I've noticed most of Craig's lady guests express reluctance to end their encounters with him.
That's what I always hate about this show, the sort time they had. So unfair.
I love how he broke down someone who's so used to getting interviewed like Scarlett. Her insecurities slowly bubbled up to the surface in the second interview. And yet he never made her uncomfortable.
Well she was definitely famous back then, but she wasn't huge until a few years later.

It's amazing how much chemistry they have, yet these were among Craig's least flirty interviews.
Scarlett matches his random goofiness and usually manages to raise the hand which makes the conversation so fluid, Craig doesn't need his usual flirtuous humour to create goofy fun.
I don't know if they talk of stage about it, she really improvises the hell out of every blank. ''all of the aboveian'' was not something most his guests would come up with that quickly.
Scarlett's a combo between stunningly pretty _and_ approachably down-to-earth, so I'm not surprised.

@@kotoamatsukami1133 totally agree on that. there was 100% alot of flirting and some "sexual" tension. scarlett does not get nervous in interviews she has done this for decades and is a full down to earth professional. and yet she still was playing with her ear rings in the first interview so often and had a some nervous teenager vibes imo

Jet erm.... actually the first interview Scarlett looked extremely uncomfortable and Craig was just letting her drag on doing a terrible job at helping her... he was even surprised she wanted to come back on the show.. one of the few times I witnessed this on the Craig Fergusson show usually he is pretty good at catching guests
Its really fun to do that to people, when you do that they become so alive and authentic, it's something that I've worked on mastering my whole life just to see who people really are

She sometimes lowers her voice, laughs a lot, but keeps composed and on topic.
Craig does everything he can to take her off balance, she is solid and quick witted.

Without doubt, one of his best ever guest. She so gets him and he so gets her. Class act!
Charisma is when one of the world's most beautiful women is on the show, and I (a straight dude) can't look away from Craig. He's just magnetic, one of those rare performers that just owns the screen.

I watch the way Craig interacts with his guest and I think iv worked him out. He has an unusually good appreciation for women’s psychology. He’s a “charming” combination of flattery (always compliments their appearance esp shoes) frivolity, wit & confidence. It not only puts women at ease but wins them over. There’s a marked difference between Scarlett’s 1st & 2nd visit

That's what he was thinking at the time, simple sure, shallow maybe, but it was far, far from the thoughts she was inflicting on herself... that's all. c: What's important is that she recognize the difference between those thoughts, that's the healing. You can see it on her face. It's silly, what we do it ourselves... imagine walking into a party and being able to ask a room why are they all staring at you, thinking they think you're weird when they tell you it's because they wished they had the courage to talk to you. We don't get that in life, you know? It's nice when we do. :)

I've seen all his interviews and this has to be one of, if not _the_ smoothest lines he's ever said. It was funny, flirty and sweet.🙂

I don’t think he sucks. I don’t enjoy his work but I think he targets his show to a more teenage demographic and is a little more standard talk show. However many people enjoy his work still and you’ve got to give him credit that at least he didn’t just copy Craig’s format. Like I said I am not a fan but I just don’t think I’m his audience,

I think Craig’s chemistry with her was so automatic, in much the same way as his chemistry with Lauren Graham. Scarlett is a seriously charming and intelligent conversationalist!

Some women get Ferguson, some don’t. SJ is smart enough to keep up with him, and surprised him with sharp comebacks. That’s why these interviews work. At the time, Scarlett was the highest paid, most influential woman in Hollywood. Even having her on the show was a massive achievement. Years later, too many forget how entertaining Ferguson’s show was. Head and shoulders above any of the mainstream talk shows.
