A good parent encourages what their kid likes and enjoys, not supresses it and goes no you gotta play with this, and you gotta be interested in this! His parents probably thought well that's odd, but it shows our son is creative and imaginitive and that's a good thing. He's not a boring generic kid.

Just for the record, I'm 65yo and still rockin' a mustache I've had since about 1973 when I was 14. ventriloquism was super popular in the 60s to 70's thanks to a little show called ed sulliven show. lots if kids saw the dummy actor arthor worsley on it and there was a small boom, it wasn't until the 90's with chucky that dolls were seen as creepy some of the older dolls we kids best friends at the time.
I had a Danny O'Day doll and learned how to do this at the age of 6. This led to my interest in doing Magic, then that led to my current profession... Film.

For most people such degrees in arts and science are considered just a general range education similar to high school where you learn a little of everything. There are certain degrees where you aren't focusing on one area or another but just take a general range of classes like high school, where you take classes in math, science, english, history, and so on.

He kept saying no, then on the very last day the band teacher was practically begging for a few more kids to join. He felt bad for her and said "What do you need someone to play?" She said "Trombone would be great, need a couple of them." He sighed and said "Okay, I'll do it if it's provided since I haven't asked my folks. Don't think they'd want a surprise bill for an instrument." He said she literally jumped up and down and thanked him. Gave him the trombone case to bring home. My mother was picking him up from school that day. I get a call at work. "J joined band, did you know that?" I said "No but we did try to talk him into it. Do we need to buy an instrument?" Mom said "No, they issued him one from the school because they needed that one. The case is taller than he is!" (he was quite short then, hadn't hit his growth spurt yet) I thought Jesus did they stick my little tiny 11 year old with a tuba and then she said it was the trombone so I was at least a little relieved. It took him another year maybe two before he was taller than the case but he became first chair and played until senior year. He dropped band because he wanted to focus on some other classes at the local community college he could take to get a few early college credits. We went to a lot of football games, music competitions and parades.

We moved his junior year and they had no dress code - he had a full grown beard & mustache and first day the other kids thought he was a teacher. One of the kids said “no, he’s a student.” The other kid said “HOW MANY GRADES DID HE FAIL?!?!” LOL 🤣

I'm about 12 years younger than Jeff and I remember puppet shows were a big deal, I mean Jim Hensons puppets, the muppets, Sesame Street were all big, howdie Doody was a dummy on TV it was just a think... One of my best friends had a dummy, We would put it up in his brothers room at night when he slept to freak him out.. ha I do remember seeing Jeff on TV back I think in the late 80's maybe around 1990 I was still in high school. This guy has been doing this his entire life.. He also makes all his own dummies.

To answer the question about puppets and dummies and why would a kid want one or a parent buy one for their kid. I'm about 12 years younger than Jeff and I remember puppet shows were a big deal, I mean Jim Hensons puppets, the muppets, Sesame Street were all big, howdie Doody was a dummy on TV it was just a think... One of my best friends had a dummy, We would put it up in his brothers room at night when he slept to freak him out.. ha I do remember seeing Jeff on TV back I think in the late 80's maybe around 1990 I was still in high school. This guy has been doing this his entire life.. He also makes all his own dummies.
