Great video, but some things to consider here:
#1 - add grease between the metal clips and caliper (contact point)
#2- don’t grease that edge of the pad (not a contact point)
#3 - grease goes between the back of the pad and the flat clip.. not outside the flat clip. Notice how he cleans #2 & #3
#4 - the attached spring clip from the pad does not latch onto the caliper. It goes on the outside and should push the pad out a bit from the bottom.
    5# torque to 20lbs
    Be safe !

    Wouldn’t blue loctite be better??

You don't need to put red locktite on any bolt to do with brake calipers and you certainly don't need to bleed the brakes after pad installation like what🤣

Didn’t say you had the bleed the brakes with a pad change, just showing how it’s done. At 100k miles, it was long overdue on this car.
I strongly encourage using locktite though. Factory recommendation and I’ve had Subaru caliper bolts fall out before.

Blue loctite would be better for this though. Especially if you would ever need to do the pads again in the future (which someone will). Red is too strong and usually meant to stay permanently.

The retaining spring clip on the bottom of the brake pad, does that go on the inside of the bracket or do you pull the tab out and have it rest on the outside of the bracket? Im having a hell of a time getting my pads to sit properly but Ive seen in the impreza forum that the spring clip rests on the outside of the bracket on the metal tab. I would think itd be easier leaving it on the inside but my stock pads have the spring clip on the outside

Did you use OEM pads? What are the part numbers?

Bedding the brakes? Wtf are you talking about?

    • @MyNameIdeasWereTaken

Whenever new pads and/or rotors are installed, you need to complete a "bedding" process to get the brakes hot enough that there is a pad material transfer between the pads and the rotors. This optimizes braking performance and ensures that the pads are made smooth with the rotor surface. To do this, you essentially brake hard from 30mph-10mph (without activating ABS) 5 times in a row. Then repeat this process from 60mph-10mph 5 more times. For racing pads, you'll need to repeat this process from track speeds as well. The brakes will get very hot during this and you may experience brake fade. Do it somewhere straight and safe, and be certain not to sit stopped with your foot on the brakes while they are hot or you could fuse the pads to the rotors.

20ft lbs on caliper bolts I'm finding in my guide from O'Reilly auto where I work. Getting ready to replace mine in a couple days. Doesn't seem to be a very hard project to do from a home garage...
