I’ve ridden most of the ADV motorcycles. I think it really comes down to how much of what type of riding you are “really” going to do vs dreaming of doing. I’ve been driving motorcycles now for 50 years thru all types of four seasons in most parts of the US and Canada. Best to buy more than one cycle type if you can.

Lower octane fuel have more Ethanol mixture which have lower energy density and damage the engine. Ethanol attracts water, blends the oil and corrode sealings so if you want your engine to have good fuel economy and last longer you should stay away from low octane fuel.

@@curtisbull1583 My experience with Honda was pretty average to put it nicely. I can safely say that the Africa Twin was the most unreliable and most expensive bike I owned. Let me give you a hint of some of the issues you will face just out of the warranty period:
      - Leaky forks due to worn off coating. Honda will replace the seals just to get you over the warranty, but the only solution is a full fork replacement at your own cost (approx. 10% of the cost of a new bike)
      - Fuel pump failure due to dislodged sediments from the tank (there was a recall in some countries but not all countries)
      - Rear wheel bearing failure
      - Rust on spokes, rims and brake bolts
      - Rust on frame welded joins (this is pretty serious and there is no easy fix)
      - Random gremlins with the instrument cluster
      - I am glad I did not extend the 16K mi service interval, as all exhausts valves were way out of spec. BTW, the valve checks service was more expensive than a Ducati desmo service, as half bike needs to be dismantled to access the valves
I was not unlucky, all of the issues above are well documented on the various AT forums, so it wasn’t just a lemon bike. This was for a manual model, people with DCT have plenty of horror stories to share.
The AT is a fantastic bike, but don’t buy it because of its ‘legendary’ reliability - build quality and components are below average.

Both the AT and T7 are great bikes for reliability and parts availability. If you haven’t done so, I recommend you drive both bikes first. If your not racing or trying to set a world record, I think a lot of it comes down to how you fit and feel on the bike for your body size and height etc. another thing to consider is how often you were going to be using the motorcycle for what type of trip and at what speeds.

Until end of 2020 and start of 2021, the 790 (duke or adv s/r) are made in AUSTRIA. And the price of 790 adv S was in 2020, of 12700 euro..it's simple, go on google for check. The fact is that 790 is the UNIQUE bike with a weight like a t7, but with specifics of the engine like a 1000/1100 cc !! 95 cv (or 105 for an 890) and 105 nm for 188kg, that weights 790 adv in 2020. Bikes like africatwin 1100 are sleept compared with the skills of 790/890..i dont compare garbage like a t7 because are the same of an old transalp 650 witj only ABS more. The result is that...instead a 790 adv 2023 has NOW, for 10999 euros, inertial plattform, a modern electronic, (if you pay 250 euros you have QS by, or with 300 you have a modern cruise control) a nice and complete TFT, it has TUBELESS...have i to say more?
