@@HallucinxtionBrett’s playing 4D chess. He agrees with you. But if he says what you said then Jayden Daniels will probably end up as a double amputee on the field due to the Kollmann curse
A few things from this video that I think are important coming from a Commanders fan. 1) The screen rate has been declining over the course of the season in favor of more true RPO looks. It is still going to be higher than league average because the team just has perfect personnel for it, and it also serves as a way of fatiguing the pass rush even more than a running play. 2) One of the craziest things this offense does is just go no huddle for one or two random possessions a game and switch from being an incredibly slow tempo offense to one of the most up tempo offenses in the league, again to fatigue the D-Line I think. 3) Where this team is making its bread is by picking on the vulnerable linebacker. Most of the play designs are to overload one linebacker and then switch to a run once they go to a lighter box for coverage. (watch 57 on the Bengals and you will know what I mean) 4) The offense has already evolved a ton, and it is clear that they have a plan in place to both keep Jayden comfortable while introducing one new thing at a time to get comfortable with. Right now the focus is on getting comfortable with hitting crossing routes, the next focus is probably going to be on adding more under center looks to open up the running game more. 5) You are absolutely right that they haven't had success against any real defenses yet. They are not talented enough to win based on talent against a good defense yet. Even though they will be outmatched in a lot of those matchups I still expect them to play tough games because... 6) The most encouraging thing about this offense is that they haven't really made mistakes with the ball so far this season. Any NFL team that has this few turnovers is going to be pretty competitive.
1) Those also lead to a _LOT_ of "illegal man downfield" penalties. 2) I wish the Browns would notice that their offense performs better in hurry-up no huddle offense. 4) Apparently Kliff Kingsbury has not only learned humility, he's come to realize he wasn't doing his job. Even then, epiphanies don't make one talented enough to correct things. But _damn_ he really really HAS improved. Like it's a complete change. If I hadn't heard about him saying this in an interview I was looking forward to a Waldron scenario where we'd find out later it was actually an assistant who called the great plays. But no, apparently it _is_ Kliff. No offense, this just makes me wish all the more that Kyler had gotten his revenge against him. At the same time I'm thrilled to see it because usually people never change this about themselves.
Also, our biggest room for improvement just happens to be the greatest strength of our HC and DC - igniting a defense to be physical, relentless, impassioned, and to play beyond their means. Even if our offense regresses a bit due to tougher matchups/teams getting tape on us, our defense should improve at LEAST as much, but likely more.
@@danielmyers9372 There is so much room for improvement on that side of the ball. I was joking with my dad that if they get to the point of having an average defense by the end of the year then they will win the division. The main thing that is scary is how back loaded their schedule is, so it sort of feels like they have to win all the games at the start or else they won't even have a chance by the end of the season. The only game out of the last 8 where I would consider them the favorites is against the Titans, but a lot can change between now and then.

This probably will seem like a generalized take but all you really needed to do to realize who the most NFL ready QB was looking at the systems they operated and how well they did it. Daniels is coming out of a top 3 school in terms of NFL translation to success. LSU pumps out some of the best offensive players in the league on a regular basis. They run a comprehensive offense and Daniels led that offense in a big way last year, was EXTREMELY efficient and did not have many turnovers. The arm talent is there. The speed is there. The physical traits are there. The leadership is there. Not much to not like about this kid.
Brett Kollmann - One of the very few videos on Daniels/Washington through 4 games where some things were highlighted that could trigger a slow-down with the offense. Highest % of screens on 1st down is something good defenses will adjust and take away. I'm curious to see how this plays out - good video.
As a giants fan we learned this week two when when every single time the pressure got to him or coverage was perfect he’d just get out of 16 sacks and run for a first
Could you please do a video on the pitch play it seems like the niners and Seahawks are the only teams that run it well. As a bengals fan we run it multiple times a week to no success. It seems like a bad play to my eyes but I’m sure it could be a more effective play for other teams.
If Jayden can adjust to the response from defenses, even if he has some rough patches this year, he is the real deal as the commander's next QB. As a bears fan (yes the comparison is exhausting and pointless because they have different styles), I see how Caleb Williams is given command of a full NFL playbook right off the bat, with frequent empty sets. I'd love to see both succeed, and both look to have longevity - JD can throw great tight balls, and CW's improvement from games 1 to 3-4 shows his hope to get the hang of his much less rookie-friendly system.
Been a Washington fan since 98, my only expectation this season was to have an entertaining to watch football team. That was it. The bar was cleared by a mile
it is crazy how much Caleb has struggled considering his supporting cast is much, much, much better than Jayden's. The Bears coaching staff must be horrendous.

I think you missed the second order effect of their playcalling. The future opponent reactions to the run/screen heaviness of first down will also result in less chance for pressure on first down-as the defenses play adjust their calls to deal with them, they could be much less likely to rush the passer.
In the modern NFL, I genuinely think the IQ of receivers is probably the most important thing for an offense. Especially with how brilliant defenses are now. You need receivers who know when to deviate their route slighty - be it because the guy over them blitzed, the route they are supposed to run might send them into zone coverage, etc. High IQ receivers make the QBs life easier, and it allows your offense to sustain drives. If you don't have an all-pro caliber athletic receiver, then you want smart ones.

I do have to say, the offense is a breath of fresh air in comparison to last year, where it seemed like Howell was put on hard mode. Not that he would have been Daniels in this offense, but he probably would have been killed less. As for the OL, it is hard to say how good it ultimately is, given that most everyone is new. Brandon Coleman is slowly getting worked in, while everyone else is still coming together. Yesterday's performance was pretty damn good, since it seemed like Daniels had all day at times.
Welcome to the NFC EAST where up is down down is right and right left and left is up nothing makes sense and life for every team besides for Washington sucks
After Wk4, yeah, I'd say the Commies are the best. Before that, I, too, would've said the Eagles are the best in the NFC East. They had beaten the Packers on a slip-'n-slide in Brazil, lost a close game by a point to Atlanta and Cousins' 2-minute drill, and defeated a Saints team with a +62-point differential over the prior two games. The Compadres, meanwhile, got beat by 17 by the Bucs, beat the Giants 21-18 without scoring a touchdown, and then shocked everyone with a big win against the Bengals.
Bro as a die hard Eagles fan I can already tell that Brett hasn’t dissected a single game from us this season yet because we are NOT good lol. Defense cannot tackle to save our lives, Hurts is not playing confidently, I don’t think we’ve ran a blitz package even ONE time, and the play-calling on offense is as confusing as ever; we’d be better off running Ask Madden plays than whatever tf our coordinators/Siriani are doing.
@@joshbreton8496 on paper, the Eagles are the best team. I agree that they arent playing/being coached to their potential though. brett leans heavily into roster building when evaluating teams
This feels different bro the "curse" is over bro. Jayden Daniels is a humble, confident & focused guy. Doesn't let the last play effect him mentally so don't worry lol we as Skins fans have served our time with curses. Dan Snyder is out the building something I never thought would happen
This is where the nfl is trending, the age of the dual threat QB, not only do you have to throw good, you better be a damn great athlete now to pick up first downs with your legs, the offense will keep staying on the field
I think he looked great in the Giants game, even if they struggled in the red zone. 7 straight drives (8 going back to the previous game) scoring is insane for a rookie in week 2. They moved up and down the field at will. It's not Jayden's fault the o-line committed a penalty on 5/6 of those failed red zone trips. I don't count the last one because it was a game-winning drive, and they didn't need a touchdown. Even the Bucs game he looked alright outside of being gun-shy throwing down the field. It's kind of hard to do much when your kicker misses two field goals and the Bucs were having long, extended drives. They had two drives over 4 minutes long and two over 7 minutes. Even then they scored on 3/8 of their drives while getting in field goal range for two others.
One team you didn't mention is their matchup with the New Orleans Saints in Wk 15... Assuming NO has some combination of their top 3 linebackers (Davis/Werner/Gay) and top safeties (Mathieu/Harris) healthy, I think it could get interesting. NO seems to have trouble containing mobile QBs, but I'd like to see Alontae Taylor rushing/spying Daniels.
Is there any benefit to running zone underneath with cover 1? I feel like it would be a complex coverage that resembles cover 3 more than cover 1 especially because youd have to carry receivers deep off the #2/3...with the decrease in air yards and emphasis on efficiency in the passing game throughout the league early this year, I wonder what kind of adjustments are going to be made
Scouting report is out. I do foresee some regression to the mean, but I think that quick release coupled with the athleticism will always keep him as a high floor QB in this league
Scouting report isn't out until someone figures out how to stop him. Knowing a players strengths is literally step 1 to being able to stop him. Now someone has to come up with the game plan that will stop him. So far the best plan has been praying that his OL jumps offsides 4 times within the 10 yard line.
Wouldn’t motion help a QB out because the reciever can hit a gap in the zone sooner and deeper downfield so an accurate QB could hit them in those gaps.

As a Washington Duuurrrs fan and obviously a fan of your work I was so hoping for a video from you on JD and this offense
As a young Washington fan all I’ve known is pain until now. This is heaven
I'm curious to see how this plays out - good video.
i swear i’ve seen this exact video title by someone else, but saying “jalen hurts” instead of
This isn't a shot at Brett or anyone in particular, but NFL media is veeery quick to crown someone as being the next great thing.
Yeah.. I mean they gotta talk about something though. And talking about the new hotness will always bring more clicks. Is what it is
As a giants fan we learned this week two when when every single time the pressure got to him or coverage was perfect he’d just get out of 16 sacks and run for a first
Could you please do a video on the pitch play it seems like the niners and Seahawks are the only teams that run it well. As a bengals fan we run it multiple times a week to no success. It seems like a bad play to my eyes but I’m sure it could be a more effective play for other teams.
I love the video getting co-opted by a rant on WTF is going on in the NFC East
NFCLeast is back, baby!! Nothing can hurt me anymore after that Eagles/Bucs game!!
End of the month video, right on schedule
The way the ball pops when this kid throws the ball was what i noticed first.
Being from up the road I'm glad Washington finally got their guy
Jayden “The System” Daniels‼️🔥
TNANK YOU, my Caleb Williams rookie of the year ticket has life now !!!!
it is crazy how much Caleb has struggled considering his supporting cast is much, much, much better than Jayden's. The Bears coaching staff must be horrendous.
@@brandondillman5841 For you casuals who can't read film, JD is literally running his LSU offense with the same terminology. JD running a high school offense. Washington has basicaly mortgaged his future for some short term success, while Caleb and Bo are learning NFL offenses. The only reason JD has blown up is because they have played the worst defenses in the league. Stop fangirling and learn to watch film.
I think you missed the second order effect of their playcalling. The future opponent reactions to the run/screen heaviness of first down will also result in less chance for pressure on first down-as the defenses play adjust their calls to deal with them, they could be much less likely to rush the passer.
jayden daniels and cj stroud balling...the inland empire is taking over the league 🥲
Not the Brock Osweiler jersey 😂😂😂 you just gave me ptsd Brett.
Going to my first commanders home game Sunday, thanks for ensuring I’ll have a terrible experience!
im excited when jayden becomes a vet qb 3 years from now, he's gonna be so much more deadly🔥
I am so happy for Terry Mcclauren. He deserves a great QB. Been a fan of Terry since he entered the league. Just want the man to succeed.
Little drunk & thought it said 1 hr 14 min but figured Bret had enough film for it lol
Oh fuck yeah Brett uploaded!-When it's a video on a different team
Oh fuck....yeah..Brett uploaded-When it's a video on your team
The curse is 3/3, never a doubt in my mind keep going man. Use this power wisely the fate of many bones are in your hands.
Just when you think Brett couldn’t push the sponsorship boundaries any further, he releases at 5:30 AM
Thank you!
I love it. You just said Jayden blew bombs against the Giants. By the time they play. Kliff will have 10 plays they’ve never seen lol
As an Eagles fan thank you for this
"I am not predicting", but the curse will take care of it for you. 🤣
God damnit Brett 3 am 😭😭😭
Love your content Brett. I was wondering if could do a video on why and how Rashan Gary is doing worse this year
3am drop gotta love it 😂
The disrespect is crazy Washington is the best team in the NFC East not #2
He said they may be the best
I think it’s because he recorded this on Thursday, before that horrendous Eagles performance

Kliff has done a great job for Daniels plus opened up running Lanes.
Anyone else and Daniels would not be this far with this o-line.
Daniels really does only throw to the right. Never noticed it until I saw his pass chart.
More insight from this guy then all the talking heads on tv combined
A wild osweiler jersey appears? Throw a rock!
Koleman curse about to save the Cowboys season
Welcome to the NFC EAST where up is down down is right and right left and left is up nothing makes sense and life for every team besides for Washington sucks
Smartest non-Washington NFC East fan
The division really puts the L in NFC Least 😔
Kollmann curse faces its biggest test. Unstoppable force meets immovable object once again lol
8:48 I'm calling for a total and complete shutdown of Californians making Pizza until we have figured out what the hell is going on.
Underdog got Brett too they recruited everyone 😂
hedges his bets at the end so he doesn't jinx him lol
See you soneish - best outro so far!
is him saying the commanders are the second best implying that the eagles are the best? if so, why tho
Can you do a browns and DW4 video on how bad they are and why🙏🏻
Oh great as a commanders fan - really wanted to get the Kollman curse
Daron Payne hasn’t been the same since your video on him….
This was a nice breakdown thanks Bronco fan
back here after jayden daniels injury that makes him questionable to return against the panthers 😭kollmann curse never ends
Not looking so cursed now.
Those yellow pants are so damn nice.
Brock Osweiler jersey is legendary
Best season as a Redskins fan of my life
As a bears fan I swear to god, you know what I mean. But good for JD
Once again love your videos homie where is the Maxx Crosby video
If Brett is talking JD5……..Washington, we have arrived😮😮😮
The Kollmann curse is going to turn Daniels into the next RG3 😬
I wonder if NFL teams watch Brett Kollman videos before they play the person he’s talking about
That's been the real Kollman curse the whole time, information
Brett Kollman IS the NFL UA-camr.
Watching this because my next fantasy opponent jayden Daniel's, hoping the curse works soon!!
I wouldn't say the giants did their job. More like the offense failed at theirs. They had like 6 penalties in the redzone that made them kick fgs.
Wouldn’t motion help a QB out because the reciever can hit a gap in the zone sooner and deeper downfield so an accurate QB could hit them in those gaps.
BRETT WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!?!??! YOU'VE CURSED OUR SWEET PRINCE
