I am currently experimenting using the VM as a guitar effect with very interesting results. I would love to see your take on it. ..And I think allot of people will appreciate it too. You opened my eyes to it with your noise video: I just replaced the noise with my guitar signal. What makes the VM valuable as a guitar effect in my opinion is that you can go beyond static and modulated effects to ...rhythmic using its' built in sequencer. And since it's always good to have a second LFO: Sometimes I turn function 1 into an LFO just by sticking a cable into the sync out opening and connecting it to the input of F1. Thank you so much for what you do.
Thanks for this, very useful beyond just the kick drum sound. As a fellow aficionado of budget modular gizmos I'm really looking forward to this new series.
Thank you. I'm sure the series will include modular and semi modular but also non modular and some software so there should be something for everyone. That way I shouldn't run out of ideas 😁
This is a great series idea Chris. I have just started on my Semi-modular journey and any tips I can use are like gold-dust at the moment. Also, bought your album on Bandcamp the other day - awesome, and again, inspiring considering the equipment that you use. Thank you :)
Thanks for the video! : ) I was wondering can you store different sequences that are made with different presets ( like one with ambient sounds, other with something buzzier) or every sequence is always played with the current setup of knobs?
Thank you. No the Modular is really just designed to play whichever sound is set up on the knobs and patch points. You can record knob movements per pattern so you can store those, but it's difficult to record a static knob position as the automation just records movement. I pretty much always create a sound and pattern then record it immediately so I can move on
@@ChrisLodyMusic Thanks! : ) I just got Volca Drum and Volca NuBass and they are so much fun! I want to get this one too. The thing that is stopping me is that I also want go get the Behringer Proton which is coming out soon and it's not very chap. : )
Yes you can but you need a noise source of some sort, you can get a kind of noise out of the VMod but it's not really suitable. Try these suggestions of mind instead 😁. You can mix the kick technique with short blasts of noise to make snare like sounds ua-cam.com/video/Dli-43RAM6o/v-deo.html
Awesome! Was working slowly through with my book but this is quick and easy way to get something I can use and tweak immediately
Awesome! Excited to get some new kicks this way.

Oh yes that would be an interesting one for the list, plenty to explore there 😁
thanks, that'll do until the volca kick arrives
Really versatile patch. A great series to come I’m sure. Can’t wait! Thanks Chris 👍
Glad you found it useful. I'll do my best to keep it interesting 😁

This was a great helpful example -- thanks!

I learnt a lot. Thanks. A clave patch for the volca drum would be appreciated
Glad you enjoyed it. I'll give that a go 😁
Super useful explanation.
Thank you, glad you found it helpful

Could you please explain and show the most aggressive generative random sequence that is possible on the Volca Modular?
That sounds like a nice challenge 😁 I'll see what I can come up with
Awesome work Chris! Time to dust off the volca!
Thanks, have fun
Can you make snares on modular Volca?
