Why does your video make it look so much easier than it really is? Lol All in all not that bad of a job.. glad Honda was so generous with the room and my arm is rubbed raw 😂 Leaving the AC for the last part is KEY.
For anyone else doing this from the top, a long stick with a hook at the end, or something similar, helps a bunch with getting the new belt around the crankshaft and AC pulleys.
I bought mine certified pre owned 2016 with 45k miles now I’m at 125k. Should I wait until I hear squeeling or just replace. Do I need to disconnect my battery?
If the ribs are cracked I would replace it. As long as no one is going to jump in the car and start it while you are working on it there is no need to disconnect the battery. Every manual will say other wise though..its your choice
Hi JJ, is it easy to mount the new belt on the crankshaft pulley and a/c supply from the engine bay itself or do I need to remove the front driver side wheel and the cover for easy access ?? Will be doing it for the first time so want to make sure I don't get stuck .
I was able to do it from the top, without removing the wheel well shield. I just removed the coolant resovore. Hardest part is getting enough leverage on the belt tensioner.
You might have a squeaky pulley. While it is running. Spray a little wd 40 on each pully. When the squeek goes away or changes thats your issue. Try not to get it on your belt. Not a huge deal if you do.
@@jjsdiygarage1267 i was just wondering, because it didnt seem like the squeak was coming from the "belt" area necessarily. and do you happen to know which is the most common pulley that goes bad compared to others? i ordered a belt. im going to see if that works, but ill check the pulleys once i remove the belt like mentioned on the vid !

@@jjsdiygarage1267 sounds like the cam chain tensioner for 15-16 crv that people complain about lol. its annoying. only happens during cold starts usually in the morning. was just curious if youre having that issue as well. do you know if your cam tensioner has been replaced?
Hi JJ, Any plans on making video of rear back up sensor installation on 2015 crv ?? There are some you tube videos on how to remove rear bumpers on 2012 -16 CRV but nothing specific to installing rear back up sensors. Is this something of a project that you might undertake??
Your car has electric power steering. It was installed inside the steering wheel. It is an electric motor about 10 amps. to assist you when you steer your car.
@@jkkennedy8919 it's an electric rack and pinion. So the entire unit is going to be very expensive. And then I probably has to be calibrated which requires a specific scan tool... I had a squirl or rabbit chew the wire by the connection once that made it fail. It being electric is a curse and a blessing in that it shouldn't just stop working. I would take a look at the connections and wires under the car.
Great video. It was immensely helpful to someone who doesn't regularly work on cars. I successfully replaced my serpentine belt!
Glad it helped

Thank you. Just did this on my 2008 Honda Fit, and it seems very similar for my 2016 CRV. Much appreciated.
Thanks for sharing. Very helpful.
Excelente tutorial. Thank you for this informative video!!!

If the squeak doesn’t go away after replacing the serp belt, what do you think the cause may be ? 2015 crv ex

@Michael Diaz more than likely it's the belt or the tensioner.

have you had any issues with cold rattle during start up?? people are saying its the cam chain tensioner. what do you think?
Luckily...I have not had any issues with the engine at 150k. What kind of rattle? Metallic or plastic?

I am not planning on it as my CRV has a back up camera with distance lines in it.
Thanks man!

That's what I figured. Never thought about it. I think its my first car without a belt driven steering pump
How much would it cost to fix when it goes out

the part costs about 200-400 brand new OEM and the labor is about that much.
What's the belt specs.
Part number changes by brand that you choose. If that's what you mean.
