Man NYS troopers requires 1.5 miles in just under 12 minutes. 40 situps in a minute and 33 pushups (no time limit) just straight. Training for it now and hoping to be called
Keep in mind, this is at an elevation of 7,000+ feet. For reference, at 6,000 feet, your car loses roughly 35% of it's power. Your body can adjust to an extent but any physical exertion is notably harder at altitude. I grew up here but it makes a big difference. lol When I go to sea level, the first day I tend to breathe to hard and end up getting dizzy like I am hyperventilating. After that, I feel like I can run like the wind. It's kinda weird, like you are supercharged. I guess that's why so many pro athletes train at altitude.
I lived in New Mexico for several years in the late 70's. At that point it was my 3rd state of residency. When I first saw a New Mexico State Police officer I could not believe the uniform. I thought it to be very old in appearance, something that did not make a good impression on me. Lots of the New Mexico state government as well as county governments in the state did not impress me at all. My job involved interacting with several state agencies and with a couple of counties. To say they were behind the times is the best thing I can say about them. After being there a couple of years I found out that the NMSP uniform has not changed since 1938 plus or minus a year or two. I continued to think the agency was backwards. About the time I left the old guard took some hits, I think women were suing as a result of discrimination. The settlement of the suit was not pleasant for their leadership and the court did not have good things to say about the agency. Among the courts statements was a comment about the agency being behind the times. I found out that the NMSP considers wearing this old uniform is a large source of pride and you hit a sensitive trigger when you criticize it. I think pride is great, but the uniform projects the wrong image.
Yeah, it is. It isn't a strict requirement as push-ups isn't all there is being a cop. Being able to do a crazy amount of push-ups doesn't automatically make you the greatest cop ever, nor is there a even a significant correlation between cop performance and push-ups, so the standards reflect that fittingly. Now if you were training to box or compete in something purely athletic/sport at the pro level, then obviously standards would be much higher (again fittingly so).
AnonyPersona I understand that. I wasn’t necessarily a PT stud in the academy. I just meant our standards were higher and we are city police, but I expected state police standards to be higher for some reason
@@nxtkoston Yeah, I would definitely agree with you. State police officers usually have to be completely independent. If you call for backup, expect to wait 30-45 mins as a state trooper. For city cops backup is usually always a few mins away.
Maaaaan all you gotta do is run 1.5 miles lmaooo at your own pace 😂😂 it’s not that hard. I don’t know man might be the Marine in me cause we gotta run 3 miles in under 28 minutes but still it’s not that hard 😂

At the fire department i volunteer at people sendetter all the time asking for a patch.

@@juandoe2994 lmao worst background experience I have went through. Nevada DPS was a terrible experience.
What a quality group of candidates! Best of luck to all in Academy and in your careers.
Did I hear snoring in the audio in the classroom toward the end when SGT Garcia was addressing the candidates?
ua-cam.com/video/1aVkHbFGIlE/v-deo.html
And this is what they do
These requirements are well below average. Scary.
did they say 15 push ups?
Really and what do you for a living ?
@gunluvr22 what agency are you at? I've been studying and training for the past 6 months to go into a department where I'm at. 67 a year sounds good though lol.
what agency im getting out of the navy and looking to start somewhere and theres thousands of places to apply so kinda overwelmed but if you say its a good agency id love to drop an app
@gunluvr22
Isn't this the police that shot their own undercover operative???
I don't think so that was a leutinet in the APD that didn't attend the operation order no matter these individuals are para military and must follow doctrine taking part in a operation and not attending a op order is a failure I know 21 years as a 11b and a combat tour in Iraq 03
Lmao right....thats soo true traffic cops is all they will ever be
@@blackwatch6649 Not exactly a Marksman then!!
15 push ups in a minute?! is that some kind of joke?
its nice to see them doing REAL pushups :D
He reminds me of a chad.
@@shananagans5 ah you're right completely forgot about elevation. so it may turn out to be similar if not the same in the end
Hello
Wow
hard job
I ran 11'49" for Army 2 miles test, I was only No.5 of the whole Company...
15 push ups in one minute lol that’s insanely easy
@@anonypersona3189 Many police officers would agree with you, which is why there are so many fat ones on the job now.
Ahh, the militarization of policy enforcers..
Outstanding!
I wanna join
Jesus bless you
Wheres ep 2???
Maaaaan all you gotta do is run 1.5 miles lmaooo at your own pace 😂😂 it’s not that hard. I don’t know man might be the Marine in me cause we gotta run 3 miles in under 28 minutes but still it’s not that hard 😂
Yo y’all hiring? I got an honorable discharge and my GI benefits
The Green Weenie any tips for BCT?? I currently do boxing to get myself in shape
The Green Weenie thanks for the info man
Who you no problem dude. Also if you looking into getting into a medical MOS count the Marine Corps out. We don’t have a medical related MOS
The Green Weenie ye I heard I had to go navy and become a core men if I wanted a medical style position
You know your getting a good job when they ask you if you need an ambulance.
👍
How do i acquire a patch from you guys?
You apply, go through the process and earn it by completing the 22 weeks of the academy.
You could either send the department a letter, or an email to which ever troop department is in your area and basically tell them why u want the patch. Its best if you add a picture of your collection to the letter or email so they can actually see u collect becsuee alot of people impersonate officers. At the fire department i volunteer at people sendetter all the time asking for a patch.
tj jefferson Thanks!
You can go on eBay and get all the States in a bundle for like $100.00
@@tjjefferson3410 Thanks man, im tryna collect as many patches as I can from Florida, my home state.
how do you fail a 15min 1.5 mile run lmfao what the fuck
God bless ya'll
What happened to those Black applicants

Cops are better than you. Pathetic asshat
Tyrants in training
Wtf here in Illinois you need to do 37 sit-ups in under a minute, 1.5 mile under 13.47, flexibility test and bench press 98% of your body weight. This seems a lot easier 🤣🤣
Rigoberto Sanchez my very first thought bro 🤣🤣🤣, STATE police in other states has far less strict standards than a regular city in Illinois
And they have to fail 2 parts of the pt test to get dropped out, vs Illinois you fail anything it’s over
Lol .. yeah but in Chicagoland cops make doctor salaries with a little OT.
lucas8732 lol this is true
I want to meet this Officer Vigil because my last name is Vigil and after doing an Ancestry DNA test found out I have a lot of family in the land of enchantment state. Also, I want to found out if most Vigils from New Mexico are Native American because I had no clue that I was until this test. Thank you. loved the video as well because I'm out here in California but originally from Utah trying to become a police officer as well.

That PT is a complete embarrassment and disgrace of what makes up the badge. 15 minutes for only THREE laps? Are you kidding me? If they can't make three laps in 7 minutes than they are not suited to become a police officer and don't even get me started on the 15 push up BS, like come on man only 15... I can do 35 casually in under 50 seconds. What a joke for PT. These are the type of officers to stop at a gas station mid foot pursuit but not to fuel up on gas but to get a drink of water because there winded.
You do know the 3 laps is 1.5 miles in the track that they are running...right? I would like to see you run 1.5 miles in 7 minutes. Don't write a negative comment about something that you are clueless about. Thank you and have a good day.
1.5 miles in 7 minutes? Are you high? The absolute fastest runner in my academy did it in 7:30 and he ran 15 miles a day.
Those standards are so pathetically low and you still pass people that fail an event??? Complete joke. All to ensure women get hired
Go join the outfit. Please and tell us how it went.
I'll bet you failed a process or two before huh
RDA8191 bruh shutcho ass up
This is a joke no wonder they are the way the way they are.. even more so with an ex husband as a military cop...
NM ranked one of the worst and most dangerous state LOL.
Complete fucking joke lmao. 15 push-ups in 1 minute?
