I've been in love with GitS since the manga was first released in the US and I can honestly say that the casting was one of the only good things about the movie. The script and direction were a hot mess so they decided to try and fall back on recreating so many scenes from all the anime sources. No dice, guys-actual fans who didn't care who was playing 'Major' did not suddenly become enamoured of that trash. Hopefully the lesson learned is that you should have actual fans make things based on good source material instead of two-bit philanderers, but I doubt it. Rupert Sanders should never have had that movie.
