When you pour oil from a new can, turn the can sideways or even have the spout at the top, it reduces the problem of air being drawn in and making the oil 'glug' which is how you spill it ;)
Andrew Camarada replaced the pin & plate on his dozer...accidentally put the plate on upside-down...had to cut off the plate which was VERY well put on! Would love to see the earth-work done on that property :)
If you are going to be working on dozers you need to get a 6 lb sledgehammer and cut the handle to 16 inches, it's great for tight area persuasion. Have a great day.
I was thinking about you yesterday brother. I haven't seen you pop up in my feed in a while. Good to see you doing what you love. Be safe and God Bless.
I absolutely love your channel. Just saw the kayak motor video and had to subscribe. Now I'm binging your whole channel! So much skills man! You rock! I wanted to create a kayak motor with AI and self driving kayak. Your successful kayak motor build convinced me my concept will work no problem!
Wish I knew what you paid for your dozer. A man wants to sell me his Cat D3 for $4,000 but it doesn't steer either direction. It runs well but I need to drive 180 miles to go look it over good. It is also going to cost me $800 or more to get it home.
Funny I was wareing my History Reforged shirt when this popped up. Custom front bicycle rack for van still holding strong. Hope your getting use from chain hoist that I was happy to donate. Also we have some free Kittens I can deliver from Michigan. Interesting video and I know that this Dozer will have a good life. Thanks.
What Sparky said... oil pour point at the top and the can gets air, doesn't glug out. Awful small machine for most jobs but throw it in back of a flatbed truck to move. Not sure that you gained much ground cutting off the part that you did.
I am working on a restoration of a Massey Ferguson Tractor. I would like to know what type of paint you would recommend for the engine/gearbox housings. I know there are enamels, single stage urethanes etc... what would work best for a DIY spray job in a home garage.
Both are good choices, just make sure to checkout reviews on the actual product you use. Some never get hard and require a bit more hardener or catalyst than recommended. Single stage of any kind is notorious for massive amounts of overspray so build a cheap plastic sheeting booth to spray in. Buy a cheap harbor freight hvlp gun and watch a UA-cam video on setting up the proper spray pattern. Single stage tends to be thick so you should be fine with a 1.8 spray nozzle gut you will have to move quickly as it puts out alot more material than a 1.4. If you want to take your time get the 1.4 tip and if the paint it to thick you can reduce it. Keep in mind that if you reduce the paint it will take longer to dry (flash). Spray light overlaping coats and let the previous coat become tacky before you spray the next. If you run the paint do not try to fix it. Let it dry and sand it smooth after the fact then spray that area again. I will have a video out soon on the entire process.
You know you can sharpen those disk by cutting them in a smaller circle I had a few backing disks different sizes . Your weld could also be from the shielding gas blowing away or not enough pressure .
Watch as andrew camarata replaces the starter using a chainsaw and an excavator and it gets smashed for no reason. Then he spends $10,000 on a new attachment for his skid steer and $30,000 on another piece of equipment and it gets smashed for no reason as he tows it up the side of a mountain through a mud river. That's a beautiful dozer.
If it’s using tranny fluid check and see if it’s causing your oil level to go up. On 977’s There’s a hydraulic pump O ring that engine oil touches. It’s a problem someone else is going through on their channel.
If you are going to do much of the "gas axe" removal it would make sense to invest in a couple of scarfing tips. It saves a lot of time and destruction of parts.
When you're done greasing the zerts, don't forget to grease the zerks - they are small nipple-like fittings you put the grease gun over and inject grease into the desired location.
I'm assuming your talking about the blade. Simple answer is I'm a total noob when it comes to operating a dozer. What you are seeing is actually my very first time pushing a pile.what I have learned over the past few months of running her is that there is a much steeper learning curve to a dozer as opposed to most other equipment. I have a new found respect for dozer operators. It's a smaller unit which makes it more difficult to grade a nice smooth surface. I find myself relying on my kubota svl97 for the majority of the finish work. I have to force myself to use the dozer because the skid steer is so good at what it does.
Don't you feel conned by Cat? Another sleeve and a pin made by you or a local machine shop would have saved the cutting and welding just to have a bottom entry pin !
Actually could have made it myself in the shop but with heavy equipment it's Actually cheaper for me to just purchase the part. It cost me a few thousand dollars every day I'm in the shop and not on the job. I had to learn this the hard way. It's tough for me because I have the skills, the tools and the desire to do it all, just not the time. Same goes for the machine. Had to be repaired in one day, no time for the machine shop. Cat knows this and makes a killing with their service trucks. Most other manufacturers haven't quite caught up.Hope that helps.
I guess a better way to put it would be" They are designed to push not pull. They can pull and back drag but it can cause damage easier than pushing" its rare and in this case whoever had this unit literally ripped the blade off doing it wrong. Hope that helps, I don't always say what I mean in the video and I'm to lazy to re shoot 😅
i dont know about heavy equipment ...but i would say that this machine is not that bad at all actually you could use the way it came....but fixing those little things is better for a longer life...but not bad at all
When selling features trump the longevity engineers all the greaese fittings get left off.

Love watching the service on equipment, and using the equipment afterwards. Also it's been a bit between videos, and I'm glad to see you post more up!
Not sure if you ever heard but new invention is a funnel to put fluids in tight spots
Bring it all on. Love to see as much as posible. Good to see you back again
I had been wondering where you had been. Good to see posting again!! Great Mr. Cox as well!!

Your getting all the good play toys. One day I will have to come check everything out. More videos on any and everything going on.
Andrew Camarata reference SOLID!!!!
Those end bits are put on over the cutting edge with longer bolts not welded on.
We need to see more from you, starting to clear my own land any tips you can share thanks for sharing
As much as I like grease zerks, you may have to do things a bit old school and keep an oiler can to oil them joints.
Great video. I would love to see all of the work you do.

That's a great deal! I paid way more than that!

Glad to hear!
Hell yeah brother it’s a cat ofc it will work perfect gotta love a caterpillar
No need for paint in my opinion! Has that 90's look to it, just clean her up and new decals! Still looks good
Yes the ends of the blades bolt on.
Nice dozer, would really like to see more!

Great video, really liked the large scale wrenching on the REALLY big boys toy.
That funnel is something else
Nice find. they are very handy in certain areas. nice job

You bet!

Question, why doesn’t cat have zerks and grease passages in those pins? Seems reasonable, but maybe there is a reason that escapes me. Great video.
I would think they should have some on the soil pins at the minimum. I guess it works fine but call me old fashioned, I want grease
Great video, hope all is well.
Good video, glad to see another video from you.
Do y"all have any plans for another Good Of The Land Fest?
Possibly next year. I will announce the info soon!
Great video. Like the equipment rebuild content.
Our D-3 is powershift with foot steer
Beautiful, just do not go cheap on the repairs, it will come back and bite you on the @$$, HARD.
Best wishes from the far North.

Andrew's shop might be a bit of a hike for you
Nice work on the machine. Why did you work with it then fix it.
I want one! Lol! Great find. I would have done the same. Thanks for sharing.

Plasma cutter would make smoother surface too weld back on!!
metal cost less in the 80's probably, i notice a lot of old machines built weirdly from way back in the day
I never use a winch-- said everybody until they need one!!
You need to get a block jnder thar blade!
Yes would like to see more of these videos about the land. On a side note what ever happened to the putting eclectic motors for your kayaks?
I will be back on the kayak build soon
Great video. Thanks
All it needs some TLC it would be a great little dozer for you
Nice dozer,👍👍👍
Why didn't you just have a pin made ?
how big is your shop
30x40
Nice dozer
Thank you!
Not enough video showing the fixing.
Can I take it for a joyride ??? I need to bring my atv to visit you those dirt piles are too tempting lol
Come on over! Let's build a track!

Is it a crazy American thing to weld cutting edges on 😂
No it should have been bolted
Needed an excuse to demonstrate his welding skills.
Those pads show more than 3500 hrs wear
I’ve never seen that bushing fix by tapping on it like that. Great trick!
Thanks brother, happy to help!
What the heck Justin ,I thought you had died or something . It's been nearly a year since I've seen any videos from you. What happened?
good video tho
why dont u lay it down flat would be much easyer?

You got it like that?! You in good with Andrew Camarata? That would be awesome to see you guys collaborate.
I know a ton of others UA-cam creators but not Andrew. Just a fan of his channel.
Grease zerk. Not zert.
That one really seems to get people. You should here me say Hyundai!😆

did this dude just say dozers aren’t made to back drag 😂

yea but you are a good one for getting a manual in a dozer
Kill dozer part 2. If you need a good welder I know a guy.
