    • @arjunnambiar4364
      @arjunnambiar4364 8 місяців тому

      @@yukonstriker1703 It’s not just about hitting the buttons. You really need to have that kind of trust on yourself, the instruments and the nature. When you are responsible for the souls onboard the aircraft, you just simply cannot sit and let plane do the work. All the plane did was glide through the clouds. The pilots did the work right after taking off the Autopilot, from controlling the speed, manoeuvring till the touchdown. So fair enough to say, they didn’t just simply hit the button and turned dials, there’s a hell lot of things involved behind the scenes.

      @@arjunnambiar4364in this instance it was an autoland - the autopilot wasn't turned off until the thrust reversers were deployed. But obviously they weren't just lounging, captain was at the ready to take over just in case and fly a go around. But besides trusting in your IFR training and the aircraft's CAT II/III capability - it's just essentially punching in the numbers and the plane does the rest of the landing.

    That sure is an awful lot of control manipulation for autoland. Saw a demonstrated autoland in the A320 sim and once you set the autopilots, speed and autobrakes... you do not touch anything.

      That was a CAT III Autoland but without Auto-throttle, you can see the light touch as the Captain's left hand follows the yoke as the AP inputs control movements and also see the manual control of the throttles. Very smooth indeed!

      @@paulflanders1916 Low time pilots, faulty parts, following the emergency checklist and then not following the emergency checklist. There was plenty of blame to go around in both of those MAX accidents and it wasn't just Boeing to blame! Hell, Air France flew a perfectly good jet into the Atlantic because pitot tubes froze over, so you may want to rethink your Airbus argument. At the end of they day you are being payed to fly the jet, not push buttons and follow magenta lines!

    • @Mustangboss76
      @Mustangboss76 8 місяців тому

      .. Agreed it had major issues, but these problems have been resolved & the max to date has been the most tested & re- tested aircraft, having to prove it self to a much higher standard . Airbus have been critised in the past for relying too much on automation, in several incident reports. So to say the Max is flawed is not correct , no plane is perfect.

      What are you talking about, FO needs to be retrained. You have no clue as to the quality of the comms inside that cockpit. As a highly experienced pilot with more than 8000 hours of jet time, they did a pretty good job. I do have some slight comments about the CAPT though, when the airplane is in motion on the ground, switches should only be handled by the FO but if CAPT elects to handle any switches, it should be verbalized. SOPs either were not followed or do not address this situation. Also with complicated taxi instructions, they should be written down to prevent runway incursion or confusion.
