I think my main issue is attatchment (which yes.. perfectionism) where I feel like... (as an artist) 1. The idea has to be important enough for me to draw. I am a naturally "creative" person (as in, it's not too hard for me to come up with ideas, I always have something), but it's hard for me to *settle* on one. So perfectionism issue no. 1, it has to be something "worth it", something I'm "attatched to" "THE idea". But.. almost everything is worth drawing! This mindset has limited me so much in terms of what I have practiced. 2. Of course if it's something I'm attached to I have to portray it perfectly otherwise it hurts. It's too directly tied into my ego. 3. It doesn't help when the so called "perfect works" don't do well on social media, subconsciously making me feel like I have to perfect it even more. Recently I have been dabbling in inktober and I made my own prompt, because I have already set out "not to care" from the start, I have suddenly become much faster its INSANE lol mostly because I am not attached to any of it (..as much) so I don't perfect every detail. It's still ongoing ofc but it's helping immensely!
I love that Hank Green quote. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing this.
