Props to all the guys trying not to spoil it for him - you are right - it is so hard sometimes to avoid spoiling it by referencing something from a future one because it is so well blended!
37:32 it makes sense why you get a Star Wars feel from what I’m assuming is the music at the end of the movie since John Williams is the composer for both this movie and a lot of the Star Wars
When I went to Universal Studios in Florida it was the day before my 19th birthday and me and my friend were waiting in line to go into Ollivanders. One of the staff came out, looked at the people in line and then came over and asked me to come to the front. I was so confused and a bit nervous but I ended up being chosen to 'choose my wand' like in the movie. It honestly was magical and made me feel like a kid in the movie. These movies and books truly are an experience.
I would laugh about Brig being scared as a kid and being unable to watch the Harry Potter movies... but I couldn't watch the werewolf scenes in the third movie for like 3 years
John Williams was composing for this film and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones concurrently, so it makes sense why they both sound very similar (and interchangeable in many places).
*Welcome to The Wizarding World rabbit hole that is Harry Potter.* *The best thing about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, to me is that the chambers following the third-floor corridor containing Fluffy each play to the strengths of Harry, Ron and Hermione.* *The Devil's Snare chamber caters to Hermione's knowledge of spells. (Even though she froze up out of fear in the book and had to be reminded that she was a witch by Ron) The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch. And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess.* *Side notes:* *The Sorting Hat chooses new students' houses based on their corresponding personality traits:* *Gryffindor-Bravery, helping others, and chivalry.* *Hufflepuff-Hard work, patience, loyalty, and fair play.* *Ravenclaw-Intelligence, knowledge, and wit.* *Slytherin-Ambition, cunning and resourcefulness.* *Erised (The Mirror of Erised) is the word desire spelled backward.* *Hedwig is a snowy owl. They have ruffled wing feathers to silence their flight so prey animals don't hear them coming. They also have natural camouflage due to their coloration, and they're the only birds of prey who don't have bare feet due to their habitats, like the Arctic Tundra.* *At the time of the deaths of Lily and James Potter at the hands of Voldemort, Harry was only 15 months old.*
14:54 it’s been said that everyone hated doing these scenes, because the food was left out and so it started to get stinky. Also, the candles were real candles, hung up by I believe, fishing wire, and some of the actors and extras got burned from the dripping wax.
It's so weird watching this movie without hearing the "Wizard People, Dear Reader" narration over it. My brain is refusing to let me watch without hearing it in my head, lol
First 2 movies: childish imagination and wonder 3rd through 5th movies: The Rough teenage years 6th and final movie: the danger and reality of entering adulthood
I’m so excited to see you guys watch the rest :) also, just because it hasn’t been mentioned here yet (as far as I can see!), re the Mirror of Erised, what is Erised backwards? 😊 Loved seeing your reaction to that scene, it’s one of my favourites!
i'm sorry to do this boys but I"m the Mormon of Harry Potter and I'm here to tell you guys to listen to the audio books when you're editing or driving on long-ass trips bro, that shit will change your life with how different yet similar it is. you'll be able to picture everything in your heads. maybe don't react to them unless you find a way to make it creative since they're long as fuck but they're a good time trust me.
Would prefer the row of viewers at the bottom of the screen, chest upward (don't need to see knees and coffee table), with the film box above their heads, at least slightly less transparent. Some reactors get by copywrite by superimposing a little bit of text over a much much less transparent movie screen. Remind the less-knowledgeable that the 8 films don't rehash the same age group, that each year is a year's advance into the future and new info is introduced as well as age-specific issues arising to be resolved. There's plenty of story for the 8 films to be forced to accommodate. Also, as new info is uncovered, what you think you know changes everything. Sometimes what seems settled 'facts' get revised by new revelations. Then there's having to challenge every opinion or confirmed/adamant understanding that, even when stated with authority, can be totally wrong. Just as Harry was convinced it was Snape in cahoots with Voldemort, appearances and conjecture can be misleading. JK Rowling was fond of applying red herrings and wild goose chases. I think every film/book has a "Wait; WHAT?!" moment or several. Don't think of Voldemort as 'dead'; this whole series deals with Voldemort avoiding death. Voldemort was living in Quirrell as a parasite. After several unicorns are killed and their blood drunk, Voldemort had enough material substance to survive the loss of Quirrell as a host body. My personal opinion is that Voldemort tried to enter Harry, but the same protection Harry's mother conferred upon Harry before dying kept Voldemort from possessing him. No, the entire saga is about all the techniques Voldemort used (and had used already) to avoid death. Voldemort is no ghost; he still has a foot in material existence. _____________________________ Note: When Harry first sees Snape after being sorted in the Dining Hall, and Harry's scar begins burning, it's not because Snape is looking at Harry. Quirrell is sitting next to Snape with his back to Harry; Harry is being observed by Voldemort looking through the turban at Harry. _____________________________ Note: The criteria assessed by the Sorting Hat is the student's core values. Each House is founded upon certain core values, not talents, interests, or habits. The Sorting Hat reads the student's core values and matches them to the appropriate House. You see this most clearly with Hermione. She appears to be bookish and intellectual and good at solving mysteries (like Fluffy and the trap door), seemingly Ravenclaw traits, but she states quite clearly, following the giant chess game: "Books and cleverness. There are more important things: friendship and bravery”. She just specified the Gryffindor core values, which is why she was sorted into that House. _____________________________ JK Rowling took great care coming up with names for her literary characters; they contain clues about them. Quirrell's first name is Quirinus. 'Quirinus' was the name of a pre-Roman god similar to the Roman god Janus, from which we get 'January' (part of how Rome conquered and assimilated other lands was by adopting their deities). The gods Janus and Quirinus shared the unique feature of having two faces, one the looked forward into the future and the other looking behind at the past. It's interesting that Quirrell was two-faced in nature as well as having two faces from his occupation by Voldemort. It's also interesting that Quirrell first experiences Harry facing him (future) while Voldemort-Quirrell first experiences Harry in the present from Quirrell's back (past). Sisters Lily and Petunia were named after flowers. There was a social convention in use in the late-1800s called the Victorian Flower Language (google it), which defined a meaning for flowers and dictated the appropriate flowers to show, grow, or send. According to that, 'lily' means 'purity/loving' and 'petunia' means 'anger/resentment'. Filch's first name is Argus. In ancient Greek mythology, Argus was a servant of Hera, queen of the gods of Olympus and jealous wife of philandering king of the gods Zeus. Hera set Argus the task to keep watch on her husband, to let her know when he was being unfaithful. As an aid to this, she gave Argus 100 eyes, so he could see in all directions and so even asleep he had 50 eyes open and watching. When Argus was eventually killed, she put his eyes on the bird that was sacred to her: the peacock. To this day, peacocks are kept on estates as exotic guard 'dogs', because they make a deafening racket when they encounter intruders on the grounds. It's interesting that Filch has set it his personal task to watch students to find ones breaking rules or being where they shouldn't; and his shouts of "STUDENTS OUT OF BED! STUDENTS OUT OF BED!" is not far from peacock shrieks. Have a look for yourselves. _____________________________ Practical Benefits of Magic: The difference between muggles and wizards ('wizards', more formally 'wizardkind', is a gender-neutral term, like 'man' in the US Constitution includes women) is minimal. The only difference is the genetic-based ability to perceive and channel the vital force generally referred to as 'magic'. Channeling a powerful force like magic has an impact on the body: -Resilience: Wizard/witch bodies can handle physical trauma without much damage. Bones and organs require greater force injure, and healing is quicker with no resultant scarring. Longbottom's broken wrist will mend in a short time and be good as new. So, injuries at Hogwarts are no big deal, just a temporary nuisance. Strength is also improved, as are reflexes. -Resistance: Far fewer pathogens infect a wizard/witch; no colds or flu, just amazingly good health. That said, there are a few wizard/witch specific germs that can prove problematic or even fatal. Research in the Wizarding World continues to find charms and potions that fight these pathogens. -Longevity: Muggles have an average lifespan of about 75 years; the average lifespan of a wizard/witch is twice that, about 150 years. -Magic-Based Injuries: Ordinary physical trauma is blunted by the channeling of the natural vital force of magic energy, but injuries CAUSED by magic are permanent and can be brutal or fatal. There is no easy healing from it and can result in scarring or loss of body parts. Note Harry carrying a scar on his forehead; he may have survived a Death Curse, but he still bears the scar. Anytime you see a character with scars or physical damage, it is the result of magic-caused injury. -Cultural Attitudes About Risk: Because the ramifications of risky actions can be minimal, there is cultural cachet in engaging in risky behavior and/or dangerous activities and vocations. Likely the need to be extremely aware and in possession of a great many details also adds to a desire to put one's wits to the test, to prove oneself. Magic is unpredictable; it requires you maintain awareness.
I had nightmares of Voldemort when I was little. He would cast a spell that would land on a house and kill anyone and everyone in it instantly every time it stormed. Spoiler alert, I died.
The snitch is worth 150 points, and the game only ends once its caught (the longest match in history lasted a few months), so even if a team catches the snitch if the enemy is ahead by 150 it would be a draw, 160 + they would win. Book spoiler: This isnt relevant in the movies but in the books during the World Cup Krum catches the snitch even though his team is losing by only 160, resulting in a loss. I think its because the Irish were so much better than the Bulgarian team, the chance of them closing the point gap was improbable, so he ended the game on his terms.
Did you remake your channel or something? Swore I was subbed to you beasts. Also if you love HP you should check out Wizard People Dear Reader, it came out before the release of the second movie and was an "audiobook" of the first, it's really pretty funny.
My youngest son didn't want to watch them because they were scary. I told them when to shut their eyes while watching LOTR, but I underestimated the amount of horror in HP 🫣 (Sorry, love)
I swear I watched this a week ago...

I learned this recently but did you know the first Dumbledore's (Richard Harris)'s son is Jared Harris, he was Valery Legasov in Chernobyl.
Jack, Cannon and Carter are Hermione, Ron and Harry in that order 😂
I would laugh about Brig being scared as a kid and being unable to watch the Harry Potter movies... but I couldn't watch the werewolf scenes in the third movie for like 3 years
