  • If you’re on the fence with kale, then try this healthy, leafy green in an easy kale soup recipe. Kale is a vegetable that folks either love or hate because of its texture, but kale’s robust texture makes it extremely versatile for many recipes, and using kale in a vegetable soup is a simple way to tame the texture.

    I just went to pick up some cheap but healthy food for the weekend with no plan in mind, sat back down to check out the UA-cams and saw this video just dropped in my subscriptions. I actually accidentally bought ingredients for this soup, minus the fresh chicken stock but I'll come up with something :D

    • @ChefBuckRecipes

      any stock will do...and you won't even need added stock if you make the dish a bit in advance and the soup has time to sit a while ...thanks for watching the vid!

    The bagged kale I s a good choice for soup as the bags are loaded up with stalks. Lots of nutrition in the stalks but too chewy unless they’re cooked down or thrown in the blender in a smoothie. I buy the organic bagged kale at Aldi and put it on the freezer as soon as I get home. I use it in soups and smoothies. I like your recipe and will give it a go next week! Thanks for another great video!👍👍😍😍

      very true...I don't usually buy the bagged kale, but it did seem overly stalky...perfect for soup, but probably not the best choice for a kale salad

    I made this soup yesterday and it was super yummy. Today I heated up the left overs and added garbanzo beans and topped it with grated pecorino romano cheese. It was even better. Keep-on-truckin.

    Kale is an aggressive green.
    That's the most accurate statement I have heard today.
    But I really do love kale soups. Kale and potatoes or kale and lentils and now I have this delicious recipe to try. I think I'll try it this next weekend.

      it's a great green for soup, and I prefer the stalk cooked anyway...often when I use kale greens for a salad, I'll reserve the stalk and then just sneak the stalk into other dishes where I'm sautéing ingredients in a skillet...with a soup I can just cook the greens and stalk together and not think about it...and it's extra nice in cooler weather

    Kitty was very cute, between the "blurring out emojis". LOL. My husband loves our kale so much that he just picks it, washes it, and eats it raw. Sometimes there is enough that I can have some, too. It is SOOO good homegrown!! Sadly because of that, I will never have enough to make a soup or anything else with. lol. I told him we need to plant a LOT more. Thanks Chef Buck and Camera Girl. Great recipe that I hope to one day be able to make. lol :)

      I like raw kale in salads, but the stems are a little too chewy for me, so I generally set them aside for cooked recipes....is kale easy to grow?

    • @kimlalajo
      @kimlalajo 2 роки тому +1

      @@ChefBuckRecipes Oh yes! Very easy. We have some in hanging pots, as well as in our veggie garden. We are in Southeast Texas, if you're wondering about climate. Kale holds up really well in cold weather, so we don't have to worry when it dips into freezing temps. We grow 2 types, the grocery store variety, which is called Dwarf Siberian, and Blue Scotch variety. The Dwarf one holds up better against bugs. Both are sweet tasting and delicious! :)

    Looks really delicious but I read cooking vegetables at a temperature over 118 zaps the nutritional value out of it. The fact that you cooked this more than 30 mins after boiling tells me the nutrition is gone. What do you think? I try to eat veggies raw most times. I juice them and put them in smoothies. I do roast them too and make your Mexican kale, corn and black bean recipe. It's so good. Looks like I'll be adding this to my recipe collection too. Hard to eat raw only

    • @ChefBuckRecipes
      @ChefBuckRecipes  2 роки тому +2

      I wish I ate more raw veggies, but I enjoy cooking too much! Sometimes I'll go on benders where I'm eating lots of raw ingredients, but it never seems to last long enough to trigger a major change in my diet. I know when I'm cooking veggies I'm not taking full advantage of the potential nutritional benefits, but I'm also not eating a donut or a hamburger at that moment (I have plenty of those moments), so I consider it a step in a better direction...or at least a more balanced direction.
