I'm not living at uni this year; I'm commuting. I found my laptop extremely helpful in first year as I was always in my room when I didn't have lessons so I could easily access the lecture notes and other things on the portal. This year, I'll have a tablet since I won't have access to my laptop between lessons, which will do the same job, as peering at lecture notes on a phone is inconvenient and annoying. I study maths if that's of any relevance.
In 2016 I bought an HP notebook for €400 (it was on sale) and I LOVE it. I've been using it a lot bc I'm working on my bachelor thesis, and since I am an art school student I have to use programs like photoshop sometimes. aaand... I dropped the notebook from an height of 2.5 meters (don't ask me how, I'm just an idiot), on a fucking concrete floor, but it hasn't a single scar. I was very impressed lol

I've dropped and overworked my HP so much during uni. A year later and I've never had an issue with it and it's not even scratched/worn (legit forgot it was on my bed, pulled at my covers, and flung it off my bed. all that happened was the battery fell out, put it back in and it was perfect). used a MacBook during film studies at A-level and hate them tbh

You can get a hp printer with instant ink for around £30 and then pay £3-ish per month for 100 pages
How? My ink costs £30 for just ink on amazon 😭😭

Ive saved up my money and I’ve bought an iPad Pro and got GoodNotes and its like a digital notebook to do all my work on so I can go paper free, and i can download past papers and do them on my iPad so I’m not printing off loads of paper and its keeping me very productive

I really want a apple MacBook Air but I’m thinking about getting a 2014 for a bit over £300. As I am not prepared to spend the money on a new MacBook ! I want it light and to last until the end of a levels ( I’m in year 12) - I may get a Lenova laptop as it bends over so is convenient 🤦♀️

Naz Begum what are you doing/ studying?! For example MacBooks/ apple are mostly made for designers... so if you are doing something creative... art/ film/ music! If you’re just going to be writing essays then go for a PC! Hope that helps a little :)

Get a macbook. PC'S break so easily. Wasted my money because I ended up buying a macbook half way through second year due to breakage..
Macbook is initially more expensive but it will never crash as much as a Windows laptop and will last 10+ years imo. I have had the 2015 mac pro throughout my degree and it still looks new.

I’m studying law , which envolves a lot of essays and writing and I was wondering what type of laptop to get ?
I’ve got an HP laptop and a bit of a warning if it’s one with a plastic shell: the metal internal part of the hinge doesn’t go very far into the lid and when you’re constantly opening and closing the laptop you’re putting a lot of pressure on the plastic around the hinge. Mine snapped and now the screen is on one hinge and is basically gonna die very shortly

not to take away from your hp promo but i bought an acer swift 3 for uni and i would really recommend them (i5 or i7 processor), they're so nice for the price and make sure you shop around for the cheapest deal!!

Katie Roberts I wouldn’t recommend Apple for for laptops or iMac (you’re not really gonna break that). But for your phone or headphones that makes sense.

I think with technology, it’s about buying something appropriate for you.
If you’re not going to be using that 16GB RAM, if you don’t need that latest processor, don’t get it. It’s useless to fork out the money if you’re not going to use it.
For me, I have HP laptop, I5 latest, 8GB, 256 SSD, in 13.3 inch touchscreen and 360.
At that price range, I could’ve bought a MacBook but I chose not to because I knew that the touchscreen would be invaluable for me.
And so far, having had it a couple of months, I absolutely like be it.
I only use it for light photo editing and mainly internet browsing and using Microsoft. It’s light and portable and I can draw on it, and as a bio and economics student 👌👌
But anyway!!
Do not waste your money! Do your research before scanning that card!
On the Mac use Command + Shift + 4 and you can actually cut out whatever you want to screenshot. :)

Lenovo is really good quality and that is a pretty good deal as far as the price goes. it should work well for you for quite a while, especially if you don't use drawing/illustration programs or video editing software too much :)

If anyone's getting a printer i beg you get hp instant ink! Its like a subscription thats ridiculously cheap for ink! Legit like £1.99 for 50 pages and they let your pages roll over next month if you dont finish it

ASUS makes quality laptops. They used to make motherboards for apple and other companies so that says a lot about their products.
I personally vouch for Lenovo (mine’s a few years old and it’s still great) but what I would recommend is that you get a small laptop!! Mine is like 15” and it’s so annoying to carry and I can’t fit much else on the desk in our lecture theatres 😂 Asus are also said to be very good and you can get small laptops which are great for commuting to campus!
