I kind of disagree, I get what you mean, but I think if the author had made the story any longer it would have dragged on. The total feeling of hopelessness and the will to survive only feeding that feeling was “executed” 😉quite well in the end I thought!

That's why women get a bad rap as drivers/navigators! You can plop me down blindfolded in the middle of BFE and I'll no which direction is which, and I'd never continue to drive blindly in the "wrong" direction.
Funny thing...some people actually have an innate compass and can instinctually find NSEW. We did an experiment in grade school. Only three of us could get it right every time blindfolded. It's kind of a fun thing to try with friends!

Then when she get out, the house was empty and abandoned but there are still the tea cup on the table as a sign of something that had happened last night, she's now returns to the normal world and her car is also completely fine. It's probably another overused ending but I would prefer than the actual ending that she just stupidly run out and got killed.

So the restless spirits tried to save her from bcoming one of them by showing her proof and telling her the truth....but does she take them seriously? NO, which explains y she literally ran into the arms of the devil himself! Awesome story!

I must have heard this one in a compilation... See, this is why I leave comments, so I know which ones I've listened to already.
Anyway, fun fact, the name Melinda is Greek in origin and means 'like honey'. Melinda, Melinoia, and Melindia were epithets sometimes used to refer to Persephone, as the name Persephone was taboo to speak. By using a softer name, it was hoped they could invoke her sweeter side.
All that to say... Good name choice for a gal who ends up in perpetual limbo. Reminds me a little of another Greek myth, where Thanatos gets caught in his own chains by Sisyphus, causing the halt of mortal deaths. Look, I have no idea if the author of this one put half as much thought into the premise or if I'm overanalysing, but I'm tired and will tie any and everything into mythology given the chance. I'ma go highfive Hypnos now, good night~

Spoilers Below. Don't read until after listening to the whole story.
The deadbeat dad was definitely a Hitchcock red herring. Basically his only purpose was to begin the story. But was he real? Was that really him who called or was it a trick, a lure? I wish he had been more involved, perhaps staying at the roadhouse as well. Clearly the cloaked figure was Death, but why torture these people? And I would have loved for Melinda to have been clever enough to somehow trick Death in the end and escape as well as free the others.

I need a sequel to thiiiiis. What does it mean when Granny said she still has a chance and that she just need to wait until morning? Is there a possibility that she could escape the hooded creature? Is the eternity magic affecting only the house? If Granny intends no harm, why did she invite her to stay the night even if she knew the fates of those who did? Granny could have just told her to drive in the direction where she came from as fast as she can and don't look back and she didn't have to encounter that creature. That house is basically hell. I just kinda wish Melinda fainted after hearing Calvin's story and everything was just a dream though, if the author would make a sequel to it.

I think she ran mindlessly without noticing the creature and the knife, because she wasn't expecting it to be outside that fast.

This was a good story and I feel if most of us ended up in a house like this with guests telling us stories of unable to die and showing grotesque wounds we'd probably think it was all just make up but I would of listened and really examined everything, since they all died they didn't need food but Malinda wasn't dead so if she didn't go outside would she still need food? And where did the food and tea come from? Little things my mind think's about but it is just a story and it was made to enjoy not think about the little things

As a victim of eye laceration,
    The last part got me.
But when the eye gets punctured, it doesnt go black right away, theres a light starburst then immediately black, then the pain.
    Horrible fuckin pain,
But the bright starburst is certainly memorable

I know im 3 years late here but the clue is in the being itself, this is either death, fey, or something ancient with a curse attached to it. Either way, there were soooo many ways to go with this story that could of led to a better outcome, possibly, for the protagonist. This is why as a writer myself, i will sit with a story for a long time working out the plot before i even begin to write. Good story and narration overall either way.
