Russell T Davies did a cameo as a Welsh news reporter in Torchwood Miracle Day. He didn't want to, but he was the only person on hand who could do a convincing Welsh accent.
An interesting anecdote is that in the second-to-last Tom Baker episode, Keeper of Traken, The Master actually dominates another's body, and he's in that form throughout the rest of the series. It was very similiar to what he did in the 1996 movie, although he wasn't after The Doctor's remaining lives or anything. What I'm thinking is that the Time Lords reconstructed a new body for him, and as such he would've started off at Life: 1 again.
Ive seen the 5 drs but i cant even remeber that part, i need to watch it again. I remeber the ring of rassilon but i cant actually remember the storyline properly.
Doctor Who seems to be so popular. I'm living in germany and they did only send the first 2 seasons. I'd love to live in England, where I can watch Doctor Who because my TV isn't geting BBC -.-
Michael Gambon in that Christmas special is NOT a cameo. Wikis definition "A cameo role or cameo appearance (/ˈkæmioʊ/; often shortened to just cameo) is a brief appearance of a known person in a work of the performing arts, such as plays, films, video games[1] and television." Which episode did Mark cameo in and wrote? Victory of the Daleks, he was the voice of one of the spit fire pilots.
Lol I'd forgotten all about this conversation so I might've taken your advice before you'd given it to me. All the same thanks, I think i've seen him say similar things elsewhere
@227060 When u say the monsters turning up do you mean returning monsters or multi-monsters eg A good man goes to war, cos otherwise im sorry isn't the appearence of monsters a staple of the show. the most substantial returning character has been Craig. River is supporting. everyone else is just like a brief appearence really
Anyone think that if Marshall Gregson from the United States of Tara was older and Welsh... he'd bear a strange resemblance to RTD? (he does have a DW poster on his wall :P)
No, it's not. A cameo is a one-off appearance more as a guest star than as a regular appearance on the show. It's like saying John Simm's role as the Master was a cameo, because he's an established actor. Not so, because of his importance to the entire story of Doctor Who. Whereas Michael Gambon in that Christmas special is a cameo, because that character is only in that one episode. Mark Gatiss may be a cameo in a few episodes, but certainly not as Mycroft. That's just a role.
@eateroftheflame he made him lovey dovey ONCE...with Rose. other than that companions were occassionally omantically intested in him, which isn't the Doctor's fault. He is 1 of my fav writers 4 TV and DW altho I admit he isn't the best but I kinda like his style. I feel ppl do give him too much flasck considering all his job entails. I notice in S%, tho good, the Moff hasn't had any eps on par with his prev 1s likely due 2 his other committments as head writer, xec prod etc
@227060 Although he only did it once, that "once" started in series 1 and lasted until the end of series 4 when he finally ditched Rose with a clone. I have to disagree about Moffs series 5 episodes, I thought they were just as good as the previous ones (except the finale but I've never cared much for the finales). It really doesn't matter what others think just like what you want, some bad mouth the 1996 TV movie but I loved it.
@LegoDaleks Well not necesarrily. I mean remember the Time lords were a big deal when they were aroundand depite knowing his name, never actually used it, so there was an element of mystery around it. i mean there must be a reason ig or small as to why he never uses his real name. to be fair to Moffat and RTD it was the late 80s who emphasised that there was something more to the Doctor and a mystery around his name...
@THE DW GEEK too bad the ratings are terrible now. Chibnall is one of the worst things to happen to the show. To be fair, when Moffat was appointed he was known as the writer of the best episodes of RTD's era. Chibnall was known as one of the worst writers of any era. Honestly is anyone shocked his first season had some of the worst writing ever? Jodie could be fantastic. But she's been given fuck all to work with.
@LegoDaleks who is muppet? Having watched alot of eps classic and new and read alot of DW fictional and non-fictional material the joke around his name is more when ppl call him 'Doctor Who' not so much that the audience themselves don't know. I mean why keep his name secret at all then? Why not just tell his friends his name, even Romana still had to call him the Doctor
@LegoDaleks I actually really alot of what you said u disliked altho in reagrds to the crack in time I felt mindfucked after he Big Bang since I have no idea what is and isn't canon anymore. Nevermind I just wing it
@hcvang Im not saying the Docotor shud regenerate in spin off media into a Sontaran or wateva, just A time Lord. plus thats why I said in spin off media bcos u can get away with more stuff in those bcos they aren't as exposed as say the TV series. Eg there were non-white and gay companions in DW spin off stories LONG b4 they showed up in the TV show from 2005 onwards
@227060 Surely tho never giving his name and caling himself the Doctor insistently is sorta trying hard to keep your name a secret. I mean i always felt from day 1 it was a wee bit unrealistic how everyone companion or otherwise didn't press the matter.
@LegoDaleks i didn't see that many eroors really. plus the Doctor didn't end up shagging any one and revealing his true name so can we truly call it a fanfic my own main gripe with it was wtf was up with that other TARDIS. i mean i get it was the competition winner and all and it looked pretty nice but then it showed up again in S06e02 without much of an explanation beyond "oh look its the same"
@LegoDaleks whose Muppet? Well I always understood it that there were ppl who knew his name like the Time Lords but th euniverse en mass certainly didn't know his real name just like the audience. personally i don't think u should reveal his name bcos honestly whats gonna be good enough to do him justice. its 1 of the reasons i disliked the Master's real name in virgin new adventures. he is like the doctor so there should be mystery surrounding him too...
I have mixed feelings about RTD, he wrote some appalling episodes and insisted on making the Doctor lovey dovey but without him we wouldn't have it at all today.
@hcvang Really, i was thinking of someday doing some DW fanfics but within reason. u know u c all these fanfic that go WAY too far like, well pretty much any fic which ends up with the Dr in bed with any1. I wanted 2 do a trilogy of Cybermen stories, 1 of which might b a kinda prequel to the Next Doctor so ud c Jackson lake get atacked, then slowly become the Docotor, find Rosita and have an adventure all his own b4 he meets the Doctor. I also came up with a mad idea where Dr 11 meets Jenny
@hcvang calm dwn dude Im just saying bcos the Doctor has said when he regenerates its a random process, so he cud end up as anything. of course on on TV u r never gonna c a non-humanid Gallifrayan bcos of the production costs and stuff and Im not saying I'd want to either but Im just surprised the niche hasn't yet been tackled in spin off media
@eateroftheflame u c u r the kind of fan I like, u have ur opinion but recognise that i have mine and within a 45+ yr old fanbase where the main characters r foreva shifting that is imp as factions inevitably dvlp. I didin't dislike any of Moff's S5 eps just well, Blink, Silence in the Lib etc, I felt where a bit bttr. and yes that romance lasted a while but hey i feel it wudda been worse if it was happening with multiple companions. River i'll kinda accept when it happens
@thephantomposterIII how. he bropught back a show which b4 05 was frakly considered a joke, even if that was untru, and made it into literally the biggest TV show on the BBC and at least one of the biggest on Brit tv and gave it a new lease on life. I agree with u about JNT's negativity. yeah he hurt the show andf I don't blame him the cancellation afterall Castrovalva was under his tenure, but RTD is FAR from the worst head writer or xec producer
erm... that clip sequence was pretty bad considering these people run a big tv show... its like the amateur stuff you get here on youtube, which makes it good, because we are amateurs lol
NO FEMALE DOCTOR PLEASE!!!!!! that will totally ruin it and i'm a girl but i'm JUST GETTING ATTACHED TO DOCTOR WHO! AND THAT WILL BE THE END OF THE RIDE FOR ME
Davies is always a class act... and a very clever man. He always has a really good idea of what's going on around the show.
Russell T Davies did a cameo as a Welsh news reporter in Torchwood Miracle Day. He didn't want to, but he was the only person on hand who could do a convincing Welsh accent.
Thank you Russell, for coming back!! ❤ ❤
We've been starved since 2010 when the last full series (with 13 episodes straight) was broaddcast!!
Would you ever make a cameo in Doctor Who?
RTD:"NO I HATE WRITERS THAT DO THAT...Its so unprofessional."
Mark Gatiss: "Aw :("
TheCartoonLoon, and again...
Yeahhh, Mark Gatiss didn't make cameos in Doctor Who, he made appearances as an actual actor. Big difference.
@@TheLemonCobweb, yeah that's true.
Lol it'd be a hell of a twist if he regenerated into river song.
4:23 mark gatiss.. lol
To be fair he is a fully fledged actor, he doesn't make the corny cameos they were talking about
An interesting anecdote is that in the second-to-last Tom Baker episode, Keeper of Traken, The Master actually dominates another's body, and he's in that form throughout the rest of the series. Oh, you sweet summer child.
" Someone will wave the magic wand and say *ANOTHER 13 LIFES* "
Time Of The Doctor
Say what you will, but there would not be Dr. Who today without this man.
My favorite series of the davies era was probably series 1.
Ive seen the 5 drs but i cant even remeber that part, i need to watch it again. I remeber the ring of rassilon but i cant actually remember the storyline properly.
Look at Russell at 4:59. OMG!
Doctor Who seems to be so popular. I'm living in germany and they did only send the first 2 seasons. I'd love to live in England, where I can watch Doctor Who because my TV isn't geting BBC -.-
Michael Gambon was the main character of that episode he was in it all the way through it. Thats a Guest star, not a cameo.
Its still a cameo appearance, just because he in "Legitimate" actor, doesn't mean he isn't a writer who made a cameo appearance in something he wrote.
You say it wasn't a cameo, than you give the definition of cameo.... which his appearance fits. Brief counts as one episode to me.
Well, that's not a cameo. He's a legitimate actor
Isn't it weird that when mentioning a female doctor he says the name 'Ruth'
what a crown. Yes he is the Queen of Doctor Who and a fucking good one too

@LegoDaleks that wasn't a fanfic it was a comic
@Ansuzie no he met her off screen and meets river in S5
Lol I'd forgotten all about this conversation so I might've taken your advice before you'd given it to me. All the same thanks, I think i've seen him say similar things elsewhere

@hcvang im surprised in comics of novels they haven't had a time lord regenerate in2 a non-humanoid yet
Stella Starr would be a bit redundant but it sounds good and she'd still be a star after she got married.
@LegoDaleks whats the Codger?
I LOVE DAVID TENNANT
No, it's not. A cameo is a one-off appearance more as a guest star than as a regular appearance on the show. hahaha i love the dalek :)
Ive wondered about the 13 lives. Im sure the Master has gone over his.
russel will regret handing the job to moffat, russel was too good to go :(

Have to agree. Moffat's stories have been my favorites since 2005.
All the comments from 08 shitting on RTD, if only they could see what Moffat and Chibnall would do to Who...
Right! And now he's the man that's gonna save it...again!

SO glad to see the back of this hack writer. History will not be kind to this man.
Look how wrong you were
what's so bad about him?

Could The Doctor ever be a girl? Can they ever go past thirteen the 13th Doctor? If only they knew...………..
The answer is C!!
"Do you have trouble killing of characters?"
"No"
RUBBISH!!!!
He always cops out on killing off characters!
I don't think RTD was bad, but Steven Moffat is infinately better.
@eateroftheflame u c u r the kind of fan I like, u have ur opinion but recognise that i have mine and within a 45+ yr old fanbase where the main characters r foreva shifting that is imp as factions inevitably dvlp. @hcvang ok its the degree to which fiction is real, the degree of realism....wats ur point
erm... that clip sequence was pretty bad considering these people run a big tv show... its like the amateur stuff you get here on youtube, which makes it good, because we are amateurs lol
yeah, that is already too much, and really weird
NO FEMALE DOCTOR PLEASE!!!!!!
that will totally ruin it and i'm a girl but i'm JUST GETTING ATTACHED TO DOCTOR WHO! AND THAT WILL BE THE END OF THE RIDE FOR ME
No B
Get rid of Steven Moffat, and bring back Russel T Davies.
"A Delight" I am glad that this terrible writer brought the show back but he was a terrible writer.
