Looking good Justin. It sounds like the PTO is still engaged. Check the cable going to the PTO and make sure it is going all the way to neutral position. It may have a broken return spring or just need a little oil and worked a few times.
Speaking of Americana...I use old engine oil and diesel on my wood. Love the truck. It reminds me of the truck my granddad had in '70. He converted a York AC compressor as an air compressor which was handy in the field to air up and run an impact wrench
From the late fifties to the early seventies Ford trucks had that flat hood, boxy look. I had a '59 flat bed 3/4 ton flat-bed with a 6-cylinder, 3-on-the-tree, worked that until the wheels fell off. I'm aware of the differences, but not so much changed over a decade. She's a beauty. P.S. This was my Mr. Kool's second shop Winter. We survived the snowpocalypse well. Leaving a shop unheated invites condensation and rust everywhere.
Justin, paint that beauty, she deserves it. Patina is a word that sellers at Mecum and Barrett Jackson use to justify the insane figures they’re asking for their rust buckets. 360s were great engines, but if you’re going to rebuild it, which I think is a great idea, find a 390 crank and give it those 30 cubes back, make it a proper FE engine. While you’re at it, add two barrels to the carb and really bring it to life. Just my opinion.
justin i worked on many parked trucks on the fuel i put a fresh line from the pump to can mix a little trans gluid and sea foam next put in after oil change put 4 qts of oil with 1 qt of trans fluid Dont use engine flush all that gunk the yrans fluid will get rid of the gunk Just watch you oil pressure gauge also take it on the freeway will break up.the slug
Very cool. Do what you want to preserve the truck and please yourself with it. My feeling is these things belong to history as much as they belong to me.
This was more entertaining than Vice Grip Garage videos. I have used transmission fluid to clean old crusty oil out of motors that I wasn't sure would run, much less need to be rebuilt, and it worked quite nicely. GREAT VIDEO JUSTIN!!!!!
Love the truck those things are work horses. They run forever because they love to burn gas lol. I had a 76 F-250 dump truck 360 with a bajillion miles on it and still ran. The awesome thing about these trucks is they are all metal inside and out. So to clean the interior all your need is a garden hose with good pressure ;) I would clean her up and paint good old Ford metallic green. If you like patina grow some moss on the hood.
Hello. It looks great. All of me say, put new colour on it, but at the same time it has a lot of history like it is now. To clean it up, fix all the things that need love and take care of it. I hope you have nice days, and are safe of the Covid. I wish you all the best, from Jan in Norway
Pretty awesome truck man. I'll be honest, i DID NOT believe, you'll get it running like that, without changing pretty much the whole engine. Just shows you how well we use to make em. I really like the patina, just needs sandblasting the rust.
The body looks pretty solid, I would go for a full paint job to spruce it up. Seems everybody and their dog is running rusty patina trucks these days and nothing looks faker to me than shiny rust.
Paint that think man! Sandblast the frame and bring it to it’s former glory! I wish I could restore one of these people no one ever seem too, but I think you should man it’d be one cool truck especially with upgrades ok the motor or a 7.3 idi turbo swap
you do what you want boss! if you want to complete restore, i'm along for the ride! if you wanna to refresh the powertrain, i'll keep up with that too! even help out if you want! stay safe friend!
Fantastic truck!! Nice brand new paint will look great! Find a beat up combine or an old school bus and take out the perkins diesel or the cat and swap it in.
Boiled linseed oil and turpentine mixture used to be used to seal wood before applying oil based paint. It is also great for tool handles and to help protect metal surfaces.
That is what I remember my dad doing to all of his trucks that had wooden beds. In the past I would have used a paint roller instead of a sprayer as I feel it does a better job of getting the stuff applied, but knowing how the stuff can spontaneously combust when on rags as it evaporates, spraying is a safer option.
Holly I can’t believe I just came across this video cruising around UA-cam. I don’t know if you remember me. I worked with at the body shop I moved there from utah for a couple months.
Keep the patina and clear it. good to see you again Justin. Thought about you and steve last week and the nasty weather you guys had. Hope all is well. Great truck and video buddy. God Bless!!
The Patina look has been done , done and done time for a full blown rebuild up and sand her down and give her a fresh paint job with a full detailed engine bay
I would love to see a newbie try and follow your instructions on troubleshooting, that would make for an awesome video, especially to see the confusion on their face!

Thanks Roger! Will do!
Sweet! New paint all the way. Give her another fifty years to develop a new patina. 😃👍🏼
Man you had me in stitches with the "spark plug gap"
Full Paint, those trucks look good with good paint.... and she’s a beauty
no patina i like that truck with a oldschool paint job i painted a 1978 ford 3 yd dump.and i painted it blue with a metallic flake paint
Love this truck. My first car ride from the hospital was in a 68 F100
It’s good to hear an old engine run seeing an old car run again Is wonderful
I’d say do a complete paint job fully restore it make it look like new
I think the "patina" finish has been over done and i really dont like the patina look. A full strip/sandblast and paint is in order please

My dad had one just like yours, I loved that truck! I called her DD (Driveshaft Destroyer). Its what my dad used to teach me how to drive stick.
Needs a complete resto! What an awesome truck ! Interior exterior full resto!
Oh my lord, a quarter way through the video and I'm rolling. Fuel tank is fine, carb has a nest, and the spark plug gap. hahaha Love this show. :)
I love your take on "Will it run?" Videos, keep them coming!

New paint job in original Ford color
This is by far the most entertaining restoration video I've ever seen

I like how you checked the spark plug gaps... the proper way with the proper tool
BACK ON THE ROAD AFTER 20 YEARS...
HELL YEAH, Built FORD tough!!!
!

New paint all day 🙌🙌🙌. Great video
Kool Truck!! New paint job!!

Full industrial implement paint, that way touch up is easy and still looks decent. Detroit locker or a Yukon locker. Love these old Bumps. Enjoy
I'm still laughing about the way that you checked the spark plug gap.
Love your sense of humor.
Nice paint job. Rebuild engine unless there are big problems. New wiring harness is a must.
Paint that think man! Sandblast the frame and bring it to it’s former glory! I wish I could restore one of these people no one ever seem too, but I think you should man it’d be one cool truck especially with upgrades ok the motor or a 7.3 idi turbo swap
The first 59 seconds cracked me up. I like the built in hole for cleaning. And I use my pipe wrench as a hammer too!
Rebuild it. Change the intake to a 4 barrel, also the camshaft too and upgrade ignition system. Go with Detroit or Yukon for a locker setup.
That is my kind of project that is a really nice rig!!!
new overall paint job. nice and shiny
COOL BEST SHOW I'VE SEEN ALL DAY, THANK'S A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you do what you want boss! if you want to complete restore, i'm along for the ride! if you wanna to refresh the powertrain, i'll keep up with that too! even help out if you want! stay safe friend!
Run it exactly like it is. No paint work needed, it’s beautiful as it is
GOOD
Great as always, loved the comedic side of things also 👍👏
Fantastic truck!! Nice brand new paint will look great! Find a beat up combine or an old school bus and take out the perkins diesel or the cat and swap it in.

Love the way it looks now
Do a rustoration. A restoration would be an endless task
Sand paper wrapped around a 3/8x2” extension.... nice
Clear it like it sits...you can't buy that look. She's earned it
Holly I can’t believe I just came across this video cruising around UA-cam. I don’t know if you remember me. I worked with at the body shop I moved there from utah for a couple months.
Sand it, stabilize the rust and give it a matte clear coat. That finish is gorgeous as is.
che meraviglia di camion! Non riverniciarlo....lascia tutto com'è con una buona protezione trasparente. Così ha un fascino unico!
Patina would look good. But to see that 69 painted nice you couldn't beat it I said go with new paint
new paint with flames, cherry bombs on duel exhaust
excellent video man love the old truck fixing
It is old and deserves to show it's age keep it's paint old and beautiful
New bed...new tires...new paint!
Love the paint, don't change a thing.
Paint it back the same original colors so it looks brand new!!😎👍
No new paint job. I love the patina. Very awesome justin.
New slick paint, it's a classic, it advertises itself. Also, don't forget to grease everything that has a zirc fitting!
No question New slick paint with aluminum wheel covers
You can just use the boiled linseed oil on the paint to keep the patina but keep it from deteriorating.
Keep it the wayIt is it looks good that way
hey Justin remember when repairing a vehicle spare parts are ALWAYS a good thing such as a bolt here an there lol
When you blew the rust out of the battery tray I put my hand over my coffee cup!
New paint for sure!
It's your truck do what you want
Keep the patina and clear it. good to see you again Justin. Thought about you and steve last week and the nasty weather you guys had. Hope all is well. Great truck and video buddy. God Bless!!
Slick new metal flake burgundy, gold stripes.. lol. Cool truck. Thinned down tranny fluid will protect wood too
A complete restoration/paintjob. It's too cool to only go halfway.
Also love the restoration humor! It is so UA-cam! 😂
Total new paint job all the way for sure. Make her shine 🐱👍
This got funnier and funnier. Half you subscribers are not going to get the gap joke. I love these old fords. Thank you.
Great video mate big hello from London uk your channel is great always a great laugh and great work thanks for sharing stay safe god bless
painted her blue a lot of fun
I remember when I came here to learn something....
Well, those days are gone!
A real paint job would look amazing!!
It already came a long way from sitting beside Rogers barn
I vote for new paint
The Patina look has been done , done and done time for a full blown rebuild up and sand her down and give her a fresh paint job with a full detailed engine bay
Dude, you're funny AF! AWESOME MAD SKILLS!!! Just subscribed.
I like patina but for this I'd say give it a good enough paintjob maybe the 50ft quality after all you still want to use it as work truck
Keep the patina....she has earned her battle scars!
Love old vehicles
Linseed on paint gives a good look
By all means. New paint job. Make her really shine. Rebuild or replace the engine. Depends on the innards? Thanks for sharing it with us.
yeah that is awesome. I have always wanted a good 60's muscle car. However I think I would like that dump more, now that I have a bit of land.
Cool Truck!!!! @20:21 Look into KBS coating. They have several valuable products for dealing with rust and sealing it. DIrect to metal clearcoats too
I so need a truck like that- with the dump.. man...
I say new paint , make a video with your knowledge of painting tips , put a brass float on the fuel sender and a fresh set of muffler bearings lol.
New paint make it look new
I would love to see a newbie try and follow your instructions on troubleshooting, that would make for an awesome video, especially to see the confusion on their face!
These newer trucks will never last as long as these old trucks have .
The right tool, is always the tool in your hand, everyone knows that.
The Smart-assery is strong with this one!
A full paint job, of course!!
Paint the truck using original colors.
Redo the interior using a kit, there should be one for this model/year.
Great looking truck!
A product named Sweet Patina after you put that logo on would seal that rust and make it all look good and vintage
I’m really enjoying this. Or it could be the beer.
Just work it. Its not a show truck but they are one heck of a good work truck.
Nice clean paint !!!
Breath deep blowing all that battery aced / rust I'm sure is great for the lungs!
