive killers are.
@@jeffdishong4853 well yeah, but if they’re sloppy, they get caught more easily
Did not expect that ending. It was epic!
Glad you enjoyed it! yeah that ending comes out of nowhere hah
Spoiler comment:
For me the twist wasn't that the kid had murdered his step-father. It was pretty apparent the child was a psychopath by the manipulative, predatory and calculating way he thought. The twist for me was the book being used as a recruitment technique. Though I wonder why they killed the teachers. Was it to tie up loose ends? Or was that teacher in particular was up for termination?
yes,to make sure NO ONE knew about it
THANK YOU, I HAD THE EXACT SAME QUESTION! WTH!
I couldn't find a comment on this, so here I go.
The book said, "we'll know if you cheated." What if that refers to the fact that he chose the "cheat" option in the first fight?
I know it doesn't, but I think that idea gives it a funny twist on the ending of the story. He actually DID fail the test because he cheated in the story, so the kid doesnt get the offer and the teacher still dies😂
OK... just how does one holed a drawn bow at someone’s back and reach around to disarm them at the same time?
Lol! Good point
I was wondering the same thing! Maybe using their foot? Haha
Plot twist: he's Batman
With great difficulty!😂
This was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed it and was looking forward to Joel turning the page and making his choice.

Two years late to this, subscribed about a month ago and this story just showed up in my feed today. Excellent storytelling as always and I was not at all prepared for the ending - sad but epic!
I've been watching Amphibia recently and COULD NOT get the image of Sasha as Joel, the main character of this one, out of my head
A excellent twist on a classic! Also it gives credence to be careful whom you mess with
See, there's people like Joel, and then there's people like me who can't pick the mean options in games because I feel bad for the NPCs while wondering if I'm actually a bad human being inside. I feel more assured now that naw, I'm probably fine. Thanks, Joel, you literal psychopath.
Extremely frightening. A beautiful display of how quickly things can go south. In high school no less.
Thanks Teddy!
Love this story! As I listen to stories, it plays like a movie in my head...I went from Little John in the Robin Hood with Kevin Costner at the river crossing to Friar Tuck from the animated movie..him stirring the pot and tasting from the laddle. The ending was a nice twist!
Boy... that escalated quickly.
Im addicted to this channel listen on my break at work find ones short enough to hear the entire thing listen at home everyday
🔥🧨That sh*t right there was fire! It hit all points for me. All the way back to &including going thru that select ur fate type books! Bravo
Thank you Crystal!!!
That was a good listen. I can't imagine said agency wasting an evaluator every time they get a successful recruit although I can imagine them making the recruit peel off the page to see if he has the resolve to do it then evaluator using that to verify the final test passed.
Unique story and great delivery. As much fun as it was scary. 10/10 would listen again.
I appreciate it my friend!
Love this story! Love your narration! You always paint a story in my mind! Despite having listened several times over the years, you always keep me on the edge of my seat!
This is easily one of the best stories I've heard so far. Great narration too. I am confused about the ending though. Did the kid die or the teacher?
Glad you liked it! The teacher did
@@LighthouseHorror ah nice that's what I thought
@@LighthouseHorror Are you sure about that? It sounded to me like the kid failed the test because he spilled soda on his book. So the teacher had to put the book in his bag for later destruction and now has to stage the kid’s “suicide” in a month. I listened to it thrice for clarification. If I’m incorrect, I’d be interested to hear how you reached the conclusion that the teacher died. I didn’t get that impression at all. How could the teacher be dead if the last line of the story is the teacher heading off to the restroom to wash his hands after touching the sticky book, and saying “it’s a real shame” about Joel? Sounds like no one died… yet. But the student will in a month.
@@HepnoticalThe sticky stuff wasn’t soda, it was poison. That’s why the book’s instructions said to be careful not to touch the real cover once the plastic was removed.
@@katherinezimmerman6997 Thanks, that certainly would make things make more sense. But that was just implied, right? They didn’t come right out and say it? That’s what I was listening for was confirmation… but if it’s the consensus that’s totally good enough for me!
I was just shy of reading a part adventure novel, I always read the bad decisions first. The right result was always listed as the next page with all bad decisions listed after the end of the book. The decisions were part of a maze too but it was the schools book to I just admired it’s artwork
The story and setting is cozy despite having a bit of gore lol
