The Lodge Guys have probably saved so many people from making that rental mistake. Thank you for telling this, I for one would not have thought about this.
We are enjoying your travels through Virginia on the Blue Ridge Pkwy......we lived in Lynchburg, Virginia many years ago.....right along the James River.. ..beautiful area.....Enjoy!!
Love the state of Virginia. We have driven down the parkway, so many lovely views and little towns. When we went way back in 1994 and 2000 we never had the Internet to look for hotels you ordered hotel directories for each hotel change and pick from them .
Hi I'm new to your channel, been binge watching hour vlogs. Love you two. What a road trip !! You guys are so informative. I'm off onto the Anthem of the seas at the end of may. Also watched your vlogs on what to do in La Rochelle. Were going tk try and do similar to what you did. Glad I've subscribed Regards Therese x
the best time to drive the blue ridge parkway is in the fall when all the trees are ablaze with color - oranges, reds, yellows - but of course you have to deal with the massive crowds
What an adventure especially with the cars. Im an impatient traveller so I think I would have just headed straight for the hotel and just enjoyed the scenery from the car
Hiya, Great video, You seemed so calm about the car mix ups , tho would have loved to have seen the live reactions 🤣 I would have panicked in the electric car knowing I had to drive back . The blue ridge parks look lovely and peaceful and a nice watch for me . Wow those micro meals did cost a lot 😳 hope they where enjoyable. Stay in the moments Stay blessed . Sending hugs 🤗
The trees with the white blossoms are Bradford pear trees. They are gorgeous but when they drop those flowers it looks like snowfall, they stick to just about everything when it is wet.😊
We have roundabouts in Alaska. I avoid them as all the locals have no idea how to drive around them, cars coming at you from all directions, cars stopping on the circle, people driving around multiple times as they are confused......nightmare!!!!!
Omg thanks Nick and Leigh we have been going to Florida for years and just go to the row we are told. We fly next week so we will double check before we get going. We take our cooler bag on holiday so we can take frozen food to villa and if we are going on a trip we just put ice in it just in case we get stuck in traffic. Next time take a big bin bag to open and place inside the box should it split you still have your ice or purchase a cool bag and take it with you doesn’t take much space in case❤️
I just got to the part where the cooler split. As you were getting it in Walmart, I was yelling at the phone,'no, don't get one of those.' The same thing happened to me. The 1st time that I touched it, it broke into pieces. Why didn't you hear me when I was yelling, no? Haha.
Loving the videos as always, and great to see some new destinations! Marriott (Bonvoy) points are a great way to earn free stays but I’d caution against buying them to pay for a room. Using your hotel as an example, the rate displayed on the back of the hotel door is a licensing requirement to display the maximum rate the hotel can charge and is rarely, if ever, representative of regularly charged rates. The actual room rate charged averages $176 per night including tax and varies from $144 to $209. A Bonvoy point is worth around 0.06p / 0.08c. The hotel charges 23,500 to 28,000 points per night which values them at anything from $188 to $224. If you bought the points (even assuming a 40%bonus) it would cost at least $225. More than it would cost to pay in cash. Lastly, when you pay for a room in cash, you will earn points so you’d effectively get back anything from $14 to $18. (more if you hold any bonvoy status) which, in this case further strengthens the case against buying points. Hope that’s helpful. Looking forward to the next Vlog!
@@garyw1594 that seems to be roughly the prevailing rate. Not so important if you have them just sitting there but generally it’s about $50 more expensive to use/buy points. Equally, there are times when it really makes sense to use points. As a personal example, the Westin Palm Springs was 188,000 points for 5 nights, worth $1500. The room rate was $440 per night, or $2200 for the stay. Even with the points worth @$210 I’d have earned it still didn’t add up to pay cash
If you get chance to stay at the Springhill Suites across from SeaWorld, the rooms are the same, and they give you a free fast pass into the park . It was our goto place when we used to visit Orlando
I can’t tell if you ever figured out how to pronounce Roanoke. It sounds like “Rowan-oak.” The views on the Blue Ridge Parkway are spectacular - it’s too bad you ended up having to be rushed because of the car problems.
Oh lordy what a start to the day. But you ended up with a nice big SUV. And we did get a view of the Pentagon on the way to the airport in the Lyft. How lovely and peaceful each time you stopped in the BlueRidge Parkway. Every time I hear the words Blue Ridge I can’t help but think of Laurel and Hardy singing the song. ua-cam.com/video/ZAfjgTc-t0U/v-deo.html. Always good for a chuckle. Thanks for sharing guys.

Hey Nick & Leigh, the Blue Ridge Parkway looks stunning. Quiet & Serene. Beautiful hotel room. Enjoy. x
Probably looks a whole lot better when the sun's out too

So cool how the mountains really do look blue when the sun was going down!
They looked so good

I really enjoyed watching you travel through my home state. I went to college near Roanoke. Crabtree Falls was a frequent destination of mine.
Lovely place to live
Wow, you guys find the best places to visit! The triangle wooden thing is a wood horse I think. You'd use it to cut logs.
👍
Another great vlog. Glad you finally got your car sorted (3rd time lucky) 😊 but looks very comfy for the roadtrip ❤stay safe xx

I did the southern end of the Blue Ridge in 2019. So beautiful. Can’t wait to see all the sites I missed on your trip!
What stunning scenery after a stressful start 😮 Leigh made me smile at the end of your vlog sorting out his microwave meal! x
Thanks Steph
Beautiful scenery, thanks for taking us along ❤ xx
Watching on a bench at pop century beautiful scenery but also so funny ❤😂
What an adventure especially with the cars. Im an impatient traveller so I think I would have just headed straight for the hotel and just enjoyed the scenery from the car
It was so frustrating to have to go back and swap the car but we didn't really have any choice so just had to get on with it
Beautiful scenery. When you were at the lookout it really shows how vast America is. Gorgeous
Thanks Helga, it really was a lovely place
What a nightmare with the car! Gr8 views

There were a few swear words but tbh we just ended up getting on with it. Nothing else we could do 😂
Sorry, but I cracked up laughing at your misadventures, especially with the cooler. Oh my goodness!
lol, wasnt a great day for us that lol
👍 loved the vlog guys xx

Our car gets covered in them at the apartment

Good tip about the bag inside the box

👌You guys made in to my home State of Virginia!! Have a great Trip !!
Thank you
I love visiting Renonack! 😂😂😂
lol
In New England we call roundabouts a "rotary"
Absolutely stunning but l would of been worried about the wildlife like bears lol ❤
Hi Nick where do you buy the Bonvoy points?
Marriot website or bonvoy app it's not particularly efficient but I just needed a top up to have enough to use my existing points X
Ugghhh. You ended up with a gas guzzler….the SUV no good on petrol I’m afraid…Safe journeys…
It seemed to do pretty well tbh, we were surprised
34mpg
Loved this but cant wait for the orlando vlogs 🎉 especially cos we have just booked for march 24 and the price was amazing 😊
Graet stuff that you got a good price. Lots of Orlando videos coming soon
Loving the videos as always, and great to see some new destinations!

We stayed in that same place last week. I think it was about $180 plus aaa discount.

You never gave us any free passes when we stayed at yours. Maybe something to think about for next time
Hi. I’ll be driving the blue ridge trail (the other way) next year. Is any of it scary/side of mountain type thing?? 😱
No we didn't notice anything feeling scary
@@TheLodgeGuys phew!!! Thank you 😘
Good luck finding a charging station they are few and far between 😅
Thats why we took the car back, felt we couldnt risk it
What a bumpy start!🥹 Loving your travel blogs! ❤
Rotary is what we call them
I hate traffic circles. I call them “circles of death” 😱😮💀
Lol
I can’t tell if you ever figured out how to pronounce Roanoke. It sounds like “Rowan-oak.” The views on the Blue Ridge Parkway are spectacular - it’s too bad you ended up having to be rushed because of the car problems.
We call them round-about’s as well
Your vehicle is a GMC not a Chrysler. GMC - General Motors Company.
👍
well that's pretty much what's expected to happen to a 5 dollar styrofoam cooler from walmart
We have used them in the past and they have lasted the whole trip but tbf we have never had to move them to a different car
your white rental is a Chevy not a Chrysler. Chrysler in the US only makes a car and a minivan in the US...
If you collect a hire car and there is no rev counter, chances are it's a pure electric car.
in hindsight we should have realised but we just got on with it without thinking. Presumed the electric cars would be in another bay

I know the song from laurel and hardy too. I used to watch them all thr time with my dad. Leigh
Hope the rest of your road trip goes without incident. In fairness how could you get in bad form with such lovely calming scenery. It looks amazing ❤
I’m full of a cold
Hope you are better now 💛
@@TheLodgeGuys I’m better now thanks
ROW AN OAK is how it's said
lol, thanks
you guys try to do too much everyday. See Things dont just see things
Its how our minds are programmed. We love getting as much out of every day as we can
