Good stuff, although if you watch Tuff Lion’s amazing reggae guitar tutorial (available on UA-cam), he says you should actually strum every string in the chord when skanking.
As is true with most musical techniques, it’s ultimately a stylistic choice, the keyword being “choice”. One should be in control of and aware of if they are playing the full chord or just the last 4 strings. I found properly skanking a full chord to be more difficult than just the 4 high string skank.
