- On February 2nd 2017 I collected pollen from a Zamoano variety and stored this pollen in the refrigerator. Five days later I use this pollen on Hylocereus costaricensis to pollinate the flower.

Healthy Dragon fruits garden, thanks for sharing :)
Very nice!!!
Thanks for sharing
My dragon fruit a lot of flowers , but there is pollen. The flower it's dry.I don't no what is the problem.
I get that when temperatures are cool, usually in the 70s.
what will happen tonthe pollen if it isn't keep refrigerated overnight? does it still work or is it still usable?
It will likely not work. Depending on your location, humidity prolongs the life of pollen, but only for a few hours.
I have 6 varieties. Is it a good idea to mix the pollens, use it, and then store it? Will it increase the chance of fertilization or do I keep them separate/use only one for all?
If i have only 1 variety for each pitaya (1 red 1 white 1 yellow) can i do this cross pollination? Could i do cross pollin from a flower of a plant to another plant flower?
Yes, That is considered cross-pollination. It may not be successful. The only way to know is to try. Most Whites and Yellows are self-fertile, so no need to cross to set fruit.
If i have 2 plant of red pitaya from the same fruit. Cross pollination of these two will work or i need another different red pitaya? Could i use white pitaya to pollinate a red one? Thanks.
@@MrKei96 That's one of the major issues of growing a plant without knowing what named variety you have. Some red flesh varieties are self-fertile, some are Self Sterile or even Self-pollinating. The answer lies on identifying what your variety is capable of.
- Has it flowered? if so, did it set fruit?
- Do you know for sure you have a Red fleshed variety?
- If flower then no fruit, have you tried hand pollinating?
Knowing the above question can better answer your question.
@@Spicyexotics I don't know the name of the red flesh or of the others, because i bought only the fruits. I'm trying to grow them so they are too young to produce flowers. I'm taking more informations as possible before that. I will try next.
Were could I buy the pollen
About how long is the shelf life of stored pollen? And do you store them in the fridge or freezer?
I store in the fridge and it lasts about 3 days. I have read others storing in the freezer can last months.
Thanks! :)
how wide is your greenhouse? 10ft or 7?
12 feet
Do those lower starts flower too ?
No, those are cuttings that have been removed from the top of the plant.
