Very useful tips and instructions. I feel like even I could pull off some of those shots after watching, but, in my case, I know that's just the rush talking! 🤣
A very thorough and easy to understand tutorial. To further "sell" a shot like this, I would add a shadow catcher (in Cycles mode) where the actor's neck and/or shoulders would be, so that the helmet shadow would fall on the actor's "body" (giving the shadow catcher the same color material as the actor, for any reflections or bounce light that's recorded by the helmet mesh). While alignment of the shadow-catcher mesh may require a frame-by-frame adjustment (or possibly an animated armature if there's a lot of actor movement), a larger light source would soften the shadow, reducing the amount of work needed to keep the shadow aligned. Keeping this in mind from the outset, the original footage should be shot with softer lighting. Not exactly sure how this would work with HitFilm, though. Thanks for the tutorial.
Excellent advice to add contrast, saturation, and even some sharpening to footage before tracking! It's worth noting that this can be completely separate from color correction and grading for other purposes. (By the way, Zach does some of the clearest tutorials on UA-cam. He would also make an excellent voice actor for a scarier version of HAL 9000, and I mean that with great respect!)

Can you possibly do a Ghost rider flaming Skull effect tutorial I’ve been wanting to use my agents of shield skull for a long time but I’m having trouble
Pretty cool I must say. I usually use AFX. And hadn't heard about HitFilm. May check it out. Thanks. But why not just use the Film editor and compositing tools within Blender??
Hi, thanks for this great tutorial! One big problem for me. I followed everything perfectly, everything is precise as in your video, only big problem for me.... The head turns to the right, the mask to the left. I do not understand why. Please help me. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the video! How do you set the scene frames to specific frames in blender before tracking? I click the button thinking it will allow me to put in the start and end frame and instead nothing seems to happen.
If you have the purchased 3d pack for express. If not you can just render out the scene in blender with alpha background and a png image sequence so that only the helmet is getting rendered with the motion. Then you can import the image sequence into Hitfilm and then add the original footage in under the helmet image sequence and then adjust colors and grading as needed.
What I don't get, how is this such a massive chore to get to work in Blender etc when you have an iPhone that can do it automatically!! Isn't there any addons/apps that can do this please? I mean face track with iPhone and export data to Blender? Surely cant be that hard!
When ever i make a video in hitfilm horizontal when i go to post it it well shrink and the same when i transfer the video to my phone is their a way to fix it?
I was wondering that too. I like to have full control in Blender for everything, like shadows and realism. I don't like to stray away from Blend much, unless I really have too.
Hi, I'm going to buy a pc for learning Blender purpose. Can you help me, is this pc spec suitable for Blender? Intel i9 12gen RTX 3050 or 3060 graphic card 16GB ram Please give your advice. Thanks.
Did you buy the PC? Seems like it will handle the job well. I use 2 NVIDIA graphic cards for GPU (CUDA) processing. My AMD processor is also CUDA, but don't use that in blender with the graphics card CUDA, even though it is listed. It actually slows it down so much.
@@rhomis 20 years ago I know how to build a PC myself. At that time there's no such thing like liquid cooling, super power graphic card etc. Today I'm not confident any more to set up my own PC from scratch.

Great tutorial but halfway through you finally mention you need 8 tracking markers...that should have been said in the beginning....sheesh.

If I may ask is it compulsory to motion track ...can I just animate it according to the movement of her face
You could, but it would be very tedious.
@@FXhome okay that's true
Thanks
I wish you had made Black friday campaing for Hitfilm, this 2021 :(
Very informative and useful but one problem detected, there's no shadow cast under the character's neck, it's just an observation.
Could probably be fixed by masking the neck in Mocha and using it as a shadow catcher!
Subtitled in Portuguese! what a cool thing! \o/
Can you use fspy instead of guessing where to put the camera?

You forgot the helmets shadow on her neck and collarbone area. A simple shadow catcher could be enough to sell the impression.
Great video,
Thanks for watching!

hey camera tracking result doesn't attach orthographic camera mode how to solve that?
Where is the Black Friday Sale??

This can't be a real voice.
Yo, I thought he was doing that voice in the beginning as a gag… but nope lol
Sounds like some random alien in Rick and Morty
Is this your real voice?
Stop pinching your nose while talking
THERE IS 0 Track points showing in your method it shows nothing and it default has a camera constraint this is useless
way too fast and not explaining what each step does and why you might do it. Arrrrrgghhhh..
Agreed. Another useless "tutorial "video.
bro legit has the nerd voice
I pause the video so he can breath...
Is this guy AI? Why does he talk like that?
too many steps for 5 seconds video
Common…i have to watch the video with subtitle - I can’t listen to this voice at all. It feels not serious
