I love how honest this conversation was
Very cool guys. Happy that you touched on image usage fees. So many smaller companies don't understand the concept of more usage = higher price.
getting the client budget is absolutely the first step. nice video
Fantastic video! Loved the candor, I will have to read more of the slanted lens!
Excellent Advice - thanks!
Jay is AWESOME! :D I need to learn about that.
Thank you guys for this information.
Very good info!!!
Please do a seperate video on photo usage which is not only hard to understand but also difficult to negotiate price without understanding
This was so helpful. I've been asked to do some commercial shots for a website, and I didn't know how to set a price. very helpful. thanks guys. :)
Look at software such as PhotoQuote which will give you a baseline figure.
blinkbid is great too
Thank you
awesome
Wealth of great info on this video, Pye. Lots of more hair back then lol !!
Great video! Even though J.P Morgan cracked me up and made me wondering where is Chase.
Awesome insight Jay!
You are friggin' unbelievable. Thank you so much for your generosity in educating and sharing this information about these invaluable aspects of the business.
Thank you for doing this video!
I've shot things that were supposed to be local usage and it ended up on a Billboard in Times Square. I've shot things for a local business and the national/international vendor of the product asked to use the shot on their instagram? I need to really lock down my usage agreements this year. I think there is no such thing as local usage anymore because of the internet.
How do you deal with it when the client is forceful in asking for a quote, with an implied threat that everything is off if you don't scream a number? Especially if you still need more information?
You’re most likely the “ringer” then as mentioned in the video.
Fascinating
The vocal audio always sounds great. Do you guys have a post production process for the audio for these types of videos, i.e. Eq, level adjustments? If so, do you have a video explaining that process?

if you find your clients budget lower than your rates, what you're saying is to lower our rates?
+Ezekiel Toh Each job is different, but commercial work often involves negotiating according to a company's budget for that project. Sometimes that does necessitate lowering your rates for that particular job if it's one you want.
"Professional commercial photographers all charge differently. You might charge by the hour, by the day, by the image, by the product - or by something else entirely." [Reference: www.clippingpathindia.com/blog/2017/08/15/how-much-charge-product-photography-outsource-editing/?Social&Discussion]
Though price is the main driving factor for most of the online shoppers to make a purchase but that doesn't mean we to be quick to discount the value of product's photos. Its really expensive to hire a professional photographer. That’s why it’s important to hire the right person (the first time) so you can feel confident in your investment - and have photos that will impact your bottom line.
Annotations are now guys
8-10,000 was his low end?? 😅
that's a a normal rate in the commercial world (IF YOU FACTOR IN LICENSING)
@@Mcdowells Yeah, unfortunately I'm not getting that kind of work yet. #goals
Geez....how many of us get $50000 photo assignments?
He's Jewish, no wonder he is a natural born seller and never quote a fixed price. It's typical for Middle East - no matter where you go and ask for price, you always end with "how much it's worth for you?". :-) And you can negotiate for hours... Damn!
+BEERCOASTERSpl that's actually racist...
MorZar Since when Jews are a fucking race, you brainwashed libtard idiot!? Saying that athlete runners from Kenya have natural born ability to run fast is same racist as telling that Jews are naturally born sellers? What a moron!
Athletism is a physical attribute, so yes it is genetic....buying and selling is cultural. They grow up in a social, cultural and religious environment that predisposes them to commerce... At most you could say that Jews have a high IQ, which is inherited. being smart is essential in business so alright a part of it is a racial ttrait of the semites (Jews & Arabs included)
remeber to thank me. 2:06 vid starts...after all the rubbing
