stage slap guy is the best
Stage slap guy is doing what I feel as I listen at my desk right now! Get it stage slap guy and THANK YOU LOUIS COLE for making me feel the feels every time with your music ❤😊
#stageslapguyfoeva 🫶🏽
Word yo
He's wearing a Lacoste polo. Instant respect
My reflection
This song got me through a hard time recently. I was trying to get someone, anyone, to park their car on my face, and thanks to this song it finally happened! Thanks Lou
did they pump those brakes or did you use a wheel chock
@@lossfound they parked on his face and pumped hard, and that's all I'm going to say on the subject.
same bruh
As long as they left their horse!
I actually lost the only person in my life who was willing to park their car on my face so this kind of put me in a worse spot... still a banger though
"this is what jazz looks like now"
And we're for it.
Acid jazz has been around for a while though 😎
@@mr.nobody2244
Yes, we all know about acid jazz. Move on.
@@mr.nobody2244 This is a bit over acid jazz...
yes as Jack DeJohnette replied to the question "What does jazz mean to you", JD: "Surprise". Jazz is about pushing music forward and not 251ing for life.
Agreed. Jazz has been constructive for so long and its progressed to this point in a good way.
holy shit the bass in version 2 goes so hard, hats off to Logan Kane 😳
pizdets!
He’s fucking shit up. Nasty!
It almost started crying from the sheer funk emanating from that bass solo hahaha
Logan is such a beast, recognized that tone before I saw it was him!
Insane
Nate is rock solid on that dog bowl. Nothing ruff about that!
You’re not ‘arf right.
i mean the man is the big dog when it comes to multi-instrumentalists
Louis, we were in Aural Skills / Music Theory (taught by David Fick) together at SC in the fall of 2005 with Eldar Djangirov and Sam Brawner. At one point (for a study group maybe?), you actually came to my apartment at Troy Hall and played my V-Drums. If I had known then that you were gonna become THE Louis Cole, I woulda asked for an autograph 😅. So happy for your success and to be able to listen to wacky AF monster jams like this one.
Hey I lived in Troy Hall too!
Also, RIP my former roommate Rocky Collins aka Stone Jones, Class of ‘08
Never knew Louis and Eldar crossed paths! Will definitely be keeping that fun fact in my back pocket
Imagine trying to take Aural Skills with Louis Fucking Cole demolishing the curve.
What the hell that class was stacked!
Cole gets really great musicians to play with him, including his backup singers. It’s worthwhile to search for each of his musicians and listen to what they’re doing independent of Cole.
this has been a past time of mine for the last 3 years and the web of great music its connected me to is nearly unthinkable. that's a great pro tip.
@@pedxing Agreed!
^ this 🎶🎵
I did that with Knower's "I'm the President" since they were all credited, p cool dog
Thank you for that! I love Louie’s music but don’t know much about him personally or the artists he works with. About to start digging
That piano is crazy good 😮
If we only had an award show for “jazz licks & grooves” like the oscars, the award would go to louis and the bassist on the last quarter of the video. I have never heard anything fuller, funkier and more locked. Kudos gentlemen!!
It really hit me when Louis said "- - - -"
Like damn bro
the 'Let it happen' self-reference at 4:33 is so wholesome it hurts
good catch!
Homie in the white polo shirt is having such a good time. I'm right there with him.
Chris Fishman is soooooooo good, what a great piano solo
Drummer has a serious pocket too. We all know what Louis can do.
Yeah he matched the vibe perfectly. Not too much bebop, just the right amount for the tune.
Thanks I was looking for his name!
awesome name too
Yes!!!!!!
Goddamit, it warms my heart to see younger people play jazz with such energy and feel.
look up domi and jd beck
@@phish1145 beat me to it :)
First, I love the quick edits of laptop screens and lil gags like the "Quads activated".
Second, whoever that was slapping the stage right on time, I love you man. Channeling the exact energy I'd have if I was there 😂😂
Third, Louis, you're incredible and an inspiration. I'll just say that the only merch I've bought from any band/musicians in the last decade is yours, and one from a Cory Wong concert. They were playing your stuff before the show and everyone was grooving. Never stop.
Sweet! Fourth, I wholeheartedly wholly agree with you.
I came to respect the stage slapper.
ya 100% i love the sesh vids and the live show videos the best .....they really go ALL OUT on the video editing
I love how this is edited like a shitpost but contains some epic musical content
Louis Cole in a nutshell
Long live jazz, if this is what it looks like now. Same chaos, new skills, epic brilliance.
Ive always loved how louis cole let people out-do him in moments where he was live and such, because he understands that the music is what matters.
V2 live bass and Louis on drums is just crazy heavy
That bass playing makes me feel some type of way.
Amazing song, also the guy at 1:20 is my hero
I hear and see Louis Cole. I feel Frank Zappa in my heart. I love them both.
Louis is at the intersection of Zappa and Donald Fagen and Stevie Wonder
@@ceddyharris6340 By golly I think you nailed it.
@@ceddyharris6340 This has been my conclusion. It's joyous!
@@ceddyharris6340 BRAVO!
I’ve never heard Louis mention Zappa, but I’ve heard a couple of bars that were lifted from Uncle Frank. Not in a dishonest way, don’t misunderstand me. Lovingly lifted.
logan kane's kinda a genius
I love the world when it has music like this.
Hey everybody, I'd just like you to know that this song got me through some rough patches in my life. I recently ran out of spinach dip and I had an entire baguette that I had already cut up, buttered and toasted. So I was sitting there devastated staring at this toasted bread, and I had no spinach dip.
All Jazz fans stand with you in this difficult time. For who amongst us has not felt the pain of running out of spinach dip?
Love Louis Cole. This whole band is so tight.
1:20 golden dad
Bassist in version 2 was legitimately popping off so hard wow
I love Louis Cole and Knower, I wish I could see Genevieve Artadi and Louis Cole and like actually speak to them
What would you talk about with them?
@@Gachuiri2 fjords
@@Gachuiri2 I'd love to talk with them to see if we could work together to make music for a futuristic animated series! Their music fits the mood so well and whenever I make artwork for it, I listen to their music lol. Also, I really have a lot of questions about what some of this music means and stuff
@@livvy94 I just shed a tear😢 yes, I am Norwegian
Finding out you're one of the clowns has led me down a rabbit hole that has me at 4 AM listening to chiquita magic for the first time. keep doing the thing, thank you
Louis isn't a clown, but in a parallel universe there's a clown where Louis should be.
my mans on that bass line in pt. 2 created the grooviest bass tone and licks in recent human history
I love the contrast in keyboard rigs - Chris Fishman has a Yamaha Grand Piano, a Sequential Rev2 Prophet and a Rhodes, while Louis has a cheap M-Audio MIDI keyboard.
bass player in the large band version 😳😳😳
Logan Kane
"This is what jazz look like now". FUCK! YES!
(spreads cheeks for jazz)
Nice to see Louis continue to enlist good young jazz players in his revolution. Pianist in version 1 in particular.
On sent que t'as pas entendu la basse toi ...
This is what jazz looks like now.
BRB, putting on my skeleton suit and wizard cap.
I didn't know how much I missed this commentary style of video, but I'm glad it's back. KEEP THOSE QUADS ACTIVATED.
Louis cole big band was one of the best shows I’ve ever been to… I rly hope he does another big band tour bc that shit rocked
I love the piano solos in the first one. The bass, brass section and energy in the second one are just incredible. So much drive and you all look to be having such a good time. Thanks for improving the world.
you forgot the bass line in the 2nd one but maybe you don't have very good ears ...
@@MrFredericF you missed the second word of the second sentence, but maybe you don't have very good eyes.
These performances are fucking mind boggling
It was impossible to lose the smile. Fecking genious, you. Thank you!
Can't stop watching these. Talent.
Finally Nate Wood gets to play more than a cowbell.
It took me too long to realize that from every musician in the world, Louis picked Nate to play that cowbell
This isnt just music. It's art that seeps into your ears and down to your soul. Man, I love both versions.
Logan Kane. Best genius.
Louis Cole makes me happy.
Proud to be there that night and witness the man himself wearing shorts!
That white dude slappin the floor at 1:21 is my spirit animal
The ending with the solo clap was MASSIVE, jajajajaja.
I loved Version 2's whole show.
Where was this at??
Chick Corea would be so pleased with this. This is some of the most exciting music around, dope.
that piano solo, maaaan...
Man that intro and outro jingle is so relaxing
Dude just melts faces with that base line in v2.
Freakin' GREAT piano solo, Fish Man!!
Its my dream to see Louis Cole live. I'm not kidding. COME TO DETROIT OR ANYWHERE IN OHIO and bring the stage slap guy pls
I got 1:36 on repeat forever, give that pianist a raise
Now I put Louis Cole above everything but what about Crhis Fishman - Piano on small band and Logan Kane - Bass on Big Band. I mean everything is wonderfull but those 2 got something. Louis Cole ofc and Nate Woods drums, The Brass Section... Everyone else casue you don't play alone. So much love.
This is one of my favourite things in the world right now. Thanks Louis (and bands).
I'll never get tired of NBA Jam jazz 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
You might dig Bad Dudes’ cover of From Downtown from NBA Jam, then. ua-cam.com/video/TFXRTWngdo0/v-deo.htmlsi=u-iJKtjicnCsYHs6
You make me happy, Louis Cole!
You’re killing it Louis & bandmates!
god I hope there's a full set recording of that second show........
Bass: "Which notes should I play?", LC: "YES!"
It's not fair. How can one guy have so much mind blowing talent?
I love that the drummer is using a dog bowl as a percussion instrument
DAT BASS
Louis PLEASE release the "menu music" track, it's painfully groovy!
Wow, Nate Wood on drums.
i didnt love this until i find my brain's occupied by this
God, is looks and feels like a best modern (even futuristic), *free funk*
I always have a hard time remembering the "dash" part of the lyrics so I appreciate that he put it on screen.
😂
Jesus Christ! The energy!!! Much love from Switzerland!!
Louis, studio recording of the big band version w/ Logan Kane on bass ASAP plz thx
man what a tune, both versions. I'm obsessed officially. The cricket noise at the end is my inner beast coming out.
i've seen this video way to many times, and the guy slapping the stage gets me every fricking time.
Can't wait to hear this song with the Metropole Orkest horn section!
The outro music that Louis synth patch sooo unique i could swim in that sound all day .. You defo need to bring out a Louis cole sound banks n samples one day dude 😂😎
I think he just uses, like ableton or whatever. Pretty sure at least.
It just sounds a bit between a raspy clavinet and harspichord
I looped another version of it here: ua-cam.com/video/vLUXTW3Ukh0/v-deo.html
I really hope he releases it as a full length track someday!
@@ToneSherpa pretty sure he uses Logic Pro, and he's mentioned using Massive exclusively before as a synth but that was quite a few years ago now.
@@lewiji sounds to me like he's still using that same massive patch.. whatever it is
CHRIS FISHMAN
Outro on part 1 is so damn good!!
Big fan of live shows. 😁 ...and that p-bass sound.
that drum.
The crickets at the end get me every time!!
Daaamn Nate Wood can also play like Louis Cole… in addition to his own flavors… damn
As a parking attendant I heartily approve of the sentiment behind this song.
Realizing I havent been subbed and forgot about louis cole for a solid year+. Never again
The only person alive to make a classy tune about munching carpet.
single clap at the end, just hilarious!!!!!!! ps omfg... the post production just as much as the music & musicians. A1
I was there this is Rome !!
So good. I have not seen anything live. Incredible. Perfect tone.
Good God the drums in the first song are *crispy*
Hottest gig ever
this is the absolute nuts
Boy we love you so 🫶
You and your band with "Robert Glasper" would be nothing short of amazing!
Completely re-edited by Louis but mostly correctly so to bring out Logan Kane's incredible bass playing.
Chris Fishman killing it. Deelish.
Take my money!
Both versions go so unbelievably hard!! I love Sam Wilkes but that Logan Kane fella elevated me spiritually. I dreamt about meeting LC las night and woke up to watch this again
louis's snare always sounds like it comes from a spaceship
I’m going to the Denver show tonight in just a few hours then again tomorrow in Boulder with my young children for their first show !we are all too hyped to support you and Genevieve’s new album! And hopefully see Chiquita too because she keeps me fresh 😊
