the musty smell comes from usage (leaving lotion, sweat, skin celks, etc., at a micro level) let it sit and the smell becomes more aware... sometimes the older the bigger the smell. Using it helps... but you need to properly clean it (look for DIYs covering damp cloth to vodka cleanings) and condition your leather bags. Don't know how?... check with your local shoe or boot repair shops. Hope this helps.
Fresh air and lots of usage seems to work wonders! I bought a vintage keepall and managed to get rid of most of the odor by leaving dryer sheets in it over many nights. plus leaving coffee beans (wrapped in kitchen towels) inside. Great vid as always :) xx
I used a product called OdoBan. I took a white wash cloth, sprayed OdoBan on the cloth and dampened the cloth. Then I wiped down the inside of my bag thoroughly. I put dryer sheets in and left it open a couple of hours. The odor was faint. I repeated this a couple of days later, the smell was just about gone. I did again one more time and it was gone. I also used the bag.
Hi What I do is make sachets or pockets filled with baking soda and leave in the bag for a week or so or more even. I do the same with old clothe too. The BS absorbs the odor and you can a few drops of you favorite essential oil to the baking soda if you want. Voila! It works.😄
@@kashafzahid585 Hiya, yes it does! When I buy vintage / secondhand clothes and coats I now put them in a vacuum bag, add the sachet or pouch then suck out the air and then after a week or so I take them to the drycleaners. My vintage Trousse 28 had a mildew like smell. I tried wiping it down with baby wipes, didn’t work, then a towel soaked with scented washing detergent, didn’t work... spraying perfume, didn’t work... stuffed it with dryer sheets, didn’t work and finally I used a Q-tip soaked in lemon oil on the zipper fabric and I rubbed the vinyl with the lemon oil and sat it on the window seal with the window open for a week and finally the smell is gone! I'm a seller and buyer on Poshmark. I have had too many experiences purchasing strong musty items! I mean STRONG musty stuff. How the sellers don't know is beyond me! I tried everything to make these usable for myself, but ended up throwing them away as not to contaminate my clean stuff. I don't like perfume and that's a whole nother issue, or items sold that are febreezed beyond help. I recently purchased a Vera Bradley garment bag that smelled musty to the point of a headache. I have washed it 3 times in white vinegar, now I will try bagging it up in active charcoal. As a seller I would never do this to buyers. It's dishonest.
I just bought a bag off of Poshmark. The seller doused it in what smells like Estée Lauder perfume from an 80’s sampler gift. I’m super pissed off. She was obviously trying to mask the STRONG mildew smell. I’ve washed the bag in various different ways several times and the perfume smell is still there. Ozium spray on the liner helped a lot though. Thankfully, I love a challenge and will get the smells out if it’s the last thing I do. I just wish the seller would have been honest. It’s really nasty. Personally I would be too scared to get the bag wet but those Sila packets that come with shoes and things like that are great at absorbing smells. If it’s a larger bag you can take a box of baking soda( just like the one in the back of the fridge) and place the entire box inside the bag and close the bag and put the bag inside a garbage bag for a day or so.
I know what you mean by the smell! Get an open box of baking powder and just open your bag over the box and just have it there for a week! If you get another one that’s smelly!
I had/have the same issue with a Chanel Maxi that I purchased recently. When I got it it had such a strong mildewy smell... I haven’t used it THAT much because of the coronavirus pandemic... but I did decide to let it “hang out” in my room and not store it when it’s not in use. Even though the smell was a bit pungent I used it. I used it to the grocery maybe 3 times lol

The Bag Whiz thank you ☺️ that was the one I’d initially planned lol UA-cam threw me for a loop with the other one 😂
I have a vintage coach court bag I bought off of eBay. Smells of moth balls. Do you think I could put it in the washer on delicate?
It doesn’t have the big middle agitator , should be ok?
Try putting dryer sheets in it and leave them in for a week. Helped with my LV alma and I'm using on a vintage gucci I just bought
@@blankspace5185 thanks for replying. I did that with the dryer sheets, sat it under a calling fan, hung it outside when I could. After a week smell completely gone. I’m so happy. I’m actually shocked because the smell was so strong. I left the dryer sheets (one in main compartment, front and back slip pockets) and stuffed main compartment. I’m all set now.
It may takes time to take thr smell away when you used it all time 😂 another bag, my niece threw in the washing machine, it worked hahhahaa
Baking Soda: You probably could have used an airtight container and put some baking soda in there for a few days.
How do I use the baking soda for the bag?
Put some coffee grinds in a ziploc and place inside opened. Throw the coffee grinds away when the smell goes away. This video should've been titled what not to do to remove odors 😂😂😂
02:38 loll
Oliver Twist bwahahaha 😂😂😂 🤦🏾♀️ I was really shocked huh 🤣
Brittany Good I thought the same 😂😂 I’m glad the odor is almost gone ;)
