Sounds like the optimal solution is to tune and delete. No more EGR, DPF, SCR or DEF problems or expenses ever again, along with significant reduction in fuel consumption and elimination of DEF consumption.
I can attest to it! Fleet vehicle are fully logged. Before and after shows DEF being gobbled up! It's clear why next came warranty extension... I'm sorry, but it's junk science and feel-good legislation behind this. Those of us who are scientists and engineers understand the reality.
That is absolute nonsense. Where did you come up with that? I had the software update done a year ago. I just drove my 2017 Ram 3500 from Quebec to Arizona, towing a 6500 lb RV. As usual, I used about one 2.5 gallon box of Platinum DEF per 1400 miles.
I had a MAJOR DECLINE IN TORQUE AND POWER AND FUEL ECONOMY!!!! MPG went from 17mpg plus to 14. The engine sounds like it’s STRAINING when going up a hill with less power. Now a week after the “”67A repair”” my truck is idling up and down at stops. I am furious!!!
Just like to point out. Vehicles today are computers on wheels. Notice how there were no parts needed for this fix. Technicians handle this procedure through their diagnostic tools. That's a digital wrench 🔧. #TechForce #techniciancareers #scholarships #apprenticeships #studentexperiences
One day.. ONE DAY after having this update, my 2017 with 87K miles had it's FIRST CEL! Coincidence? You will never convince me! However the dealership I purchased her from and had the 67A update done was VERY dismissive when I called. Oh That could never happen; It has nothing to do with... "! BS! I am beyond pissed! I put a scan tool and came up with 3 codes all relating to the turbo. Last week I was driving out of town to a very important meeting and after idling at a stop light, it had a major power loss. On take-off it would not exceed 15MPH, RPM's were through the roof and it sounded like a jake-braking diesel truck. I pulled over, where there was no real place to sit, and after several minutes of half blocking traffic I was going to limp it to an exit. To my surprise, it was OK - except for the CEL still on. I made it to my meeting on time. On the way back, I again had to stop at a light and idle for a minute, On take-off, the same thing; No power, 10-15 MPH, RPM overload, and horrible sound. Again, I limped it into a parking lot and let it sit for several minutes. After several unsuccessful attempts to take off, cycling the key on/off, it finally ran OK. I drove it home, trying very hard to not have to stop & idle at all. Now, I have a very expensive paperweight in my driveway because obviously I don't want to drive it until it's fixed. Like I said I called the dealership where the recall was done & they were very dismissive. I called another dealership and explained exactly what I just said above. The service manager himself called me back and bring it in, BUT the caveat was the original dealer had not yet filed the papers where the recall had been done! So here I am waiting for that! Truckless! Now when I take this in and [IF] they try to tell me it is unrelated, $hit is gonna hit the fan!
Thats your turbo actuator shitting the bed…..mine did it at 104k miles. city diesel sells an upgraded actuator, but I put a brand new fleece cheetah turbo on and couldn’t be happier.
What if I have a friend that has already optimized his DEF usage on his own? Can we self report that so you can meet your 85% number and keep on trucking?
That's why I got rid of my big 5th wheel and diesel went to a Ford F150 with the echoboost and a travel trailer. I can pull up grades just as good with those twin turbos and I found really didn't need big 5th wheel just wife and I. We were outside most of the time when we were camping.
How about a recall on the abs module for my 2017 3500. Fixed it twice and failed and no parts available now. Ram is a joke I have a 50000 dollars truck and the dealer says don't drive it due to safety issues as no parts are avalable at this time.
What happens if they do not get the expected compliance in people doing the up date? Are they going to reimburse people like in the VW Dieselgate? I cant imagine the compliance numbers are very good at this point.
Why would they reimburse the customer? Customer is getting the advertised power and fuel economy. If Cummins does not meet the quota they will get another huge fine from the EPA. Hopefully not causing them to go bankrupt as a manufacturer. I agree with you though, I don't think they will hit their compliance numbers.
I will have this recall done on my 2015 RAM 2500 just to gain the extended warranty. I am not spending the money to delete (I don't think it's worth it), but I also don't want to have the expense of possibly replacing emissions components in the next 48,000 miles.
Not sure what Ram dealer he goes too? The Ram dealer in Grand Haven, Michigan doesn’t do anything for free! Screw that “free” warranty….I’ll take my chances with what I have😉
Nice video explaining the recall. Now, could you please do a recall and fix the grid-heater bolt of death problem? A 50 cent nut should not be able to torpedo an entire engine!! Poor design.
It's definitely a no from me. I'll just keep driving it the way it is. Throw a fix in for the grid heater bolt failures, ABS issues and sweeten the warranty period or I'll do my own work.
My 2018 Ram 2500 does not get stellar mileage anyway so now lets cut it by another 1/2 mpg. Perfect. What does Cummins really care anyway, Its not their money that buys the fuel.
Your engines are unreliable and sitting in repair shops for months due to all the EPA bolt-ons. You need to invest in a good lobbyist firm and fight to de-Californicate the EPA.
Sounds like the optimal solution is to tune and delete. No more EGR, DPF, SCR or DEF problems or expenses ever again, along with significant reduction in fuel consumption and elimination of DEF consumption.
Amen!!
So, how's your weather up there in Canada?
We only wish
I’m sure it’s either boring or there’s no girls to enjoy where you’re at
Yeah, I lost my emmission equipment in a boating accident 😂 sorry cummins!
My trucks made it to 200k with no issues , fuck your update
The recall "warranty" doesn't even cover the DPF or anything with the EGR. Garbage
Next time spend some money fighting the heavy handed epa instead of dumping this on the consumer.
This is why most of my trucks are pre-emission diesels. I will keep putting money and parts into them to bypass this political mess.
What about all the 2019+ 6.7s that have lifter failures .
After the update we have to buy twice as much DEF and the Particulate filter will fill with soot faster costing the owner lot more money to repair it.
For those who tow heavy, you will probably use close to 2x more def

If Cummins addresses the block heater bolts issue, then maybe I will consider the emissions issues.
Look at banks ram air block heater fix.
And if they add the DPF and EGR components to the warranty and extend it out to 100k miles after the warranty is completed

If they don’t fix my truck, and others, lawsuits are coming…
What I'm hearing is, this is going to make your truck worse. No thanks!
Yes it definitely does.
What is Cummins doing for the 2022s with the P2459 code, regen frequency issues?
okay now lets discuss the hydraulic lifter failures some folks are reporting with the Gen 5 6.7’s.
Cummins should get back to concentrating on building the best diesel engines, instead of their wokeness and corporate virtue signaling.
Why did you turn off your comments on the last video pertaining to this? The one with a “customer testimonial”…..
Still rocking my 06 3500 that I bought new👍🏻👍🏻💪🏻🇺🇸

exactly why i deleted mine & added the ram air intake for the grid issue
Had check engine light come on after recall code P2002 and they said sorry that is not covered on your 2018 Ram. But 2019 Ram is WTF

Anyone have an update on if the update has a negative impact?
YESSSS!!! Read my comment posted today 11/7/24

Did you hear what he said the coverage was? It doesn't cover dpc, cat, EGR cooler. It doesn't cover any big ticket items.
@@uncle705 for a 2015, it would cover any SCR parts such as Urea pump and injector.

People who have deleted-ignore this. Or like me, who downgraded to 5.9 because of constant DEF/DPF issues, couldn't care less.

We can thank the governors of California and New York, and the people heading the EPA for causing these problems and related costs.
Don't do it guys. It's a trap! Engineers like this guy is the reason comments and Ram Brand is going down. Screw these greedy companies.
