everyones freaking out over the premium but honestly i dont really care; i plan to use this for rigging and tweening in my animations and none of the things i need are in the pro version, my face litterally lit up when he mentioned character rigging, and i cant wait to get my computer out of the shop and start animating!

This worries me because I used to use Hitfilm and it got bought by Artlist and now it’s just completely dead they’ve not done an update this year at all. I hate when bigger companies buy the small guys, they always come up with something worse or in Hitfilms case just let it rot.

Instead of ctrl c then ctrl v you can do ctrl+J to duplicate.

Not taking anything away from Cavalry at all, but you do realize that After Effects actually comes with a whole category of text animation presets. Create your text, center it, drop Fly in from Bottom and Fade up from the Effects > Animation Presets>Text>Animate In onto your text, open advanced and change to by line for both and you are done. If you want to do it by character, word, or line, just change it in the drop down under advanced. Drag your keyframes for percentage complete to shorten or lengthen the effect, etc. A very large number of those presets work together really well, so you can combine them into some pretty complex text animations fairly quickly. Again, not taking anything away from Cavalry or your choice, but sometimes it's just being more familiar with the tool.

You are a goat! I’m a vlogger, but I like to make talking head videos like this one often. I use the ZV-1F and I’m looking to upgrade. I want better autofocus (this camera is know to have jittery autofocus, and I noticed this when I watch on larger screens) I want a full frame camera, with true 4k quality. 24-30fps to be exact. I also want better cinematic quality (especially in low light)… I guess I want the fx30… but I still want something less expensive than that. I want to ease my way into these higher end cameras. What do you Recommend? I know this can take my videos to the next level.

If you run the whole Adobe suite, you're kinda numb. No one in their right mind does anything else than exactly what they need within Adobe. Or you got too much money to spill. Lightroom is specialised, It's very few complete competitors. That and Illustrator, for my use. It's the only thing I will want to pay for from Adobe. Everything else has better alternatives. I've been on and off video editors, DaVinci resolve is the most reliable although slightly laggy and buggy at times. For art/image editing, I use Clip Studio Paint which I actually don't recommend mainly because it's not open source and it has a lot of spam/bloatware in the addons market place (Not to mention is scummy). Still looking for an alternative to the art software. I came from Photoshop initially and with video editing I came from Vegas Pro and Filmora. I don't regret the switches. There's no stupid subscription cost or obstacles. It's just there when I need it, can be installed anywhere anytime.

2:40 in regards to the text animation > AE has an insane amount of amazing animation presets at your disposal. With your text layer selected, double click on any of them and your text is now animated!

I used to use pirated photoshop and premiere pro and even I left them for affinity photo and Resolve. Blender is great for animations.

All good, until 1:18 when you sorta conjure up a sky from Lord knows where! When I try to open a sky it opens in a totally different layer panel, not in the same one like yours does. And then, like David Copperfield, you magic up more skies from smewhere!! Could you just explain to this 82 year old newbie, how you bring a replacement sky into your project.

I see one scenario as continuation of a one off purchase base with maybe version upgrades at a fraction of new licence cost. I use topaz and it is awesome but each year the price is full cost for a year's worth of upgrade. Having left Adobe as soon as they went subscription, I embrace ai as another creative tool and would see this as a potential reason to justify incremental updates with a fractional pricing. Ultimately as a creative I think we need to see competition and not monopoly within the tool market place.

It’s not new. It’s been out for several years.

I'd have happily paid a couple of hundred quid to adobe to allow me to use my old CS5 on a new computer. But as my only alternative seems to be to pay £650 quid a year for cloud/AI software I don't want, it enraged me so much that was provoked into trying affinity this week. So far I have only explored Publisher. Now, having tried it, I'd choose Publisher over CS5 ID even if they were both free, you'd have to pay ME to use ID. For my needs affinity publisher is better, faster, and more intuitive (and I've been on ID since CS1). It was easier to change over than to cope with ID upgrades. Photo is next in my list to explore.
